Thursday Night Football sucks
Dennis in NC replied to billsfan89's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Like those other folks said, if it's not one of your must-see teams, just don't watch. Read about it on Friday. It sucks that those cable companies may not carry it, but just keep complaining to them. Or get DirecTV. If you do fantasy football, well, hell, that's your problem. -
What....No Smack Talk? Bills vs Jets
Dennis in NC replied to Rockinon's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Talk is cheap. And crow tastes pretty gamey. After the way this pre-season went, the Bills are going to have to show me the baby. Don't just tell me how good lookin' it is. Sunday evening I would happy to talk some sh$%, but the team will have to do it's talking on the field Sunday afternoon. -
I am glad to see Kamar Aiken given another chance on the PS. And Jarron Gilbert looks like a very good prospect.

League-Wide Cuts Have Started - Non Bills Cuts

Here's one for all you rooster-blocker O-line people: Steelers release OG John Malecki (bit of a stretch, I know)... -
Vince Young, What do you make of it?
Dennis in NC replied to BillsLux's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
As Warren Sapp said during the Saturday night broadcast: "The trouble with Vince Young is... he doesn't like football." There is a bottom line for you. -
Vince Young, What do you make of it?
Dennis in NC replied to BillsLux's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Lombardi and W Sapp were talking about VY on that show that covers tonight's 3 games. Lombardi (I think) said the trouble with Young is "he doesn't like football". EDIT: it was Warren Sapp that said it. The statement has even more credibility coming from a player IMO. Ouch. Also talked about how Andy Reid had turned Kevin Kolb into a tradable commodity (and fleeced the Cardinals in the process), but Andy could not do the same for Vince Young. That would seem like an insurmountable hurdle for becoming an NFL QB, if you simply don't like football. Maybe Thigpen will play the whole 4th game, just to see if there is any life left in him. Yikes. What a shame to waste all Young's physical skills on a guy who would prefer to be doing some different job... -
I always got a chuckle when one of our regular posters referred to Aaron Schrobel. Every time. A little bit of joy for this son of a Buffalo city spelling bee champ.

There was talk during or after that draft that Green Bay had been interested in drafting JP Losman. I wonder if there was any truth to that, or if maybe it was planted by a clever GM (a la Nix saying Cordy Glenn was just a Guard).

We should have signed Jerome Simpson
Dennis in NC replied to Buffalo Barbarian's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
And... isn't Jerome from Thigpen's alma mater, Coastal Carolina? -
Oh, I just have to wake up by 10 or 11 o'clock and turn on the Sunday Ticket. Have some coffee (usually iced coffee), some tasty omelette, maybe some wings and pizza - has to be leftover since nobody opens that early. I've been a Bills fan since the Jack Kemp days, but been living away from Buffalo for 20 years. I look forward to a good season, now that the defense looks pretty strong.

Titans WR dead in apparent suicide
Dennis in NC replied to Golden Wheels's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
This is a moronic response to a tragic event. Sadly, it is not unexpected from someone with such an offensive screen name. -
Cordy Glenn on list of Top 10 Impact rookies
Dennis in NC replied to buffaloboyinATL's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
There is a funny song (although quite politically incorrect) about Gerald Fitzpatrick and Patrick Fitzgerald, the "The Two Gay Irishmen" Neal Downe and Phillip McCann... etc, it's a hilarious tune. Two Gay Irishmen lyrics -
For the First Time In My Life as a Bills Fan...
Dennis in NC replied to ThurmasThoman's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
This year, like never before, I am looking forward to a rookie punter playing in pre-season. I believe UDFA Shawn Powell can become the Bills new punter this summer. Oh, yeah, Brian Moorman has been quite reliable for 10 years or so. But I believe Powell can "kick the cover offa that thang", so to speak. More to the point, he can directionally kick it, Rugby-kick it, whatever the situation calls for. The little things? I hope to have ZERO wildfires encroaching on my back yard this summer! -
Very sorry for the loss of your dad, Guffalo. Those program covers are some great reminders of the Bills' past.
-
If Shawne and Mario are on the field at the same time, say on a passing down, maybe one of them could roam along the line like Bruce used to do. Very hard to defend when the pass rusher is in motion at the snap!
-
I think this is what he was talking about, especially since last year's offseason was so messed up.
-
Did you speak with Potter or Powell? It's easy to confuse the two, especially since the punter Powell can also kick off long. I don't know if the Bills are considering Powell as a long kickoff guy, but they should.
-
I really liked Kamar Aiken last year, too. But with that truncated offseason, rookies had almost no chance to learn the pro game. Especially since he was a UDFA, having no OTAs could be a big problem. Hopefully, Kamar can learn enough this offseason to make an impact in camp. I would love to see big progress from Easley as well, of course, but Aiken impressed me a lot.
-
Based on UDFA punter Shawn Powell's history, he could probably also function as the long kickoff guy (in addition to punting). Powell kicks off - over the evergreens!

The page just loaded for me, but then it crashed my Firefox browser, which almost never happens. So, something funky about that web site. -
The White Tiger / Casey Therriault story
Dennis in NC replied to Donald Duck's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
If the Bills were really interested, they could have spent a 7th round pick on him a few weeks ago. He was available in the draft, wasn't he? The Bills seemed to have zero interest in ANY quarterback this year.
