  1. You were assaulted by Tip O'Neil. Get some.
  2. Sounds like we can trust their actions pretty much across the board.
  3. FREE THE PEOPLE!
  4. We disagree a bit on this one. The two situations are not the same. Trump made inappropriate comments about the heroic part of McCain's service to the country. Trump has never claimed to be anything other than what he is, a NYC guy who'll slice your achilles if it'll get him a better deal on real estate, and later on, he'l move on. Side note--for whatever reason, in all the #metoo hubbub, our venerable good old boy politicians like McCain and Biden get a free pass on the free-for-all that went on for decades in the senate. @transplantbillsfan linked an article one day on the subject, purporting to bolster Joe's reputation because a former staffer remarked that she never felt uncomfortable getting on an elevator with Biden, but other senators were notorious for placing fingers where they did not belong. While debatable in Biden's case due to allegations made by TR, the reality is that while they may not have been predators, they certainly were not heros to the cause. McCain famously boasted of his amazing friendship/enablement with one of the worst leches in politics, Ted Kennedy. Anyway, Harris and Biden and other ful-of-crap pollys set the table for #believeher #metoo and #timesup. They were supposedly the bridge to nextgen politics, to the end of sexploitation and all the rest. Harris, of course, gutted Kavanaugh like a fish, worked exceptionally hard to destroy him in a permanent fashion. Biden tried to appear grandfatherly, spoke of believing all women and so on, until he got his nuts stuck in his zipper. In 2020, exploitation and violent sexual assault should not be treated as political fodder by those screaming loudest for justice. Harris' dismissal of her comments about beleiving Tara Reade, and her crazy laughter when asked about it could and should be rightly acknowledged as laughing at yet another disposable creature used as a political pawn.
  5. I always thought the John McCain comments were among his worst moments as a candidate. No need to say it, no need to go there, and certainly an affront to POWs. Still, McCain was just another insider who fed at the trough, positioning himself as a fighter of the system. He was certainly a petty man, made incendiary comments and just a few years before, his war service immunity was irrelevant when he ran for President. History tells us he participated in the attempt to destroy Trump and his family with respect to leaks and dossiers. There’s more, but that’s enough for now. Seems to me there is little need for anonymous sources quickly debunked beyond character assassination. Seems to me there was a well known athlete and a number of others who were killed recently when flying during inclement weather. I’m not a pilot but I’m pretty sure it’s a thing. I’m not a golfer, but I think sometimes golfers play in the rain, and I definitely know that golfing isn’t flying.
  6. Well, that's the unusual part. Apparently he was early in his adult life, but discovered spirituality and religion later in life and decided he was not gay anymore. All this from an interview he gave in 2017. He also caused violence in Chicago according to another poster. Or maybe was from Chicago. I think the point is really, Hank Williams the Junior, Little Richard, Chicago, violence...and Mike Ditka.
  7. On that we agree. I particularly enjoyed Commodus being sent to his maker, though I thought his sister's speech was a little smarmy given that she preached strength and honor in the Gladiator pit. On the other hand, she was pretty nice looking so I got past it rather quickly.
  8. You've progressed from attempting a half-hearted characterization to making Gladiator references that do not apply. But, since we're just making stuff up, uh, it's not fun neither when you try and beat plowshares into beer steins. I think he means because I was raised Catholic. Or, not. Context matters.
  9. Considered. Rejected as unfounded and unnecessarily argumentative. Your interpretation of my comments is your burden to shoulder, and I am completely comfortable with that. As to your final comment in particular, condescending and presumptuous.
  10. Have enough self-respect to be direct, Coach T.
  11. Sometimes you make an interesting point. Sometimes your game is amusing. Sometimes you work too hard. Your argument regarding context is unfounded, and a simple google search quickly disproves Tibs’ contention about every public utterance made by President Trump. As for the article linked, a leader shows respect for those he leads by making difficult, unpopular and sometimes controversial decisions. I don’t know that the Vindman situation qualifies as any of those beyond political theater. Regardless, President Trump respected Vindman enough to be honest with him, which is enough. Perhaps in the long run, Vindman will be better for it.
  12. It probably isn’t about politics, nor is it likely about homophobic comments. A quick google search shows his replacement, rock icon Little Richard, making homophobic comments as late as 2017.
  13. I think President Trump respects the men and women in uniform. I think you’re lying when you say that “every public utterance made” by President Trump supports your contention that he does not respect men and women in uniform.
  14. Holy Crapazoley the lefty’s are pro-Military Industrial complex now too!!! Trump is the bestest ever.
  15. If Tom has been silent, he has been violent.
  16. Of course, this makes perfect sense. If you believe that someone calling out anonymous rumor mongerers as fraudsters, by extension you accept everything they have ever said on any issue as 100% factual. Everyone knows that.
  17. Apologies as I asked and got on the phone with my father-in-law about building items. Long convo, now I have to run out—more on this later tonight. Stay safe in Rochester!
  18. I’m just the idea guy, but dammit because you were the 50%. 😂 Forgive me just a second because I know you’ve shared your background. If I have it right, you’ve spent you career working in/around or with union tradesman, correct? I know you’re CFO or the like these days, and just had a question on some reports that some unions are planning disruptions as the election nears. Just wanted feedback from an insider. Am I close on all this?
  19. Apparently Lovely doesn’t have access to the internet. Based on my own quick google search, We’re running short on “elders” in NY these days, and those that are seem to get harassed and/or assaulted at a rather alarming rate. Maybe we could send @OldTimeAFLGuy and @B-Man over to calm things down a bit, but I’m not 100% sure they aren’t pre-disposed to cranky and I’m thinking 50% of ‘em are probably packing heat. And no, I can’t go because you don’t because I’m not an elder yet, I’m just very experienced in the youthful arts.
  20. and, of course, it’s up to the Defunded to limit the amount of skin grafting he will need. I’d bet the feet aren’t very sensitive though.
  21. I feel like this should not be in writing.
  22. I’d not have thought your initial post would get some of these folks so worked up. You have So Tier with very aggressive language directed at a very respectful poster—I’d say his borders on mansplainin, very poor form as society changes—you’ve got poster Under50 lobbying insults with a probably unintended creepy vibe, and BillBuke going all Contagion and calling you Patient Zed. Be honest—this is a science experiment of some sort, right?
  23. Unions are simply corporate America under a different name. They exist for the benefit of the union, generally at the exclusion of anyone not in the union. There are hierarchies, those that have, those that really have, and those that have less than the other two parties. There are stories of sacrifice, stories of apathy and of course, stories of greed and betrayal. The way I see it, there are two competing corporate entities battling to win the game. That’s neither good nor bad, it just is. Some win, some lose. As for the NBA, I think you underestimate the system that brings the wealth. While I agree that the athletes are tremendously talented, when LeBron James retires, the game moves on. The Lakers remain. The Knicks remain. It’s next man up.
  24. I used to love going to the movies. My wife and I would enjoy the break, the escape and the popcorn. Now, it’s a bit less enjoyable as I contemplate which actors/directors I choose to support and those I prefer not to. At the same time, we haven’t reached the point where the screen has a perpetual crawl along the bottom of it reminding me of all the trouble in the world, or that the fake butter and artificial sweetener in my snacks is killing me dead as I sit there. Balance is fine. Messaging is no different than the product placement for sponsors within reason. We’ll see.
