Lets look at a few things here. Going into 2004, Schobel, Pat Williams, Jonas Jennings all set to be FA's in 2005. Its widely reported that we can only re-sign one before the season is over. TD even said that that was the case. Well it turns out to be Schobel. Yet, FA looked to offer other DE's that had similar type of production in players like Darren Howard, and Reggie Hayward. But, out of the three he chose Schobel. Its purely conjecture on my part but ask yourself why? If TD was so in love with Drew as his superbowl QB why would he not lock up Jonas Jennings long term over Schobel? If we had to choose between either position as far as being easier to replcae in the offseason it would NOT be the LT spot. Unless he had something in mind at LT that DIDNT include Jennings. Then, before FA begins, he starts making moves that indicate he is building even more cap cash to spend. Again, why? Surely he can resign both Jennings and Pat with 9 mill in cap cash and then get a starting LG from the draft. Most people agree that we at least have decent starters at all other positions. But he is insisting that he needs more cap cash, why? Im wondering if he has some BIGTIME player in mind. With the recent developments about Moulds, it look like we will end up 12 mill under with just that move, yet we still have the Drew situation and a possible trade of Travis and then a few players likely to be cut, Pierson Priouleau for one. Why all the cap cash? Who is he bracing us to sign? I have a few earth shakers to think about. The most likely is a stud LT with Jennings ready to leave. Again I say ready to leave because he can resign him and not need to do anything as far as the cap goes. That tells me he wants to upgrade. Could it be Walter Jones? Tra Thomas? Id say a stud LG but the Bills seem to like a few guys that should be available at their 2nd round spot. Even if they go after a LG stud, they can probably land him for 2-3 mill per. Not a bank breaker. Here comes the fun part. Theres some guys set to be out there that are studs at positions you wouldnt think we would need. Is TD playing the best player available concept if FA? heres some big name guys to wet your appetite: DT-Coery Simon WR-Jerry Porter QB-Drew Brees WR-Plaxico Burress DT-Kendrick Clancy DT-Chris Hovan CB-Charles Woodson CB-Ken Lucas CB-Ty Law-may be cut CB-Patrick Surtain-may be traded in exchange for Travis LB-Morlona Greenwood, Tommey Polley, Chris Claiborne K-Adam Vinateri I just think that hes got a suprise FA up his sleeve

What do U do w/ Bledsoe cap savings n the 2 cases
JP-era replied to Fake-Fat Sunny's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Well using your extremely conservative math where you want everything in the same year, your right. That cant happen. I dont know where you are coming from. You are assigning 4 million in things that simply dont have to happen. 2 mill to extend Nate, your number I have no idea why you are so insistant it has to happen this year rathre than mid season so it applies to next years cap, I have no idea where 2 mill comes from either. 1 mill for a backup RB, again no clue who you have in mind here, and I dont know why a 4th or later RB like JJ Arrington, Darren Sproles, or Noah Herron doesnt meet your critieria. 1 mill in cap space just to have it is far from a must have but more like a nice to have. Again, I used conservative numbers on the Moulds restructure and probably overpaid several players in my estimates, TE and re-signing Pat are the most likely. We easily could make up a few mill more just in those factors. If TD had a choice between all that I listed which includes a to tier LT or not getting abig name LT so that we can sign a backup RB, re-sign Nate a year before we need to, and have 1 mill extra cash. I think he'll take the LT eight every time hands down! -

What you state as limitations to getting stud LG's and LT's are in fact NOT limitations at all. 1) Nate is a nice to extend but not a have to have at this point. 2) Your right I didnt put a backup RB, my mistake I do see us drafting one but would also agrue that Shaud has shown enough to be the backup. I still think we draft one later on in the draft 3) Im surplus is a nice to have, not a have to have. If you insist on it, just cut Pearson P, that gives us back 1.4 mill. Your not counting the added savings for trading Travis. My numbers work even without your moves. -

