The Greatest Cancel Culturing of All Time

Two thoughts. He looks like a guy who would tap out, true, maybe only because he did, but he does. Second, he spells his name “Geoff”. What further evidence of elitism is necessary? Would our own @Chef Jim be the considered the tough but lovable curmudgeon that he is if he was @ChefJeomm? I’ll answer my own question—he wouldn’t. He’d be famous for saying “I’m in touch with my binary side”, never winning an argument and for blathering on about how great his broccoli quiche is. I’m here to tell you, it’s a glorified omelette. Anyway, this guy—-if he goes by Jeff, everything plays out differently. See, a Jeff, well a Jeff fails all but one of the complaining students, let’s it slip that someone turned on the malcontents and laughs as they set upon the hapless bastard and rain blows down upon him. Reinvent yourself, become a Jeff and problem solved. -

If JF has an issue with the secret service planning and executing travel that includes disrupting the lives of ordinary citizens, he has an an issue with every president ever. If he has an issue with those charged with protecting the president being armed and “pointing the cannon at you”, I don’t know where he’s been since 1969. And he doesn’t really sound all that confused or confounded at all. -
I’m a wordy mofo, fa reelz.

I don’t always agree with your posts, but you do a fine job of handling yourself. You’re like a dog on a bone on this issue, however, and it seems you have an agenda you are pursuing. AD gave you an answer, it was clear and concise, time to move on.

It took less than one election cycle for the virtue-signaling libs to abandon all pretense of searching for a kinder more genteel candidate to act “presidential” and champion a guy with 5 decades of misdeeds. Biden literally has it all—lies, plagiarism, assaults, nepotism for his children, political thuggery, racial insensitivity, offloading jobs to foreign lands, hostility toward women and of course he’s a bit of a war hawk. Yet, bumper stickers all over the ole Prius abound. The people’s champion—Joe Biden!

Well obviously this bolsters the argument that Virtual Learning Picture Control is the next big thing. -
The current running tab of the Transpy Gang: -Supports the candidate of violent sexual assault and perpetual groping; -Supports the candidate with a history of supporting segregation; -Supports the candidate who promoted legislation that devastated low-income communities; -Supports the candidate with a rich history of racially insensitive commentary; -Supports the candidate who was conspicuously silent on widespread looting and intimidation by roving vandals; -Supports the candidate with a history of war-mongering and American military intervention; *Updated as of 9/12/20 to include: -Strongly against peace in foreign lands and ANY recognition for those who seek it. Jeesh. Look beyond the end of the surf board and understand that other people not like you deserve a shot at peace as well. All we are saying is give peace a chance.

What an amazing tale of survival, thanks for sharing. I got a bit turned around at the end and missed the part where your co-worker made it as well. 19 years later, reading about it and for a brief moment hoping that lady made it out....well, glad she did. A close friend of a close friend worked at Cantor and did not make it. I had met him a few times—Bronx guy, big personality among other big personalities. I visited the memorial with my son a few years back and found his memorial. Very touching visit and the resiliency of the folks in NYC was incredible.

@SlimShady'sSpaceForce mentioned theft, I replied to him originally. It's not on me if you can't follow the topic. What was the "glimmer"---just to be clear, you used that word in a prior post---you referenced when linking to the article? I read it in its entirety, then read it again, and was the "glimmer" that some licenses might not permit use in political context? You never said. The article seems to be much more a "gotcha!' then anything of substance regarding DJT. The story goes a bunch of aging and/or dead entertainers don't want their work used by a political candidate? Has DJT and/or his campaign said "Screw that, we'll just use 'Won't back down" anyway? Your link is much ado about nothing. Though, personally, I do like to hear the thoughts of entertainers on issues like this when they share them, it helps me frame how/where I spend my money in the future. -

Define “glimmer” based on this article?l. Where is the criminality as it relates to “theft”? -

We also don't know that there isn't an artist somewhere who is about to claim credit for writing the song that John Fogarty claims to have written. Who knows? -

But you called it theft, implying the music was used illegally. That's simply not the case. I understand the argument about an artist preferring their music not be used to support a political campaign, but they actively engage in the licensing because it makes them money. There's no need to pretend it's something that it isn't. -

Nope, I don't think so. Speaking generally, the music can be used through licensing agreements that the artist agrees to. What we often see is the artist who entered into said agreement raising an objection because they do not support the candidate. There is no theft involved. https://ew.com/music/2018/11/05/can-musicians-stop-politicians-from-using-music/ -
Dude, seriously, I reject the lecture as unnecessary and full of hubris. If we're all being truthful, you would acknowledge the obvious political bent on COVID that exists beyond whatever issues you have with your President. I don't trust anyone blindly, but learned long ago to ignore arguments that are one dimensional. The world is complicated, and there are people and leaders in the world that would gladly snuff out the livelihood of the working class in an attempt to rule the world. It is the way it is, it is the way it always has been, and will be the way in the future. You keep talking about the mask, I responded in kind. 98%ish compliance in my experience. I accept your thoughts on your experience. Your thoughts on people being willing to mix it up again are yours, and I believe you, but there are many people who disagree that hiding in the garage with the lights off is bad for all of us. You may well be correct that reopening our economy might well be irrelevant and mot people will stay away. I'm not so sure. As for all of us coming together, it's simply not going to happen. One simply cannot watch the comings and goings of life and come to the conclusion that we're all in this together. You cannot have one set of rules for the compliant group, while flaunting an entirely different set of rules for the those who choose not to be compliant. I wear a mask, I respect social distancing, I am as courteous possible and have been for decades. Still, I'm hard-pressed to support the destruction of businesses and the livelihoods of people across the country based on this political mess we find ourselves in now.

It is actually pretty funny though in an ironic way. Like all those dopey celebrities sending the healing gift of song by collaborating on "Imagine", a song about living with no possessions, recorded on a $1200 device that allows them to order a $12 half-caf-half-dark latte from the local Starbucks, to be picked up after a short drive down the Pacific Coast highway in a $272,000 gas-munchin lambo. Kudos to @SlimShady'sSpaceForceon this find. Somebody's head should roll on this one. -
I can only speak to my experience, but mask compliance is quite high in my travels. I'd estimate it to be in excess of 98%. I'd also agree that there are many folks who feel like you and will avoid gatherings like the plague, there are many, many others that would move on with their lives given the opportunity. The point is really pretty simple imo, snuffing out the life work of people that produce in our country is not an answer that doesn't bring with it a whole lot of other questions.

Frankish....would you mind sharing how you’re doing financially over the last six months? I’m not interested in picking a fight one way or the other, but it’s been my personal, local observation that those on the razor edge of financial ruin are much more inclined to want to get back to regular business than those who have received steady weekly/monthly income from any variety of sources. i was speaking with a restaurant owner in the Albany area yesterday. Offers a finer, higher end establishment and since he is on a waterfront, outdoor seating is not an issue (though the weather is turning), and he’s a self-made man with many other business interests. He said he’ll be fine, I did not inquire about his employees, but we discussed that 60% figure tossed about as it relates to restaurant closings across NY. If it goes that way, it’s a blood letting and the impact will be catastrophic. At some point, the logical conclusion is also the most devastating in the larger picture.
