  1. SpongeBob IMO is right up there with Ren and Stimpy, Simpsons, and South Park. Its very well done.
  2. Absolute visual mastery. Its an all time classic that will be talked about for years. It may even become an annual must show like Wizard of Oz. I seriously put it at that level.
  3. Sorry, dont usually go on that much but I think theres lots to talk about when breaking down the QB spot and what we need.
  4. awesome movie and by far Kilmers best IMO. He had him NAILED!
  5. If JP shows the moxie to be calm, I think he will go far. 218587[/snapback] Well, heres my take. Im not sure that watching JP in mop up duty showed us much of anything. Id like to see some specific things from him that this would not have shown. Lets say for a second that some of the more tangibles and measurables are not in question, which in actuality may be a false assumption but Im feeling pretty good about TD and company as far as talent evaluation goes. I would consider the tanglibles to be arm strength, and accuracy. I would consider, in JP's case, his scrambling to be a tangible. Ill expound and say that making "all" the throws means that he has the arm strength and vision to get the ball where it should be, both long and short. Now there are some more subtle semantics that go into making all the throws that include ball placement. Lets assume that he can simply make the throws. I think in RJ's case he had the tangibles but suffered terribly from not having any intangibles. This is where the game play comes in. 1) Pocket presence- Tom Brady is the master of this IMO. This is how he makes his living as a QB. To me, pocket presence means the ability to feel the pressure and deliver the ball, throw it away, or run for positive yards without becoming rattled and making mistakes. Every QB makes mistakes sometimes, the good or great ones have good presence and stear clear of mistakes most of the time. Furthermore, Sam and company tried to teach an old dog new tricks and gave Drew a internal clock that says get rid of the ball before you get to 3. It worked some of the time, lets hope it can become a habit for JP. Since JP hasnt really thrown the ball in a game yet, you dont have any clue about this with him yet. Youngsters often try to force things or eat it instead of running or throwing it away. Really this category shows the clear difference between Eli and Roth this year. Roth stood in there unrattled and delivered the ball, mostly because he had time and a great supporting cast including the best line in the league. But, rather than blame or not blame the other players, lets stick to the QB talk here. Drew had horrible presence all year. If he wasnt eating the ball when he could have thrown it away, he was taking hits, coughing it up and in several critical cases the fumbles went for TD's. Drew did manage to show some great play fakes which lead to yardage. Thats also an important pocket presence factor. We must have a guy who will have better presence, because an all world team wont prevent mistakes that lose games from your QB, ask Pitt. 2) Decision making- This is a fairly broad category to me. Id say though that a good or great QB needs to be able to hit the best target not just the number 1 target. There should be a check down process and a QB should go through his progressions fairly quickly. He also should try not to telegraph his throws too much although this is very hard to learn. Again, JP didnt throw much in real games, so we dont know if he can do it well. Drew on the other hand chose to lock on to a target and then try to force throws, leading int's. Often he did this when other guys were wide open. Or, he would lock on to a guy, not check down, and when he wasnt open take a sack. We need a QB who can see the whole field, who can see coverage mismatches, and read and react to blitzes. We need our QB to be able to find the open targets quickly, or if they arent there, dump it down to a TE or RB, or run. This aspect leads teams to be productive even against the best D's. It is a critical factor to going deep into the playoffs. If you can spread the ball around, and/or scramble you force them to play everyone and that inevitably leads to mismatches/yards gained/1st downs/ and overall offensive production. 3) Leadership/attitude- This can be shown in many ways as you suggest. Some truly are "quiet" leaders. Thats great and on most teams its probably all you need. On this team however, I feel very strongly that you need hard minded guys who will yell and scream to get his team motivated. Havent seen it from JP, except in one pass play dropped by Jason Peters late in a game. I think we have to have a QB who has a never say die attitude and then leads his team, even verbally when needed, to have a winners mind. Drews clueless look and lackluster nonchalant attitude against Steelers in that last game told the whole story about why we need this. Drew acted like he could care less about that game and we could have and should have won. He had a ten thousand miles of dirt road stare when this was a must win game. Im sure I dont even need to tell you that this is simply NOT good enough. 4) Game management- probably folds into decision making but has more to do with keeping the big picture. A good/great QB will march down the field methodically when the game is on the line or when the half is running out. He wont waste time on the line getting set or in the huddle. Drew has been decent as far as this goes, so no real upgrade needed there. JP hasnt had games on the line or needed points with little time left yet. We will have to wait and see. Overall, we need to see JP in games before we can draw conclusions abotu whether he will cut the mustard or not.
  6. Seriously? Have your read the trash that has been posted to my football related posts and comments? Its been slam after slam. It must be that school let out or that the garbage men just got off duty. I didnt start all this smack talking man.
  7. So, Sept 7th was your arguement for keeping Drew? Seriously? I just think we need to actually be competitive against the Pats and, hey, I know its crazy talk but, maybe even try to win the division. Drew aint gonna do that for us ever. I guess your happy playing ALL the playoff games on the road, in someone else house, and being onthe outside looking in. Me, Ill cut my loses and try to go in a different direction where we dont have all this mental "bagage".
  8. Yeah, good one, yeah (said while high fiving the computer screen) DORK!
  9. Football related post awaiting intelligent response..... Waiting Waiting Bueller?
  10. Hey I got one for ya, Alaskan Darin = RJ, or Alaskan Darin = as_clown, or Alaskan Darin = ICE. Ya know, at least ICE posts football related topics, it must be your AOL account is down. Well I cant blame you, it is pretty depressive in Alaska after all.
  11. Is this a sign that your are not in fact out for some slam fest today? In a way you backed off from your normal, one-line-slam post. What gives?