What do U do w/ Bledsoe cap savings n the 2 cases

This is the question I posed to you...What/who do you see us signing with the cap savings from Drew and Moulds. I dont think that you are trying to side step my question since you seemed interested in giving an estimated cap figure and list of players and possible contracts. I just havent seen any response from you on this. Furthermore, Your post dos not even attempt to assign a new cap cash figure to us based on Drew options 1 or 2 and Moulds. What gives? I think Billsdaily does a great job of giving us fairly accurate estimated figures. Im going to use them as my resource for this discussion. First of all, we are around 9 mill under now. Trading Travis gives us another 1.13mill since he signed an extension for as much. Drew option 1, 6.5 -4.3 equals 2.2 mill in cap savings. Drew option 2, 6.5-3 mill (your number) equals 3.5 mill. That adds 3.3-4.6 mill to our cap room. Then comes Moulds. He is the X factor since no one knows how this works out. Lets say we only gain another 2 mill from him restructuring (I think thats VERY conservative). That still means a total cap savings of between 5.3 and 6.6 mill added to our 9 mill under puts us between 14.3 and 15.6 mill under the cap!!!! Second, theres no way in hell that we spend more than say 4 mill on draft picks considering we dont have a 1st rounder. The rookie cap will only be around 3-4 mill and we probably end up at say 3 mill on the draft picks. So, after Drew, Travis, Moulds, and the draft. We still have between 11.3 and 12.6 mill in cap space to spend on FA's. I feel we need to add the following: LT (jennings or other), LG, DT (Pat or other), TE, CB, K Obviously some of these positions can be added from the draft. I think we add Nugent, a WR, CB, a G/C, DT depth, LB depth from the draft. Which means, to me, we add the following from FA: LT, LG, DT, TE Lets use some TD deals from the past as a good estimation to what he pays for similar players: LG: Chris Villarial deal shows us what he would pay for a highly rated LG. OG Chris Villarrial - 4 yrs. $11.85M. SB $3.6M. I think its more than reasonable to assume we can add Joe Andruzzi at LG for the same contract. That means his cap figure for 2005 will be around 3.2 mill. TE: We dont really have any idea what TD would pay for a top notch TE or even a fairly high priced TE. Gonzales made (2004) 2 mill, Becht 1 mill, Shockey still on his rookie contract so its 300K, Dan Campbell 1 mill, Kyle Brady, 1.6 mil. Mark Campbell made 1mill roughly in 2004. I think its reasonable using that data to say that we can land either Becht or Franks for around a 2 mill cap figure. DT: Pat wont command top level DT pay. But could be resigned for decent coin. Big Sam Adams made 2.6 mill in 2004 and I think its reasonable that we could get Pat for say 2 mill in cap figure per year. LT: I left this for last purposely. If everthing falls the way Im predicting it looks like the following: 11.3- 12.6 cap cash after Drew, Moulds, Travis and draft picks signed. Andruzzi= 3.2 mill cap figure in 2005 Franks or Becht= 2 mill cap figure in 2005 Pat Williams resigned= 2 mill cap figure in 2005 Add all that up and you get 7.2 mill. Subtract what we had from this and you end up with 11.3 to 12.6 minus 7.2 equals 4.1 to 5.4 for available cap cash to sign a LT!!! Jennings can absolutely be had for this. But I think TD can get creative a sign a big name LT with this cap cash. Dont forget that there are other players who are likely cuts like Priouleau. Cutting Pearson gives us another 1.4 mill. That takes our LT cap cash to 5.5 to 6.8 mill!!! Thats enough to land Tra Thomas or Walter Jones!!!! I think all of the above is very reasonable. I purposely used conservative numbers where I over estimated the cap hit for LG, TE, and DT. And underestimated the cap savings from Moulds. I think landing Andruzzi type, one of the best TE's, resigning Pat, and signing a top flight LT or resigning Jennings is all VERY do-able. -
I agree with you because TD has made such an effort to get DE's from the draft. But, NONE of the guys we have really have shown they are double-digit sack guys and I dont see us beating NE without getting to Tom Brady. If Tom has time, he will eat you alive. The Jets and Miami have had success against NE when they rush Tom hard and get to him. Both the Jets and Fins have better pas rushers than we do. If we want to win the division we need to get a sure fire pass rusher to get to Tom. I still want us to spend big money on a LT, Im NOW leaning more toward Tra Thomas than Walter Jones.

Andruzzi and Givens.

How about Reggie Hayward, Den 6' 5" 270, 25 yeras old 8.5 sacks in 2003, 11 in 2004. Raheem Brock, Ind 6'4" 270, 26 years old, 6 sacks in 2004 Darren Howard, NO 6' 3" 275, 28 years old, 11 sacks in 2004 I like Hayward ALOT!

