My God. Standing or sitting at ones discretion willy nilly all day long? Thunderdome. You work in Thunderdome.

Bodies were left in the wake of this investigation, with people off to jail for a long time. The reputation of the FBI/DOJ is in tatters, and we’ve learned for the 457th time that when given unfettered power and access and ability to operate in the shadows, the people in charge are corrupt/corruptable and seek to create the world as they want it to be. It seems clear to me that the system is designed to protect the corrupt, at least insofar as the IG needed a memo on FBI letterhead signed by everyone involved with a declaration of actual bias to acknowledge same. That does not surprise me—one of the problems with govt is that the structure provides fertile ground for corruption. Tough to get fired, multiple layers of redundancy, virtually guaranteed lifetime income, unlimited funding, and the kicker—its never going out of business and has no competition. Agree with everything you’ve said.

3 Penalties - 30 yds for the Pats (How??)
leh-nerd skin-erd replied to CaliBills's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Bullsh&t. Well, maybe crying about it on social media makes those folks look silly. I agree with you on that. the NFL has an officiating problem. It’s inconsistent in-game, and on plays where defensive holding is called one time to sustain a drive, and ignored the next time, why is it an issue to call it out. I listen to Sirius NFL, and the officiating has been a major topic of conversation all season. If the perspective is “special rules for special players” as you suggest, well, it’s even worse than incompetence, it’s in-game manipulation and thus...kinda sorta fixed, or tilted precariously. I don’t think it’s fixed by the way, but man I’d appreciate a Pats game where we walked away saying “Holy crap we got a break on that spot on 4th and one when the RB was obviously very short, and man we got that defensive holding call and then the officials just let em play, and man, we caught a real break when jerry Hughes grabbed Brady’s face mask on that sneak and they missed it”. -
The problem with your theory is that the Republicans when in control of the house, did not pounce on an impeachable offense, real or imagined. In fact, as Cotton Eyed Joe was shaking down the Ukes and bragging about it, it hardly caused a ripple nationally. I’m not naive, I don’t think the Republicans are pure as the driven snow, I simply think of it as two warring street gangs with an uneasy alliance where one suddenly loses it’s collective mind and figures the theory of “mutually assured destruction” is a bunch of bs. You raised an excellent point on Garland, but it’s not the one you think. Republican response to Garland: We have control of the Senate, we are going to play the loyal Opposition role and simply wait you out as is our right. Democrat response to Kavanaugh: Well, we Borked Borke, we nearly destroyed Clarence Thomas over an allegation of a ***** hair on a Pepsi can...let’s find a willing assassin to make a vague, unfounded, unsubstantiated and completely unprovable allegation of sexual assault from 40 years ago (phase 1), let’s send in our best prosecutorial team in to destroy him in the public square in front of his wife and daughters, and in phase 2, we’ll launch another attack that suggests he’s the lead engineer of a rape train. If he cracks and they find him in the garage with the door down and car running, awesome. If a crazy from our side takes him out, great. If he survives it all and isn’t institutionalized when all is said and done, the message has been sent to Trumps next appointee. Put another way, consider Garland, Kavanaugh, Souter and Sotameyer in context. I am not suggesting anything, I’m stating emphatically that the next Trump nominee to the SC will get exactly the same treatment as Kavanaugh, though the proportionality will be ratcheted up. Why? Because their base can look at Garland and are willing to accept that it’s the same as Kavanaugh...the same as Mueller...the same as Impeachment over a president. If, say, Amy Coney Barrett is the nominee to replace RGB, watch respected jurist and mother of 6 be subjected to all sorts of innuendo and allegations of sexual misconduct. I’d predict at a minimum inappropriate physical contact with impressionable underclassmen at ND, but likely much worse.

I don’t want to seem overly dramatic, but this all comes on the heels of the 3 dark years of the Russian narrative. It’s not impulsive, it was calculated and an attempt to destroy Trump and his family. The Kavanaugh hearing was not organic, it was meant to destroy a man in front of his family, and to destroy his wife and children for good measure. Their ultimate play to destroy him, and if in the process they win in 2020, that’s gravy.

