Deshaun Watson officially requests trade from Houston
BuffaloRebound replied to Process's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I’d rather have Bridgewater than Darnold if I’m the Texans. They are in complete rebuild mode. Darnold hasn’t shown anything in 3 years, and in the unlikely event he turns it around in year 4, you’re stuck with the decision of having to pay him $25m+ for 1 good year and 3 bad ones. No thanks to Darnold. Bridgewater is a good bridge QB and what that franchise will need if they deal Watson. -

Yes. I’d take Bridgewater, 3 1sts and a 2nd over Darnold and 4 1sts to get Watson out of the AFC if I were the Texans. I wouldn’t want to potentially have to play him every year and it’s one less franchise QB in the conference for the next 10-15 years. -
Appreciate the story. Just seems strange that the Bills and Milano skipped right to Milano is testing free agency more than 3 weeks from free agency. I guess that implies Bills won’t be using franchise or transition tag on him and that they’re done negotiating if they had any negotiations at all. Not familiar with any other high profile free agents across the League where this has been publicly stated except for Milano. Why would Beane give other teams a 3 week head start on knowing Milano is gonna be available if Beane has any interest in retaining him? Bye Matt.

Bills suggested as trade spot for RB Christian McCaffrey?
BuffaloRebound replied to WNY's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Dead cap is $24m if they cut him, $17m in a trade. They’d save around that much in cap room if they include Bridgewater in the deal. And Watson would only have a $10m cap hit the first year. It’s definitely do-able cap wise for Carolina to trade for Watson and also trade Bridgewater and McCaffrey. -

Yes, but I can understand why Houston would rather a 1st round pick than a RB making $8m per year when they are in rebuild mode. -

If I were the Texans, I’d take less from an NFC team than an AFC. Not significantly less but still less. I’d take bridgewater and three 1sts and a 2nd over the Jets four #1’s and Darnold. -

His contract isn’t that bad. Carolina already paid the signing bonus. Only owes $8m this year and same next year. He’s still only 24. If Carolina is that desperate to acquire picks to acquire Watson, I’d take McCaffrey off their hands for pick 30. -
Which team will J J Watt Choose ?
BuffaloRebound replied to HOUSE's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Green Bay or Buffalo. I went with Green Bay because I’m a Bills fan and still conditioned to think we can’t have nice things. -
If this is true, I can’t see the NFL and Players Union penalizing the current players by lowering the cap this year. More players could’ve opted out and put the entire season at risk. I don’t know how you penalize the guys who had to basically quarantine for 5 months and get tested every day. Every game was played and the season was successfully finished on time. So guys playing 7 years from now can get 10% yearly increases and the current players see a 5-10% increase. More likely scenario is lopping 1-2% off the increases in the future so the current guys don’t get screwed.

I think I’d rather have Watt than have to pony up pick 30 for Mack, who turns 30 in a few days. If Watt is truly asking for 2 years $25m, I think he’d be a great addition.

Here’s a question... would you rather sign Watt or give up pick #30 for Khalil Mack?
-
The fact that Beane is giving up this early on signing Milano hopefully points to plans to bring in somebody on defense he thinks will have a greater impact than Milano. If it’s Kirksey and shuffling the deck on the D Line, I think most will be unhappy. If a difference maker is brought in on the D-Line, I think most will understand letting Milano walk.
-
Maybe not, but it’s what comes next if you wanna win a Super Bowl. You need those final pieces to push you over the edge from contender to favorite.

Watt choosing Bills has chance of bringing other guys along who are also chasing rings. Kind of like what Brady’s presence does. There’s a lot of vets who are gonna get cut. If we can’t get Gronk, then a guy like Kyle Rudolph is intriguing if Vikings cut him. Does Sherman take less money to chase a ring. Milano’s replacement. A vet RB. I think Watt picking the Bills would have an add-on effect.

The timing of today’s Milano story is kind of strange/random with 4 weeks to go before he becomes a free agent unless Bills are moving on. This would make sense. -
Carson Wentz to the Colts

$15m of Wentz’s 2022 salary becomes guaranteed this March so they’d have $15m dead cap in 2022. -

Yeah, because he’s got an All World arm and has the arm strength to throw the ball all over the field. Goff doesn’t have that. At 43, Brady wins because he can still make all the throws and but mostly because he’s a once in a century team leader at the QB position.
