Shaq Lawson possibly returning to Buffalo

Im surprised from Shaq’s perspective. Injury risk is significant for a pending FA. I assume he goes on active roster and not on PS. -

Good replacement for Obada if Obada can’t go this week. -
Marv Levy Leading the charge Saturday Night ?

Remember Bud Grant doing it for a Vikings outdoor playoff game in short sleeves? Awesome, but Seattle won, thanks to a Blair Walsh missed FG. -
Fine with me. Daboll takes a lot of heat, but what we have here works.
-
Gotta wonder if this is a spot for Daboll. He’s had Tua, and made Tua look good. Hiring him also weakens a division rival. And, he knows the division extremely well. I have to say that I’m dumbfounded that they fired Flores, though, so I wonder if they have any sort of plan in mind.

Daboll's Play Calling -- The Good, The Bad & The Ugly
SectionC3 replied to HIT BY SPIKES's topic in The Stadium Wall
I don’t begrudge the approach last night. We didn’t start to throw the ball against NE at home until it was too late. We have to try to throw into the wind. And, the Jets played it pretty tight to the LOS when we faced the wind. So we had to try to throw the ball. This. I agree that it’s time to mix a healthy Sanders into the slot. Depending on weather conditions, I’m not against running a little four wide here and there to see what happens. I appreciate that four WR takes Knox/Singletary off of the field, and that those guys have played well recently. But it’s a unique matchup advantage that may work in our favor. The other consideration is that this is round three with these guys in the last two months. So we may have to break out something different. Didn’t NE run some packages with Hernandez in the backfield many years ago? It’s not the craziest idea; again, weather dependent, I’d almost rather see us run 4 wide with Knox in the backfield than give Moss a series (as we did yesterday). Saturday will be interesting. -
Daboll's Play Calling -- The Good, The Bad & The Ugly

I hated the wildcat. Hated that sequence. I’m fine with the run there - I would have preferred going for the throat with the wind and throwing the ball downfield. Whatever. Just don’t telegraph the run. -
Amen. We let a couple of first downs slip away because he wasn’t catching the ball. All he has to do is catch it. I appreciate that the wind was a mess last night. But this can’t keep happening. Did he muff that one? I was at the game and his body was between me and the ball. Every single return is an adventure with these guys now.

It was lucky the game was moved today. It was brutal in OP until about 1:30. Weather was much better at kickoff.
-
You sir must be younger. Pittsburgh 16 doesn’t even register on the cold scale. Colts game this year was no fun, but not really that bad in the grand scheme of things. Giants 07 was raining so hard and so sideways that I had to turn my back to the field.
-
Second worst weather I recall. 07 giants was the absolute pits.
-
No. The weather this season has sucked. Cardinals game? Epically bad. Jets/Raiders in 92/93? Effing COLD. Bills falcons 92? Downpour.
-
No. I’ve been pretty clear about the OP site for quite awhile. Bills rejected downtown because of financial considerations. Here’s my guess for the state of the state: Kathy announces that she’s reached a deal with the Bills; assembly and senate will be on board with the idea as part of the budget process, and the Bills get the ball rolling on construction in advance of budget passage (hopefully, for the budget, by April 1 of this year). EC’s portion of the deal I’m not so sure about - could be as simple as deeding ECC South lands to a shell corp for construction purposes; could entail financial contribution. Likely will require leg approval, but I heard that Poloncarz has been (very smartly) setting aside stadium money in the budget for years. (Which everyone would know if they actually bothered to read it.) But my sense is that this is a done deal because I know of someone involved in the process who is on the way out (for a good reason). That wouldn’t happen if there was trouble regarding the deal.

Is there a reason Josh didnt feel like taking checkdowns yesterday?

That throw to diggs was there. I don’t blame him one bit for that one. DB made a nice play. It happens. -
The Dawkins play went for a touchdown last year. We had probably half a dozen snaps in the redone immediately prior to that play, so I don't blame Daboll for trying something different. Unfortunately the Falcons swallowed it up. And unfortunately the whole stadium knew it was going to Dawkins because it was the first time he reported as eligible all year, and it was after Doyle was reporting as eligible as the extra TE. So maybe run it with Doyle next time. Same situation, by the way, on the next snap. Moss checked in and played a split role. Whole stadium knew it was QB sweep time. And we still scored. But again, we had tons of snaps down there and there's only so much in the proverbial bag of tricks.
-
This. He was dealing on the first drive. Three drops. The Diggs drop was particularly egregious. Two INTs—particularly the pick to start the second half—we’re bad luck. The third appeared to be a miscommunications with Beasley. I’m not worried about Allen in the least.

Anyone else sensing a Bates dilemma?
SectionC3 replied to BillnutinHouston's topic in The Stadium Wall
Hard for me to tell only watching the game on TV. I'd say LG b/c it seemed like the running game picked up after the shuffle. That, of course, could be due to the fact that the right side was put back together and Dion Dawkins played maybe his best game as a pro. -

Both. He flipped when Boettger was injured. Three of the remaining four linemen changed position following that injury. Dawkins came in at LT. -
All three runs will be in the highlight reel that is played when his day in Canton arrives. That said, the best run was Dallas. The most meaningful was the NE run.

That was the moment I knew that Josh Allen was going to be something in this league.
