I prefer Slender Lenster, I find "skinny" offensive. I have no issue with this exposure because it has nothing in common with the Hillary misdeed except we can use the word "clearance" when describing both scenarios. Can we agree that this is sorta a sad case to whistleblow on? Somebody did something within the scope of their authority, someone else got their feelings hurt, and wanted validation of their feelings?

As long as there are people on the planet, and no "Instant Integrity" poll, there will be corruption, elites, the common man, and injustice. I believe virtually everything that Row said, though I generally stay away from labeling people trying to figure out how to get through the world. I've read your comments on the media and my only suggestion would be to temper your thoughts and consider the big picture. The fact that some of the media is complicit in the coup is relevant, of course, but acknowledging the strides we've made in our collective ability to point it out for consideration is a major step forward. 10-15 years ago, a guy like DR, Task, or you had very few places to go to vent and discuss things that you considered important. I mean Ham Radio sets were pretty cool but you could only reach so many people. The answer to freedom is more freedom. You're living the byproduct now with the Trump presidency. I'm thrilled to live in a time that allows for access to information however covered in sludge and slime it might be. Yet, the struggle continues. Temper your baser instincts. Put your anger and frustration to good use. I can't say I've ever been where you are now, philosophically, but I've driven through the neighborhood, metaphorically.

The Mizzou/Yale/PC/Free Speech Topic
leh-nerd skin-erd replied to FireChan's topic in Politics, Polls, and Pundits
I tried to start a boycott against the movies "Beaches" and the non-Gaga "A Star is Born". Turns out the Blockbuster in our town closed at some point and has been replaced with a Chipolte. I guess someone beat me to it. I just got a culturally misappropriated burrito bowl instead. -
The Media's Portrayal of Trump and His Presidency
leh-nerd skin-erd replied to Nanker's topic in Politics, Polls, and Pundits
This shows my growth as a human. If he ran, won and implemented a platform o supported, I'd be thrilled and would let bygones be bygones. This also shows my pettiness as a human. I'd love to say it would then give me joy to stick it to the libs who idolize him, but I got a jump start on that when the MAGA hat/Trump buddy story broke. I know a couple guys who are both crazy libs and Brady uber fans, I acknowledged him as one of the greatest neocon QBs of all time. I acknowledged Kraft as a successful conservative owner. I inquired as to whether or not they were conflicted given that through the support they lend to Kraft & Brady, they actually helped get Trump elected and are global warming deniers. Good stuff. -
The Media's Portrayal of Trump and His Presidency
leh-nerd skin-erd replied to Nanker's topic in Politics, Polls, and Pundits
It a reflection of our times that the guy who pretends to be Captain America on the big screen could despise someone for living their own American political truth in real life. Personally I hope Brady runs for office as a conservative when he retires, wins and breaks the heart of the liberal branch of Pats nation. It's really all I have left. -
No, it's not all that important in context. Since the days I was instructed to hide under a desk in the event of a missle strike, I've assumed that enemies at home and abroad are looking to hurt the country. The FBI could have released a press report stating "there are Russians trying to screw with our election" and every thinking person in America would have responded "Duh". Using my approach, we would have saved likely $40 m, been done in 20 minutes and not told the 60m+ fine Americans who voted for real hope $ real change that their votes were largely irrelevant & secondary to the desires of Obama, Clinton, Comey & his crew. If anything, this incident is a stain on certain elements of our intelligence community, because not only did the Russsians actually interfere with relative ease, it took 2+ years on noodldicking around to find out that those who thought there was evidence of a conspiracy at he highest levels of our government were either lying through their teeth, or were woefully incompetent. And, to close the loop from my childhood, while history tells us you are wise to be suspicious of those in power, I never would have thought the upper echelon of the DOJ and FBI could be this dirty. That's my bad.

Trump and Russia
leh-nerd skin-erd replied to Benjamin Franklin's topic in Politics, Polls, and Pundits
But--he did it all while fabricating conspiracy theories that lead his minions to believe that there is some sort of organized "cabal" out to get Trump. I think the mueller report proves this was all just a giant misunderstanding and a series of unfortunate events. I mean what world superpower with the ability to hit our enemies on the left testicle with a missle fired from a drone 17 miles overhead wouldn't launch a multi-year kaziilion dollar prosecutorial reign of terror after a guy had a meeting with a Russian ballerina in the banquet room at local IHOP? It's the next logical step. DR got lucky on this, obviously. ? -
Trump and Russia

I think Alec Baldwin is unstable, a guy that is a drink, a cross word, or a missed med away from assaulting someone and doing them significant harm. So, that may color my opinion, but that music playing in the background has a definite 'soundtrack-from-The Exorcist' vibe to me. Creepy, and pretty funny in light of, well, you know. -
New rule to replace onside kick?
leh-nerd skin-erd replied to Mij yllek's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
The thing about the onside kick is that it's a play that can be used at any time, by either team during a game. The rule here is 4th q specific, one time only and while obviously potentially exciting, there is a downside. "Let 'em play.". "Good no call." "Wow, a lot of contact there.". It seems to me the NFL struggles with consistency on passing plays to begin with, and who what why they call form game to game. At a critical moment in the game, with the onside kick the judgement call is removed (mostly) and clarity is provided to the fan. If the improved onside kick rule results in less than a 10% conversion rate, that is the way the gods of football intended it to be. -
I think this post is representative of what you do very well. Line by line, point by point, respectful of his position yet your perspective properly positioned. I understand your issues with BM, and your decision to respond aggressively to his posts as you do, but perhaps WiP will open his mind a bit and see what the country just went through was unnecessary and divisive. In fact, I've said it before, but let's assume j. Edgar Comey et al were truly convinced the Russians had hidden an earpiece in Trumps ear, and really felt the security of our nation was at risk and we all needed barrack and his crew to run a black op for the good of our way of life? How frigging bad are they that they could run a 2+ year sting with investigations, strong arm tactics, intimidation and come up with zeropointzerozero collusion/treason/spying indicments of the subjects targeted? How could honest and ethical members of our law enforcement agencies miss so badly that their supporters can crow about a few process crimes and some run of the mill tax cheat charges? For that crowd, if they are being honest, they were duped by the entire process, or duped into believing stories told to them by the keystone cops.

