  1. Offense inability to accrue long drives with plenty of run, run and run somemore plays kills a 3-4. There are so few guys that one team can have that can play the nose that they wear down. Generally the team keeps fewer linemen and more backers, so there are fewer fresh players for the platoon system. Giants v Bills superbowl... Apparently the size of the Bills O-line would be an advantage, unfrotunately size does not equate to strength with these 5.
  2. Who'd play nose? Undersized Williams? Stroud? Denney would be better at LDE than at LBer, he at least is good for a bat down, aint happening off the LoS. Whose your RDE in the 3/4- Schobel, Kelsay, Johnson, Ellis... The 3/4 RDE technique is different to the 4/3 technique... Oh dear... another game and a few more ... appearing
  3. 5-4 prediction in June? The reality is 4-0 in a month of actually playing, not predicting and then an almighty 1 win in 5 outings thereafter. If i had told you that we'd be 5-4 after starting 4-0 would you be as happy with 5-4 then?
  4. Couldn't agree more.
  5. ...he needs to see the club podiatrist...this team has one, doesn't it? What with all the foot injuries, i'm sure there's plenty of work. Plantar fasciitis, clinically a tear to the plantar fascia or ligament under the foot. It can tear along its length from the heel (origin) to the toes (insertions), but classically either at the origin or in the middle (belly). Sit down, stretch out your toes and feel that tightband under the arch of your foot. Often muscle strains in the sole of the foot are called plantar fasciitis.
  6. What exactly is playing the Phil Hansen role? Kelsay is in no way capable of playing Hansen's role whilst with the Bills. Have a look back to I think 1995. Hansen had 10 sacks and was 2nd or so on the team in tackles FWIW. Hansen was good against the run and could swing from outside to inside. He may never have scared anyone, but he kept them honest. I'd take that now. There's no way with the guys we have that we can play a 3-4. We have guys who just can't get to the quarterback from the 4-3. If Schobel is way over-rated, then there is no way that Kelsay is OK unless he's "way over-rated".
  7. ...If Dockery doesn't get clubbed into Peter's DE by Jenkins, it's the DE who'll make that play after taking a hard inside rush after Peter's jumps the play...again. Although, maybe that's just hustle!
  8. My concern with Peter's is that it doesn't look like he learned much from playing against Porter last week. He got beat again on an inside rush, jumping. Luckily Dockery was there. Unfortunately for Dockery it was because Jenkins had clubbed him there. Subtract Dockery and Peter's man makes that same play. Are we going to blame it on "hustle". Will be interesting to watch how he fares in the coming weeks.
  9. Horrible coaching for the d-line doesn't help with the less than adequate talent provided.
  10. Unfortunately for us, Shaun Rogers has been playing well... (When was the last time one of our D-linemen made it off the bottom of stats for tackles? Rogers had 8 stops today. When was the last time someone from the d-line made a play, FWIW?)
  11. ...Kelsay's a defensive captain... The play from the d-line has been horrible. Some strange technique being displayed too. Other than Schobel and Wiley in recent years, we've missed on too many high pics on that front four and got plain lucky with others. Guys like Big Ted turning their careers around here, switching from a 4-3 base elsewhere to a 3-4 here after being a "bust". Paup coming over and transforming himself. Our "busts" end up out of the league after they're here. Flowers, Kelsay, Moore, Anderson, Triplett, Jones (injury), Ahanatu... ...well, at least Dallas got whipped!
  12. I did see him standing around a pile once, then looking for someone to high-five. If only he could make a play, then everyone's going to be looking to give him a high-five.
  13. I would have loved to see him "Stick" it to Ginn in that 3rd quarter reception rather than the fly over and arm tackle. He stopped him, but he could have "stuck" him, lights out and perhaps Ginn may have been hesitant crossing the safeties territory. The same with the Ricky Williams TD.
  14. Um, no it's not impossible. Just a lot harder. Probably why it's not for everyone!
  15. It looked like Dockery was just waiting for someone to appear from the inside of the line- bad line call? But when he bumped (nudged) Porter, there's no way he couldn't have seen Peters was beat and stayed on the block as he'd given up the inside... Also, no way does Peters need to take that depth of drop with pitchforks in his back anticipating what, that Porters was going to rush begind the endzone to get to TE?
  16. Bill, was there any D pressure at all? Either run or pass? Was it a case of why run when you can pass to Ginn until tired. Williams, Stroud, Denney, Kelsay, Bryan all filled in the end of the defensive stats. What can this d-line do to get more production?
  17. What's it like, about twice a year at least that that question gets asked? I even knew that answer! But definitely worth a shot at some advertising $ bikkies.
  18. I forgave Thurman his transgression. I didn't forgive Miami theirs.
  19. Like to see someone coming off the edge and breaking down the pocket. Wheels and strength required. Does Ellis have any of these. Flowers just couldn't provide the strength when he went up from the 250's and although he had the 4.7something it didn't happen. Corey Moore had the wheels, but not much else, a "street racer". Kelsay and Denney just don't bring that off the edge that upsets the o-lineman's balance and lets them work leverages and moves. At least Denney can reach to block a passing lane. Schobel has the wheels at times and the work ethic, but his lean on the outside isn't strong enough and he needs to work those counters more. See some technique work as well from Ellis...coaching?
  20. Cheers. The little I saw stood out. Running that spin into the tackle and then trying to get to the outside shoulder and get around the pocket just doesn't suit someone who's 6'7" and without wheels from the 5 technique. Wondering if technique of the D-line's factoring into the lack of production from the group?
  21. ...and then asking them to take the longest route to the QB or a technique that's probably easiest for an O-lineman to defend...
  22. Was that the Aussie Jets punter? Then his replacement was signed, got injured and he was re-signed. Then he was cut again for another punter?
  23. If someone's reviewing this game and they can be bothered, can they see how often Denney uses the spin to the outside or the basic swim move... to the outside. From what i can see on NFL.com he doesn't have the wheels for either of these moves to the outside. Also interested if he rushes from the 5 technique mostly or the 7 as the RDE? ...from a couple of plays I saw, this was really notable. Why not sub Ellis who's quicker (?) for this technique.