I’ve been wrong before. I look at it like this. If enough people are truly dumb enough to buy an argument that an Impeachment hearing that magically becomes #resistTHEsenate when the entire process is dependent on the senate, and said people vote, well it’s hard to overcome that volume of dumb and the game is lost anyway. we have a shot here at getting some semblance of balance back, but some heads have to roll (figuratively speaking). I don’t hold out a lot of hope, I know far too many decent, educated and otherwise honorable people seemingly comfortable with all that has transpired because Trump ain’t their guy. Seriously, who the &$#@ wants an out of control DOJ steamrolling it’s citizens for political gain? The answer is every ordinary American willing to sit idly by and watch it happen.

It's a Prius Sport, and I pride myself on being thorough. And let's not forget Tom has that whole Russell Crowe "Beautiful Mind" thing going, it takes me 45 minutes just to get the crayon off the windows. -

Oh crap Mr. Tom...I forgot to ask----did you want the Lemoncello Myst or Oprah's Acaiberry Muffin after-detail air freshener? Dr of Dorkology -
I don’t think that works on impeachment. As one poster suggested in the aftermath of the vote, many, many people likely thought Trump had to pack his bags after it all went down. The general public has little to no confidence in our politicians to start, in the warm glow of the realization that the FBI was dirty in pursuing Russia, with Nancy Pelosi struggling to articulate what the $#@& is actually going on, and with Trump’s prodigious capacity to hammer home a point in 140 characters or less, and tossing in the actual rules on impeachment, I think they fail miserably with that message. Plus, the ace in the hole, Trump yelling loudly”let’s get to it!” to be replaced with “this is BS”.

The Deep State War Heats Up

I just saw a reply from Barr on tv, but the sound was turned down. I don’t read lips, but to me, it looked like he said “Ruck my Rick”, or maybe “Trucksmy chick”? DR, you’re an Emmy nominated writer, can you make sense of either of those? -
The situation is fluid. One person’s “shrewd” is another’s opportunity. We haven’t gotten nearly as far along as we need to on declass. I was so frustrated waiting for Trump to release information to help his cause with The Russia narrative. Turns out the wise tactical move was to simply wait it out. I’d think the same strategy applies, and the wild card remains that Trump has access to all the secrets of the nation. Between what we know is coming (Barr has been pretty clear which way he’s leaning, the FBI would be in shambles if it’s leadership had an ounce of ethical self-awareness), and the situation evolves. Lets dig into the Brennan-Obama CIA a bit, see where the bodies are buried. Anyway, where we are today is not where we’ll be tomorrow. There was a time when fraud and malfeasance on the part of the FBI would have earned widespread condemnation and outrage from all across the country. Now, leftists yawn. Same with the impeachment of DJT. The reality is the concept has lost its luster, and many Americans are torn between ::yawn:: and disgust at the dems.

Interestingly, they will be screaming about how important it is to trust law enforcement, how a few simple mistakes in pursuing the right to surveil Americans granted by a secretive court that operates in the shadows is no big deal, and how, you know, Trump Trumps. -

You’ve developed quite an odd collection of e-stalkers. ? -
That play was over in the blink of an eye, with no gain or as I recall a loss. Not to get too crazy on this one, but Was he engaged with an o lineman from the Steeler and driven to the dirt, or engaged with one and he reached out and grabbed another defensive player for an obvious hold? It’s just such an odd play to have a holding call when an RB is smothered that quickly.

For what seemed to me like an eternity, they blathered on about the Rooney connection. They ran a graphic with the original Rooney--Mickey, I think his name was, and he died in 1988. 1988. It was like watching the History channel. And then more yapping. The thing was, the Bills had the ball. The game was close, put the $#@!ing game on and analyze the plays/players on the field. It's fine to talk about Terry Bradshaw when the discussion about an enlarged prostate comes about, but you have to figure 50% in attendance do not give a crap about a history lesson in the middle of a playoff-relevant game. You wanna talk Steeler history? Do it at a break. And sprinkle in a little Bills history, ya mutt ya. Maddening.