To me, it's personal. His thoughts can be best summarized, in my opinion, as the ends justify the means. He sees no reason to question why it's incredibly dangerous to a freedom-loving society to turn away when a sitting president weaponizes key pieces of the intelligence community to attack the political opposition, why it's dangerous to screw around with our political process by using foreign "intelligence" reports that are false and funded by political enemies, how dangerousness it is if the electorate cedes control to unelected high ranking operatives in the FBI and DOJ, and how incredibly dangerous it is to give a prosecutor a blank check and limitless power to go out and find crimes wherever he sees fit. The reason we get #### like this in our system is because in spite of mountains of evidence that one of a handful of individuals elected president in the history of the country cooked the books in attempt to force feed the American people HIS choice for president, is because people like WiP see a shiny penny like "The presidential fixer got arrested!" and rationalize "Man, this was so worth it!". The funny part for me is the use of the term "fixer". I wonder what shiny penny phrase the media would have force fed to it's easily outraged constituents had showtime never aired "Ray Donovan".

Tulsi Gabbard
leh-nerd skin-erd replied to John from Riverside's topic in Politics, Polls, and Pundits
I like your posts on the main board, I read through the responses here to avoid repeating what others may have already said. Good for you for getting involved. I won't rehash what many have said, and like you won't try to change your opinion. DR does a much better job of laying out the concerns I started to have about the two party system 10 or 15 years ago. I'm not so sure about everything he believes, but i decided long ago to cast my vote for those who will hurt the country and my family least. I believe Trump, for all his warts, is a national treasure. Before writing me off as just another crazy, i would describe myself as a centrist on many issues. I think reasonable taxation is reasonable, and the redistributive theory of our tax code is a reasonable way to approach the world. I support equality among people, struggle with abortion beyond a certain point in a pregnancy, think the march toward more socialistic policies is a mistake, abhor the ACA while recognizing what followed was predictable and likely cooked into the system. I feel quite strongly that our immigration system is a mess, that our current open borders policy is a recipe for disaster! and that our political leadership intentionally kicks the can down the road for fun and profit. I dig my hand into my pocket to assist friends and neighbors in need, and like most people who feel similarly think that's just kinda what decent people do. My problem is with excess, and govt excels at excess. Back to Trump being a treasure. To me, he's like the noble soul who is called to empty the septic tank when it is full. He's necessary, relevant and without him, a situation that has been occurring over time morphs from a situation to a challenge, to a problem, to a disaster with potentially far reaching impact. In a perfect world, the septic tank guy comes in and he's professional, well-mannered, thorough and gets the job done with a minimal amount of spillage. Trump isn't that guy, but for all his faults, this septic tank is pretty damn big, it doesn't want to be emptied and it fights back. As for presidential demeanor, it's overblown and oversold. I didn't see a reference from you re:BO, but acknowledging he was a much smoother liar/cheat/fraud than DT is something I am fine with doing. However, it is 100% clear, with no wiggle room to debate, that he oversaw the surveillance of the opposition candidate for president, that the election of 2016 was not based on anything resembling a "fair" election, and in most other times in our history the masses would be looking for him to answer for his actions. Another poster mentioned he's met him and he seems like a good guy--and while I respect his right to feel that way, on this basis alone he simply is not. As for your candidate, if she turns out to be a candidate that I can believe in with real ideas that match my views on many or most of the important issues of our time, I'll hold the door open for you so you can go in and cast your vote and cast mine shortly thereafter. However, when one is a low level player---none of the jackals have yet to attack, and that changes everything. btw, as a reasonable guy, I think it's acceptable to recognize McCain's service as a veteran and stand in awe of the brutality he endured and still be able to recognize he was a political gutter rat. -
You handled this entire interaction badly, almost remarkably so. Like Ted Kennedy Chappaquidick bad, though not the "I somehow got out of the cah and dove repeatedly for several owahs to try and save hah...." bad. This bad was letting the girl die in the car, screwing around hitting the bars for 10-12 hours and then deciding it made sense to wear the clearly wrong-sized donut ring you borrowed from your dopey murdery cousin michaekl skakel to the courthouse bad. You're wearing a wrong-sized donut ring is what I'm trying to say, and everyone can see it. Sometimes it makes sense to simply take the hit, cut your losses and move on.

I know in my business, I always make certain prospective employees know that it's not really their problem if they show up late for work frequently and it's perfectly fine if they want to just call out when they want to help their landlord out of a bind. In fact, I like to help the landlord by helping the employee by hurting myself, it's a real pay it forward proposition. I dont think anyone should should ever be fired, ever. I'm not even sure you should be able to require an employee to do the job they were hired for, it's onerous and likely cuts into the time at work when they could take care of personal stuff.

The problem I have with AOC is that everything I read about her goes into my head as legitimate news, and I'm concerned about all she represents. Somewhere in my head though, just behind the eyeballs, everything written about her takes on a whole different connotation. Like, I read what you wrote and my next thought was "Oh, I'd cover her Jack". I think there is something wrong with me.
