Referee Tony Corrente corrupt as *****!!!
leh-nerd skin-erd replied to Bubba Gump's topic in The Stadium Wall
The subjective nature of the call, and the inconsistency from play to play and game to game is maddening. When Taven Black sacked JA early, he’s 5 or 6 feet from him and apparently performs a ritualized choreographed sack squat. Eyeballing the opposing sideline is apparently flag worthy enough to swing a game in the final minutes. When viewed in the greater context of the head-smacking-trash-talking-adrenaline-fueled 60 minutes of the average NFL context, some of these calls are just dumb. -
Ah, that was S3? You were gone so long on your dopey “Soufflés of the Nouvelle-Aquitaine region” senior citizen swinger trip I had forgotten that. I didn’t like that one either, and while I find his “hoax” response mildly amusing at times (not as much as @Irv and What A Mess, which makes me laugh just about every time and more so after another poster called him out for it a month or so ago), that was uncalled for.

HEY!!! We all have our hot buttons, Chef. Mine seems to be being compared to some crazy guy who’s into face painting, Viking horns wearing a sweater made of his own hair.

This statement simply reveals your inability to analyze complex issues on anything but a rudimentary level, and that is your burden to carry, not mine. It does surprise me a bit though, I thought you to be a more creative soul. As for 1/6, I was in my office in upstate NY, watching in horror as events unfolded. My response to the Ashley Babbit shooting was that with people like AB, Michael Brown or Jakob Blake, when you act recklessly and threaten law enforcement sometimes you get shot. For those that entered the Capitol or engaged in riot-like behavior or other criminal acts, I feel like prosecutions are in order to the extent possible under the law. I’ve not wavered on those issues, and in fact, when the video was released showing events leading up to the shooting of Ms Babbitt, I felt more strongly than ever that the shooting, while tragic for the Babbitt family and the officer who took her life, was justified. Of course, I also have wonder why the national media and our political leaders fond of second guessing officers and encouraging police to shoot people seemingly intent on doing them harm in the foot and demand full transparency were suddenly quiet. I shouldn’t of course, since we can see clearly the have v have nots process in play over the past year +. In most cases we have riots, destruction, damage, injury and death tolerated and encouraged by national leaders and media types. In this case, not so much. But, assuming you line up with the “Trump the bumbling fool deftly partnered with Putin and miraculously defied insurmountable odds to walk away from a massive partisan Congressional tribunal unscathed” crowd, maybe your limited perspective isn’t so surprising at all.

I was trying to skirt that issue as this thread was about the enthusiastic youngster attempting to vote, but yes, the Dems attempted a coup. That’s bad, but dem voters had multiple chances to push back but are apparently quite comfortable with that type of politicking. As I said previously, it worked.

Let’s not waste this cats aligning with dogs moment in time to conflate two separate issues. Youngkin the youngin’ seems to be guilty of no crimes and apparently broke no laws. The reason you and I likely agree here is because that’s the fact, Jack. On a national/institutional level, I remain unconvinced that fraud on a large scale did not occur, that individuals with nefarious attempt did not attempt and possibly succeed in influencing the outcome of the election. I believe this because when power is in play, people lie, cheat and steal, almost always. When I voted this past week, the ultra super duper fool proof identity check system involved providing my name, my date of birth, and the act of scrawling my name on an oddly positioned tablet using my finger. When I placed my ballot in the reader, I have no idea if it was read correctly and counted as such, and of course have no way to see how it was actually tallied. Still, I need to see proof that said fraud might have influenced the outcome of the election, there is little appetite for any deep dive into that so it is what it is. Let’s not pretend, however, that 5 years of Russian silliness and the attempt to delegitimize Trump as president did not have an impact on the way people look at our election process. The stop the steal program is at its worst the next evolution of political wrangling to discredit the president, and comes on the heels of the very successful disinformation and propaganda campaign by Dems v 45. The way politics are played these days, it’s only an issue if it doesn’t work.

Election Night: Nov 2 GDT
leh-nerd skin-erd replied to Big Blitz's topic in Politics, Polls, and Pundits
I’m disappointed because while I disagree with most of your political positions, it seems to me that you’re articulate, passionate and quite obviously well-read. Yet, you chose not to call him out on his condescending commentary and bigotry. Had someone asked me prior to today if CKA would have politely demurred to such comments, I’d have bet that you would not. But maybe it’s acceptable because women historically have not had to fight, struggle and suffer to be heard. Perhaps a little honey is for the best. It’s worked for the suffragettes, right? -
It’s mainly about the benjamins and creating new revenue sources.

This is admittedly a conundrum for me. On the one hand, I don’t trust the national media on issues like this. On the other hand, I’m forced to rely on published accounts as to exactly what happened and what the rules are that apply to the situation. That said, I’ll push on. Based on what I am reading, no, there was no attempt to commit fraud. There was an attempt to vote, however, and thankfully an eagle eyed election official noticed that he was ineligible to participate. The interesting part to me is after that all occurred, someone in a position of power tipped off the media to this story. “Young man attempts to vote, is turned away!”. That part, and what follows seems outrageously political, which brings me back to why I am distrustful of the process to begin with.

