  1. Righto, best to allow him to respond as he chooses, or not. As a casual observer, you probably wouldn’t know he lied about what few thoughts I shared on the Capitol riots, and things I may or may not have linked to. I’m not sure why he chose that path, but he did. Could be he’s an emotional soul who got me confused with another poster, maybe someone named Marshall Tucker or Molly Hatchet. In the end, to avoid taking it personally, I assumed that ole Log was interested in playing “Let’s just make up ****” game for reasons known only to him. So, I replied in kind by making some **** up about what he said because that’s the way the “Let’s just make up ****” game is played. You have to have context, you know?
  2. All this on @Chef Jim ‘s sausage and the spores emanating from within, but scientific alligator arms on mass protests involving tens of thousands of individuals from all walks of life, in cities across the country, week after week after week... Of course, it’s started again as the weather Not a concern from the White House about the spread, das Fauch making his media rounds missing opportunity after opportunity to appeal to people that if you’re going to loot and burn, for God’s sake get vaccinated first! On the bright side, in NY, turns out COVID does not start bar-hopping until midnight in NY.
  3. Nope, don’t got it. Can’t follow your thought process on waving the banner for context in support of anarchists when someone is victimized by parties unknown for something they had nothing to do with. Can’t follow your thought process on death, destruction, serious injury by any party at any time just because you have some twisted rationalization as to cause. I think, honestly, that’s you’re as full of ***** as the guy lugging the toaster oven out of Walmart in support of George Floyd. As for the game you’re playing with the Capitol Protests and “links” or “support” from me, again, you’re obviously full of crap. Since that’s the game you’re interested in playing, I know at least that you’ve linked or at least commented multiple times about the anti-Asian bias problem in this country and how it’s all bs and a right wing conspiracy. Your targeting of Andy Ngo is just another in a long line of that type of garbage, and you should be ashamed of yourself.
  4. Seriously Logic, this is as weak as it gets. It’s bullsh*t of the highest order, and just to provide context, burning some &$*& to the ground because you feel like burning some &$*& doesn’t really require context. I know this because tens of millions of people who hear the same story don’t set their neighbors house on fire, throw concrete cinderblocks at the mailman’s head or loot the Dollar General when they hear it. Sounds to me like the Ngo/Prosobiec version was spot on.
  5. Yup, reasonable concern. My thought is that a lot of the mental health issue can be traced back to our societal desire to tell every child born over the past 25 years that they have mental health issues, combined with a 24 hour news cycle that reminds them that they should be worried 24 hours a day, and the proliferation of pharmaceutical drugs to treat same.
  6. I’ve heard that and it’s why I’m still contemplating a year or two after beginning to contemplate. 🙄
  7. I’m warming up to the idea myself. Been a long time since college, and I seemed pretty happy then. And if not happy, hungry. And yeah, people were always laughing at me and out to get me but i made it.
  8. I would quit that job pronto, but that’s just me.
  9. You’re trying to tell me the lines weren’t always on the map? How would people know which state they lived in? Yeah, ok. Grow up.
  10. Interesting point. I’ve struggled with the argument that the officer targeted this young man for assassination with two other police officers, one of whom is a trainee, and set it up to look like she was grabbing a taser when she knew he was going to run. Part of it is the incredible amount of planning it would take in the short period of time from when they encountered his vehicle to the shooting. Part of it is the video evidence, from body cameras that are worn by the officers to help clarify these often tragic interactions. Then again, maybe they all just watched Denzel in “Training Day” and it was just a matter of time.
  11. It’s all in the perspective Gramps. Reckless intention destruction on the one hand, often tragic on the other.
  12. I don’t know what evidence the prosecution has with respect to the officers background, comments on race or criminal past, but assuming it was indeed an unintended shooting, it’s a tragedy on several fronts. First, a man is dead who should not be dead. His death is due in part because of poor decisions in his last. Second, the woman responsible has to live with her actions due to a split second encounter that never should have ended the way it did. I’d think the jail sentence she will face is not the worst thing to come for her. Third, the community is in turmoil, with people losing their job for thinking and saying things unacceptable in today’s environment. Fourth, a key community member entrusted by the public to do the right thing violated her oath out of fear of retribution from the mob. Fifth, the narrative will be spun that this was an assassination of a man due to his skin color, leading to more unrest, more interaction, more violence against the police, and quite likely, directly contribute to more suffering, more looting, more violence, injury and death. There’s nothing about this that isn’t tragic.
  13. And Americans support it. The architect of the attempted assassination of Brett Kavanaugh was rewarded with the Vice Presidency. Chances are quite high she’ll finish out Biden’s term as his deterioration accelerates, and while it’s hard to know where Biden stands on any given day on anything, we know where she stands. https://www.nytimes.com/2021/04/09/us/politics/how-does-court-packing-work.html This should surprise no one, and what follows will be ugly indeed.
