I know in Australia, AFL umps are assessed, they have their own Umpire Dept. & umpire Coaches. Team Coaches will direct calls to them for clarity. It ends up that the better umpires coach finals as reward. I can’t recall an umpire being ‘dropped’, would have to look that up.

Have a friend that I’ve known since we were in mothers group together. His family and mine had older sisters same age, older brothers same age. I grew up in his house. Did kinder, Primary and High together. His mum died 4 months after my dad. Still tight. Other mate, met at uni, live about 100m away.