I think we address other spots in FA like LG, LT, and TE and then use our 2nd for Mike Nugent. Id like LT- Walter Jones or Tra Thomas LG- Joe Andruzzi TE- Bubba Franks

I dont really know how or why the attitude of many fans here has changed over the past years to accept just a wildcard berth. This is NOT the path to the SB for us! We absolutely MUST find a way to beat NE. Beating NE twice gives us 2 division wins, 2 AFC wins, and assuming the rest of the teams are beatable, we probably win the division. That means we have a bye and may play some games at home. Playing at home in the playoffs, for us, is huge. Did evryone forget how terrible our road record is? Ifd you limp into the playoffs because you built your team to simply get a wildcard spot and NOT to beat NE, we are always playing ALL the games on the road. Good frikkin luck beating a statistically better team on their home turf. Now, I dont claim for a moment that building a team that can beat NE is easy. Obviously thats NOT true. But, it is do-able. There are some things that we know will NOT work. 1) Drew cant beat em. If you like Drew you DONT like Bills going to the playoffs as a division winner and guess what, chances are good that we will end up playing NE in the playoffs. Drew cant beat em, he plays horrible against them. To me, its CRYSTAL clear that Drew at the helm=no SB for this reason. 2) We must establish a pass rush. Simply getting pressure does not rattle Tom Brady. We have to get into his face. Thats when he makes mistakes. I dont believe our current pass rushers are good enough to beat Tom, and if you cant beat TOm, you cant beat NE. 3) Gametime adjustments. We have to be able to see what Belichump is running and counter it. NE is on the way down. Both his coordinators have left, NE is trying to low-ball some key FA's, should not suprise anyone, thats there mantra. Tom is set to e re-signed but for some ridiculous reason Tom and his agent wont ask to be paid like a top 5 QB. Anyways, we have to beat NE. We cannot try to get to the SB any other way. We need to assess what it will take to beat NE and then make the changes necessary.

The destruction of this NFL enigma in Mass. has begun. And if your a Bills fan, you will love every minute of it. Phase 1: When teams show a sustainable ability to beat anyone and win the SB, the coordinators immediately become head coaching prospects. Well BOTh Crennel and Weis are gone. Crennel to the turds and Weis to ND. This can have a HUGE effect on the Pats. It most likely means all new schemes and terminology. Belicheck can be a calming force to prevent major waves and keep the transition smoother. But, make no mistake, there will be a transition. The next question is to what? We know that the Pats had something that worked, with a change comes a chance for something that doesnt work. Lets keep our fingers crossed. It may not end at the O and D coordinators either, teams may raid the Pats for QB coach or others to promote them in their system. Phase 2: The players. This is why the Pats have been successfull. Its been a TEAM of players, not players on a team. That just isnt sustainable when greed comes into the mix. Somehow, the Pats found 53 players who wont complain that they arent paid enough. For the life of me, I dont know how they kept there agents yaps shut. It doesnt matter, its about to end. The other problem with dynastys is that all the other teams now have the Pats players in their cross-hairs. They will pay top dollar for the Pats players and will steal them away from them. Its gonna start soon. In the "about to start complaining about money" category: 1) Tom Brady has won 3 superbowls now and 2 SB MVP titles yet is only paid 5.5 mill next year. This simply will not continue forever. Brady or Brady's agent will expect to be paid like a top 5 QB in the league. Then, the Pats will pay the price and eat up valuable cap space on Brady which will hurt them in other areas or maybe even force them to cut players, or the Pats will let him go and then be searching for a new QB. 2) Corey Dillon. I still believe he is a ticking time bomb. With his success at the RB spot, and his proven ability to complain, its just a matter of time before his head gets to big and he wants more money. 3) Rodney Harrison. The guy is a head case, prick and with his sucess will ask for more money. 4) Matt Light- considered their best o-line player, hes at LT, you do the math. Its only a matter of time. 5) Deion Branch, Troy Brown, Bethel Johnson. One or more of them will want to be paid like top filght WR's rather than 3rd or 4th stringers like they are now. Guys on there way out: 1) David Givens- a UFA and with Brown, Branch, and Johnson do they need him? Hes gone and that hurts the Pats. 2) Joe Andruzzi- Hes the unheralded o-lineman and IMO the best player onthat line. Hes a UFA and I hope the Bills land him. Facts are facts. Players want to be paid. And if they win 3 SB's everyone is watching them and will pony up the cash. Its just a matter of time. If any team has won with its coaching its the Pats. Again, teams will give all kinds of promotions, etc... to pry them away, both the Pats coord's are gone; lets hope they get the next Dan Henning! The Bills have been in the background...Bill-ding. And its just about time for them to claim their place in history. Its gonna happen, maybe not next year but pretty damn soon. The Bills are headed up, the Pats are headed down.

