If we have to lose PW, what about Chis Hovan
JP-era replied to N.Y. Orangeman's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Edwards over Hovan? I cant see that man. Hovan is a nasty overahiever who has had a few bad years, Edwards is a guy who has really only shown extremely brief flashes. Hovans numbers and 2004 scout report: Height: 6-2 Weight: 296 lbs. Pos: Defensive Tackle Age: 26 Born: May 12, 1978, Rocky River, OH Experience: 5 years College: Boston College Name: Chris Hovan Position: Defensive Tackle Grade: 75 | Key Alert: None Comment: Hovan is a blue collar type that doesn't have great athletic skills. Appears to be very heady and instinctive player. He is excellent when he is on the move in stunts, and that is probably the best part of his game. He has decent change of direction skills, he really makes an offensive linemen work to redirect in pass protection, and can make plays in space. He is somewhat undersized, however, and despite his aggressiveness he cannot get into a lot of bull rush situations or short area fist fights with bigger, more physical offensive lineman. He is also overly aggressive and at times, in an effort to make things happen, he will take himself out of a play. While he is still a very good football player and you love his work ethic, the reality is that he is not an overly gifted athlete. He will continue to play DT in Minnesota's 4-man defensive fronts, but when the Vikings go to a 3-4 scheme, he has a chance to really flourish as the nose tackle and he can use his one gap quickness to disrupt things inside. I see that as an upgrade to Edwards, just maybe a push to Pat. -
Matt Jones runs 4.37 at 242 lbs at NFL Combine

I dont see a 240 pounder who is 6 6 standing up well to a LB who is 64 and 250 theres a fairly different body structure there. If your implying that he should play WR, I think thats a waste of a very big very athletic guy. He is too big for WR and fairly slow, he doesnt have the quick in and out of his cuts that you need. He could be a stellar TE though if he gains some more muscle mass. I actually watched him in the combine and yes he is athletic but more like a basketball player and less like the next Terrel Owens or Randy Moss. Drew Bennet looks to have better agility and quickness than this guy too, but I do think he could be the next Shockey with some added muscle mass. -
More weapons are going to be needed ...

I posted the same thing on Jones and every other team in the nation is looking at that option with him. I agree whole heartedly and Im even leaning toward adding a sleeper type talented #3 WR pretty early in teh draft. I like Jerome Mathis the best but I really like Chauncey Stovall who reminds me of Moulds. -
Id tend to agree but we havent seen the conclusion yet. It was letting go Cowart, Sam Rogers, etc... without knowing he planned to get Spikes and Fletcher. He may let Pat go but who is he getting instead, he tends to upgrade. I hope he continues that trend.

The guy was the star of the Village game, its not just speed, he has it all, great hands, built like a brick sh_t house, great route runner. He just plays for a small college. -

JP-era replied to Chilly's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
well, being unfamiliar with any other position than QB will hurt his stock some, if he started at TE for all 4 years we would probably be talking about a top 10 pick. Id say he will drop to mid, late 2nd and maybe farther because he is a tweener. -
Chuancey Stovall should be right up your alley. I swear the guy looks EXACTLY like Moulds on the field.

JP-era replied to Chilly's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
what a great TE he would be, with a 6 6 frame he could easily add 10-15 pounds and play TE at 6 6 250-260. He could be the next Shockey or Winslow. -
he ran something like a 4.6 and with sub 6' size, ouch.
-
I loved this guy and what a great addition he would be, but he may have earned himslef a solid 2nd round or even late 1st round pick with that run. My other favorite, Chauncey Stovall a bigtime possession guy ran a 4.65 which will solidify him as a mid rounder and puts him right on our radar. This is meant to be a #3 WR thread.

I cant blindly agree to that. Many Many players have bolted for the NFL, so what, its there choice. Dont forget OS wouldnt take him back. So what, he was a cocky jerk for a while. I watched his interview on NFL Network and he appears to have changed to someone much more humble. Im not talking about a 1st rounder here, in say, the 5th round who cares? -

I liked him alot more before the QB injury related crack. I think hes a tud but his attitude puts him in the "not meant for the BIlls" category. -

I LOVE that move, any one who loves the Bills and wears the face paint like (Richter I think?) is a guy the Bills should get. He has HUGE upside and is a nasty player. -
Travis Henry holding up trade to Arizona
JP-era replied to OnTheRocks's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
The way I see it is, Cards are very likely to start him day one and hes likely to rush for 1000+ next year, does he not deserve more than 1.25 mill for that? I dont mind him pursuing a new contract. -
I really hope they have some FA in mind and feel that person is an upgrade to Pat. I hope this isnt a ploy to go the cheap route, it dont think its in the Bills best interest whne they are so close. I want NO dowgrades at this point, only UPGRADES!!!

For the Nugent fans he was 12/15 but

good, he may drop to the 3rd. Players are players! -

JP-era replied to OnTheRocks's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
TO be fair, I think he is worth more than 1.25 mill next year to just about any team. Do I think he should hold out if traded anyway? NO. Do I think he should get a new contract, probably. -

JP-era replied to OnTheRocks's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I dont think he can hold anything up. The Bills own his rights, they can trade him to whoever whenever and he has no say. They may be doing the right thing and letting him and his agent do the bulk of the work, but the Bills have the final say. -

YES I DO!!!! The guy is a proven runner. I think he is not in playing shape right now. His 40 will come down. I like this, If the Bills like him they get him later now. -
