Paul Hamilton on WGR55 just said re: DB
JP-era replied to LabattBlue's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
TD tends to go class act all the way, TD is a stickler for the league rules. Theres probably nothing wrong with announcing it early but I think he will wait until he actually does it and PR will release a statement followed up by a press conf. or comment to the media as to why. -
Im a bit suprised too and it makes me raise my eyebrow on their "scouting" techniques. Just passing it along take it for what you will.
-
As far as a career with the Bills goes, yes! He wont come back here after going on two injury settlements and being so pissed after being let go last year
-
Look, I wont enter into a discussion about how much money we have and how much money people cost. Last year we did not have as much cap cash as we do this year. I see no reason that we cant add a stud LT if Jennings leaves and a Andruzzi type. OR we can resign Jennings AND sign a stud LG like Wahle. 15 mill goes a long damn way.
-
Alright, I will take a looksy and see what they say. Remember this was all going into the 2004 season. of all OG's: Chris Villarial #2 behind Will shields with a 86 grade Marco Rivera 82 Jermaine Mayberry 73 Cosey Coleman 72 Ben Hamilton 72 Bennie Anderson 70 Joe Andruzzi 68
-
Hate to reply to myself but I have a new guy to watch, Kevin Johnson is voiding his final year of his contract to hit the market. Really he is better suited to be a #2 which isnt a slot up for grabs, but maybe for the right price he could be coaxed to play #3 for us.
-
I actually agree with all and have been a spoken fan of Andruzzi. But, I guess I tend to look at it like...pay some more money and get an absolute stud.

Yeah no kidding. Heres more, this is Scouts inc. scouting report on him: Height: 6-6 Weight: 304 lbs. Pos: Offensive Guard Age: 27 Born: March 29, 1977, Portland, OR Experience: 7 years College: Navy 2004 Scouting Report - Football Scouts Inc. Name: Mike Wahle Position: Offensive Guard Grade: 78 | Key Alert: None Comment: Wahle has good size and shows the ability to engulf undersized defenders. Plays with good leverage, delivers a powerful initial punch and gets great pop at the point of attack. Takes good angles to his downfield blocks and generally gets into good position. Shows great football intelligence and rarely makes a mistake. In pass protection, has the bulk to anchor against effective bull rushers and rarely gives up his ground. However, he still lacks great footwork in pass protection and he is a significantly better run blocker than he is a pass blocker. Doesn't show the ability to change directions quickly and will have problems sliding with defenders despite athletic ability. Doesn't get a real quick set and he will need some help working against explosive one-gap defenders. Overall, Wahle possesses the ideal combination of size, strength and savvy as a run blocker. For a frame of reference they have Orlando Pace graded at 96, Will Shields (rated as #1 OG) graded at 89

Heres the skinny posted on ESPN insider: Jan. 19 - The Packers offensive line could take a serious hit this off-season. OG Mike Wahle will likely be cut before the March 2 deadline because as the second highest-paid player behind QB Brett Favre, he'd count $11.375 million against next year's cap. Three-time Pro Bowl G Marco Rivera will become a free agent. "I can't imagine going out there and not seeing Marco or Wally," coach Mike Sherman said in the Green Bay Press-Gazette. "That's a possibility, but hopefully we can work through those issues. I visited with both of them before they left and just tried to make sure that we had an open line of communication." Wahle hopes to remain with the Packers but not if Favre retires and the team has to muddle through a rebuilding process. "That will make a difference," Wahle told the newspaper. "I want to be on a team that will be able to contend for a Super Bowl." S Darren Sharper ($8.633 million against the cap) and disappointing DT Cletidus Hunt ($3.45 million) were two others mentioned who may either have to restructure their deals or be shown the door.
-
ESPN Scouts inc. rates Mike Wahle as the 5th best OG in the league. ESPN Insider rumors has Wahle likely to be let go considering he is set to count 11mill against the cap. If let go, would you pay top dollar for this guy as our new LG?

Bengals go from one head case RB to another

Rudi will sit out all next season if tagged. -
I thought for sure that I saw Tra THomas listed as UFA for 2005 but for the life of me I cant remember where I saw it. NFLPA.org has Thomas signed through 2005. Anybody have the final answer on this? Fake-Fat made a comment that he had wording in his contract that lets him leave? Is that true? Anyone got the final word? Anyone? Bueller?
-
I cant find the definite word on Tra, is he a UFA or not? I will start a post on this, hopefully someone will get the goods.
-
I still think Dillon is a ticking time bomb in NE, but Rudi is on the "clock" in Bengal land. http://www.daytondailynews.com/sports/cont...y/0215rudi.html

he had less than 10 sacks the past 3 years and is 30, why is this an upgrade to Schobel? Id feel alot better with Schobel as our #2 guy and a double digit sack guy than starting 2 #2's. Why not just start our youth?