According to officials responsible for this sort of thing, nothing untoward occurred. An analogy would be he tried to return his nickel deposit bottles back to a store that didn’t accept them. Btw was Gov Elect Youngkin a stop the steal candidate?

Bi-Partisan Infrastructure Deal!

Oh I had you identified as one of America’s elite a long time ago. I bet if I googled Backintheday Kennedy I’d get pages of links on your high-falootin life, frequent golf outings, and a photo of a Tesla in your air conditioned 7 bay garage. I just don’t ever see “computers” being a mainstream thing in every home, and your younger you would probably punch your older you right in the *&*& for using the term “instacart”. -

I’m actually a bit disappointed to read this post. I recognize that the Guv likely loses out out on the free coffee if he doesn’t get all the punches on his bigotry card, but you’re “...not quite sure about…” his condescending and disrespectful characterization of a massive segment of the female voting bloc? We aren’t where we were, historically speaking, but the “you can’t trust them people” trope is how we got there the first time around. There are no new ideas, just different boogeypersons. -
Bi-Partisan Infrastructure Deal!
leh-nerd skin-erd replied to Trump_is_Mentally_fit's topic in Politics, Polls, and Pundits
Yeah well everyone loves Cap’n Crunch, but it seems like a gigantic hassle….pushing buttons, cashless transactions and have a box dropped off on your front door step. Plus, that box won’t reach me until 11/7 and it’s only 11/4. I’ll be 18 bowls deep by then! I’d be surprised to see other cereals available on the “computer”. I’m talking your Count Choculas, your Sonny the Cuckoo Birds, your Honeycomb Kids. These are children of a lesser god if you know what I mean. -

Yeah, sure Plenz. Just try and use a “computer” to order a box of Cap’n Crunch. Not gonna happen in our lifetime and it just means more delicious artificially-created-peanut-buttery goodness for me. -
I was in SC this weekend, attended the Clemson game. After that, we were in a bar in Greenville when “Sweet Home Alabama” came on, the crowd amped up noticeably. That song has had some incredible staying power, as has Free Bird.

Hey Mup- There are very few songs by Skynyrd that I don’t enjoy. I started listening to the band right after the crash, and the songs take me back to some great times in my childhood. Tuesday’s Gone, Gimme Back My Bullets and Don’t Ask Me No Questions would be at the top. Not a big fan of “That Smell” btw, probably because I started listening right after the crash and that realization that life could change in an instant was a bit overwhelming to me at the time. Interestingly, I credit LS in part with helping to make me a better father when I had children many years later. My kids were into the music of their time, including of course, some rap. It occurred to me one day as I considered my suburban, middle class child rapping along to Eminem that he didn’t really have all that much in common with the music. It then occurred to me that in 1970s WNY and in all the years since, there weren’t whiskey bottles, a handful of ludes, nor a man walking in with a gun in his hand looking for you know who. At least, not for me. So, as time went on, I tried to meet my children where they were musically (with few exceptions), listen to what they played and talked about why they liked it. All it did was bring us closer. 😉 Thanks for asking!

All we are seeing is the lather, rinse, repeat of certain people demonizing a group they choose to target. If you took the Govs paragraph you replied to, and changed a few words around you could be reading the minutes or a Klan meeting in 1955. Same with Joy Reid. With the election of Trump, it is was angry disenfranchised white men. That’s gotten stale, so now they go with “Karen’s”. There are no new ideas, just different groups to be vilified, and the same closed minded usual suspects targeting them. -

COMRADE KAY LIES IN PROSTRATE AT THE FEET OF THE DARK MASTER! COMRADE KAY MAY BE RABID OR CARRY OTHER TICK BORNE DISEASE! If we’re going full on Gangs of New York, we might as well get working on these lawn signs! Btw, I really enjoyed that movie, though after seeing the news that Leo DiCap is an eco-ambassador for the UN, in retrospect I may have cheered for Daniel Day Lewis. I especially liked the scene at the end, looking across the Hudson as NY morphed from the days of old to modern NYC. -

Rumor is that some voting adults were summoned to the principal’s office, others given detention for wandering the halls. Chaos. -

There is no room to give people the benefit of the doubt on a non-existent mask mandate. It would defy logic that there was any confusion as they established procedures for the vote this evening. -
Peterman is a lot of things, and has likely caused life long pain to many, but one thing is certain: He ain’t no rat.

I agree with all that, of course. I’ve wondered over the past several years if these people in so-called leadership positions ever heard of a virtual meeting. I’d think with the world in crisis and at the tipping point (version 5.0), they would consider modeling better behavior. On the other hand, royals do what royals seem to historically always do. As for the reporter, if you want credibility you have to earn it. If she had an ounce of self respect she would be ashamed of that report.

My goodness. So many words from the objective reporter to say “Biden fell asleep and had to be roused by one of his handlers.”. On the plus side, he definitely can catch some 💤 when meeting the guy from Indonesia.