  14. I don’t play hockey. I’m not much of a cold weather fan, have weak ankles and prefer the water in my vicinity be warm and gently kissing the sandy beach I am laying on, not cold and icy like Nancy Pelosi’s heart. I’m pushing 60–I have heard people making racially inappropriate comments.
  15. I really am intrigued by your comment above. What’s the connection between racist comments and hockey? Are hockey players innately racist and I am the last one to know? Does the racism rear its ugly head when you’re banging at the boards for a loose puck? Are you on a senior club of former gangbangers or mafia wise guys? What is it that brings out the ugly?
  16. I think our emotional friend mean to include “other than when it happens all the time...when does it ever happen?”.
  17. I do not disagree, and add to that the officer has to face the consequences of her actions.
  18. I believe it. People used to bathe in their own filth back in ancient Rome. It’s like the Speedo our northern brethren seem to favor. Can you do it? Yes, if you’re an Olympic swimmer and/or compete regularly at a level where appropriate. Should you on a public beach? No, it’s not natural and it’s an affront to the natural order of things.
  19. If people can handle the transition to 6 minute abs from 7, our neighbors to the north can evolve. The whole thing was scandalous to begin with. Where did that 4th down go? Did an announcer ever say “This is three down football territory here!”? “3rd and goal from the one” brings excitement, hope and optimism for the future because we alway know there is usually a 4th down to come. I say they get busy living or get busy dying.
  20. I didn’t assume he was on drugs, I said the officers have absolutely no idea why he was compliant and cooperative until suddenly he wasn’t, and things changed dramatically and physically. My only thought in that regard is that until then, a benign and likely everyday occurrence for the officers suddenly becomes much, much more potentially dangerous. that changes everything. That does not relieve the officer of the responsibility of acting professionally, following her training and discharging the appropriate weapon, but it certainly adds context to story beyond ‘shot for driving’. I respect the concerns of people that worry about being shot for simply being black, and you’re right, I cannot possibly walk in their shoes. I only know that just like the concerns they’ve expressed, it’s completely understandable and absolutely fair for law enforcement officers to be very concerned about every interaction they have with people, and that just based on the human condition, there will be times when the outcome is tragic. The difference of course is when the officer is the victim, and the attempt to subdue results in their death or serious injury, it’s not all that newsworthy because that sort of tragedy doesn’t sell. We can agree on Longmire though. That’s enough for today. @aristocrat posted and reminded me of a point I missed. While I laid out several reasons the officers might be concerned about his sudden attempt to flee, you jumped to the conclusion that because the young man was on black, that I assumed he was on drugs (most drug users I have known in my life have been white, by a long shot). My assumption from the video is this—if the situation and conditions were exactly the same, but the subject looked like my 21 year old son, the result is the same. The police do not pat him on the back, do not apologize for bothering him, and when he attempts to flee, they do not stand back and marvel at the spunk and chutzpah of the young man as he drives away.
  21. Honestly, I’m running out of $&$& and desire to watch these days so I’m not sure what that’s all about. I recall seeing that advertised a while back, and I’d say odds are it’s pretty close.
  22. I think the NFL should figure out what a gosh durn interception is before they get up in my grill about my vaccination situation.
  23. Cop show, Netflix, based in Wyoming, centered around a county near a reservation. My wife and I have been watching it of late, lead character looks like Clint Eastwood. It’s a fun show, predictable in many cases, but don’t you dare tell me for a second that Opsaoka County in Wyoming doesn’t lead the frigging world in violent death. 🤣
  24. Serious question—when was the last time you started your day and your only goal was to get through it at work, stop at your favorite pizzeria on the way home so you could sit with your wife and watch Season 4 episode 3 of Longmire on Netflix? And when was that plan last derailed a person you have never met before, doing the unexpected and physical, absolutely 100% committed to not going with you and you weren’t sure whether he was on drugs, going for a weapon and or about to drive off and hit a school bus full of children, or a mom running her youngest child off to school because the child refused to put her new shoes on and catch the bus. And when was the last time you thought to yourself—-STOP, we can just subdue this unknown party intent on doing something other than complying by engaging in hand to hand physical contact because when we do, no bones will crack, no ACLs will be torn, no teeth will be knocked out, no cuts will be opened even though this guy is 15 years younger than the rest of us and full of adrenaline with likely far more stamina than the three of us combined. The second best thing that could have happened to this young man was that the officer actually tased him and put the incident to bed. The first was that he could have complied and no lives would have been lost or ruined. Training is always an answer and never a bad idea. Unfortunately, when people are involved, sometimes dumb, bad ***** just happens across the board and the result is tragic.