I Doubt the Bills will spend Pace level $ at LT
JP-era replied to Fake-Fat Sunny's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
why are you such a party pooper? cant we just dream for once? I, for one, would not pay Jennings 4 mill per at this point. I also feel that it would be HUGE to get a stud LT with the possibility of a young QB being at the helm. The more comfortable he is in the pocket, the easier it will be for him to learn. Rattled QB+ virtual rookie= mistakes. Again, you seem to be shooting for spreading the dough around to lots of second tier guys when we really may be better served by adding a few studs. Do me a favor and show the dollar figures and players or player types you have in mind for this offseason. Lets use 13 mill as our spendable cap cash. I think this is realistic if you add up our 9 mill already under, drew pay cut or realease, Moulds restructure, Henry trade, and a few other releases Prioleau..etc. -

How about the color layout. If the buffalo gets tweaked are the colors still good? -
Im a HUGE fan of the Polk FS or LS surrounds/speakers. I just dont have the dough to pony up or I would trust me. If you dont want to dump alot of cash, check out the Yamaha speakers. I have the medium and large pairs and the rock! I believe they were the only speakers to use ferro-cooled tweeters.

I just landed Adobe Illustrator and have been playing around. Id like to see us have a throwback type helmet. I love the red buffalo helmet with no streak but I think the Buffalo is kind of goofy shaped, needs to be charging or something. Id alos like a Penn State type single band going down the middle of the helmet. Something simple, yet stylish. I, for one, am NOT a fan of the 3 or 4 different band layouts on our uni's and helmet. Id like everything to go together better. Someone here posted some kick-a_s uni concepts that looked Falcon-ish but were cool. Please, re-post em on here so I can maybe work a helmet around em. God the offseason is BORING!

Alright fine. I agree, he is a second tier LT. Henry is a previous pro-bowler who puts up 1300+ when he starts. I agree that RB's are easier to find than LT's as far as decent to good ones go. But BOTH are pretty damn hard to find when you have a really good/great one. Henry is right on the borderline of being really good/ great and as you stated Shelton is only second tier. As far as Green goes, I read the info. I understand where you are coming from. Shelton lost the weight and still didnt start. If Green just doesn like him, the question is why? There may be more to the story than what we read. It could be an attitude problem, work ethic, who knows...not me for sure. It just raises a orange..(not red) flag to me. It says, proceed with some caution. And, if you read my response to BillsNYC you would see that my thought on our LT spot is to spend some serious dough and get a stud. I think this is the most important posit on the o-line. Why not get a sure fire, proven great one if available? If you really like Shelton, great, you may know more about the guy than I do. If you like him that much Im sure hes worth your admiration. Im not going to be ticked if we get him by any means. Ima ll for sleepers, I just am worried about taking a "chance" on such an important position.
-
BTW, how do you like the helmet I threw together? I still need to work on the buffalo a bit. Im fond of a throwback type with a white helmet. Maybe the buffalo shoulod be red, outer slash red, and top stripes blue? I think ill try it out.
-
Im ALL for that sister! Pats go down and never earn the dynasty label! Screw em! Again, Ill respectfully disagree on the comment about new coordinators changing the Pats "beat-ability".
-
Im not sure of the facts, but I dont think thats true. I think its happened several times. Im not so sure that contracts cant simply be bought out and then an entire new one is started. Even if he restructured, I think it can be done such that we could let him go long before its over and save on the next few years cap. If Drew's cap number doesnt change, no GM in the world would keep him, IMO! You simply cant justify paying Drew 6.5 mil when Tom Brady is only paid 5.5. If Drew wont fix his cap number somehow, TD will cut him, IMO. Look, Im off this topic now. We will all have to just wait and see what happens with Drew. The horse has been mashed into nano-particles at this point. Im walking away from this topic. Theres lots of other stuff to discuss.