If we take 1 step back with JP and then
JP-era replied to JP-era's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
well at least your professional about it. -
the playoffs or more for us? I dont see the problem with this concept. Wouldnt you be happy going 5 and 10 next year IF and ONLY IF it meant going to the playoffs or SB in 2006? We werent going to the playoffs next year and certainly wouldnt beat NE in the playoffs with Drew next year. Therefore, the SB with Drew at the helm wont happen. And if you agree to that statement, you must conclude that we need a new QB. Alright, next on the logic train is who is our next QB, well we have a 1st rounder on the bench, how about him? 1 step back for 2-3 steps forward is OK by me. I want the playoffs from winning the division, NOT from limping into the playoffs only to play EVERY week and ALWAYS in someone elses house! I want the playoffs in our house, I want to beat NE on a regular basis and feel good about our chances against them IF we have to face them in the playoffs. Drew didnt represent any of this to me. Even better is the concept of sustainable success. Through building a talented team through youth you have a significant chance of repeated success. The Bills are also poised for that with our own young trifecta in Losman/Evans/McGahee.

The one offseason move I would like to see
JP-era replied to spidey's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I gotta disagree, but it can be done without all the obnoxious sarcasm. The 3-4 is really great for passing O's, lacks quite a bit in the pass rush department and tends to give up a few more short yards against the run. I prefer the 4-3 to stack the line more and give a better chance for a mismatch on the line and lessen the chance for a double team. I think that the 4-3 is especially successfull when you have a middle LB that can cover alot of ground like Fletcher. For us, I think the 4-3 is the better fit. -
JP shredded the Bills D in practice
JP-era replied to BillnutinHouston's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I never heard that, do you have a link? Im not questioning you by any means only want to see the details. Thats great news! I really was unaware of that, I hope he wasnt running NE's offense. Interesting to hear that hes working with Wyche every day, this is exactly what we all should want to hear. -

Again, whats wrong with 1 step back taking us 2 or 3 steps forward? The goal is to win the damn SB. I, for one, think our road to the SB goes THROUGH NE not around it. We have to find a way to win the division. That means a change from Drew...ok we are changing from Drew to who? well weve got a 1st rounder on the bench who has talent lets try him. It all makes logical sense to me. If youir only complaint is that next year you wanted a SB or the playoffs, you were screwed no matter what, with Drew, probably with Losman,. At least Losman has upside and a chance to be better than Drew was this year. 1 step back, 2 steps forward...I like it! -

Jennings is the #1 option if Walter Jones doesnt hit the market, if Walter is out there (and he might be) all bets are off, why not go farther forward with Jones than stay pat with Jennings? -
Fez, I dont see your logic. If mediocre play from Drew meant one play out of the playoffs, then mediocre play from JP should do just as well. If he simply scrambles out of 2 of those key sacks for fumbles and TD's by Drew we go to the playoffs. NE game and Steelers game is what Im refering to. I think the mindset that mediocre play from the QB is all we need is flawed. I think the Bills are thinking chances are decent that they dont take a step back as far as games won with JP at the helm next year but even if they do, they will take 2 steps forward when JP lives up to his potential with more experience. 2 steps forward from JP may mean winning the division outright and earning a great shot at the SB, something that TD and Co. think Drew just wont do anymore. Again, Id rather take 1 step back in 2005 with JP, to take 2 or 3 steps forward in 2006 that to continue to take 1/2 a step back each and every year with Drew.

Im absolutely there with you brother.

Is Sam Aiken ready to step up as the #3 WR?
JP-era replied to LabattBlue's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
A few guys I like for this spot: Travis Taylor, Alex Bannister Jerome Mathis- big and fast he looks really good as a sleeper prospect Chauncey Stovall- I love this kid, he look just like Moulds to me, he isnt the fastest but is built and makes the tough catches and gets the tough yards. There is a chance that Josh steps up next year. Hear me out, Josh played great when we had two bonafide WR's and that where we will be again next year. Its almost like Josh will be a very good 3rd option if he has a deep threat (used to be Peerless, now Evans) and a star (Moulds). Maybe he reverts to what made us excited about him as our #2, a great #3 with Evans and Moulds ahead of him. -
Your not adding in bonus. Besides, whats your point? Two teams that didnt go to the playoffs and have overpaid QB's should stand pat with what they have and just keep missing the playoffs? You seem to be not addressing one critical part. We need to find a way to win the damn division that means beating the Pats and Drew plays crappy against them. Do you hosetly believe we can go to the SB by playing ALL the playoff games on the road? Or that we wont face NE in the playoffs? Drew just doesnt play well against them, are you willing to take that huge chance?