  12. The only part of that that is true is that I spent 9 months trying to get out and my life trying to get back in.
  13. said from someone knowing alot about gynecology from his/her personal experience.
  14. wow, wellbutrin can help you, look into it.
  15. So I have to ask you this, I may be tremendously dumb but, are you a moderator?
  16. A rooster crowed at mid night ,a dI left some bacon under an oak tree. Maybe Drew should play in the "Serpent and the Rainbow" league. Something about Drew being a zombie, coming back from the dead.
  17. Well. im glad that you could manage to record ONE game in your brain where Drew actually did something. Me Id like to see some good play every week or hell even the majority of the time. I just watched the SF game again, in that game Drew would have been picked at least twice for TD's if its was a good team. He is just plain and simply, mediocre at best. We need more. JP MAY have more, we will have to see, but we KNOW Drew doesnt have it any "more".
  18. OK, I read what you posted SLOWLY. It all makes sense for sure. My I offer some advice? Why not simply state that you post what you post because you enjoy the discussion? You enjoy the banter and you dislike the "know it alls". You are very right, no one (self included) has the formula for winning. Your "mantra" is a sound one. But, this is a game. And as such, is meant to be enjoyed. To me, enjoyment comes from winning the games but a close second is the NFL draft. I enjoy it when we draft guys that can out there and play. I like the guys who have people get excited over. I enjoy watching teams that excite you. Thruman, Bruce, Kelly, Reed. My kind of team. Yes, Manning, yes Vick. Players that dont just play, they DOMINATE. Thats what I enjoy about this game. Personally, I DONT enjoy the Pats. I dont like watching them even if they were my team. The reason, there is NO ONE on that team that is exciting to watch to me. NO ONE! They dont have ONE star, that aint fun to me. Do they win? yes. Do they defy the odds? yes. Do they have SB wins? yes. Yes, I would love to have a SB win. But personally Id rather do it with some stars, that play like stars in big games. Just me. Now, the other difference we have, is more about how you would get there; to the SB that is. I tend to want the stars, I guess because I believe stars will make up the difference when the odds are against us or when the chips are down, plus their just plain fun to watch (see above). You seem to tend to go after the bargain basement guys. Maybe you have simply argued against stars because it seems like such a "pat" answer that conflicts with your mantra (see above), or maybe you really dont mind adding stars but dont go too far out of your way to state who your idea of a star we should get, is. Really, the discussion is more an effort between people like you and I, to discuss what we like discussing. For you its discussions about why there are no pat answers, for me its trying to find the pat answers, and/or trying to find the stars who can answer the Pats (god that was poetic). I come here, in part, because it is fun to talk Bills. I sense that you also feel its fun to talk Bills, so I think we have some common ground. Now, I really wont ever give a sh_t what you think about Joey Harrington, I still believe he will be good,.......dammit!!!?????? Anyways, good points. You actually were starting to convince that we really didnt need a 1st round QB to get to teh SB for all the reasons that you stated. In a strange turn of events, this year...happened; and throw all that out the window. Again proving that YOU were correct in saying there is no pat answers to getting to and winning the SB. The data I gave seems to say teams SHOULD get a 1st round QB, and trading for Drew seems to show that getting someone elses 1st round QB ISNT a good plan. It may also show that on THIS team we need to tip the odds and get a guy who may lean more toward being a star than leaning toward being serviceable. I dont know, obviously, but thats what our team seems to be showing. I feel we have ALL the pieces of the puzzle. Or, at least this teams puzzle. Our puzzle pieces may not fit on other teams and other teams players may not fit here, but I really do think we are very close. I do, however, feel that we have NOT gotten what we need from our QB position. Really, I feel we need a bit more as far as talent than what we got from Drew. And I MOSTLY think we need a change in attitude as well. Im not saying Drew is an attitude problem. But rather, that Drew doesnt have ENOUGH attitude and "go get-em" to force wins at times. Thats what I liked most abotu Kelly, and from what I hear, may be the part I like most about Losman. Id love to add some tough minded, hard assed leadership to the equation at QB. We really havent had it since Kelly. So, my belief is that we can and WILL be over the top as far as having what we need to win a SB if Losmans attitude proves to be that of a Brett Favre or Manning and NOT that of Ryan Leaf. And if Losman acts like a star every no and again with some stellar throws or poor-mans-Vick-like big runs for TD's. If we manage to get EITHER from JP we have indeed upgraded from Drew, which may be our single most important task going into next season.
  19. SO TRUE< I just re-watched the SF game. Drew made some HORRIBLE throws in the 1st half that would have been picked and run back for TD's if it were NE!
  20. ABSO-frikkin-LUTELY! He has a very very very good chance of having the starting job, the WRONG thing to do is blow it by not showing the team he is SERIOUS about the job. In a way, this is the first chance to see what JP is made of. Many made the comment that he was cocky, and has a overbloated image of himself. If thats true, he would probably show it by not taking this opportunity to be the "sponge" and stick with the team this offseason, learning every single thing he can to be as prepared as possible. I bet, he gets it done in his first test, so to speak, and stays and studies hard! To me that will start to cement down that he has the right attitude and approach to the game, that he doesnt think his god given talent will carry him through, and that he has MUCH to learn.
  21. Yes, actually I can. To have a writers block means you are actively trying to write and just cant seem to do it. It is a condition affecting people who have written before. My analogy states that Drew has a passers mental block and cant beat NE. He does, do we know if JP will have similar troubles? No we dont. But since JP has never started before, and has never started against the Pats, it impossible for him to have a passers block against them. Thats actually the point. JP doesnt have, well, whatever you want to call it, that prevents Drew from beating the Pats. Will he develop the same thing? who knows. I think the chances are slim.
  22. Id love to support JP with some more talent out there Mathis replaces Reed day one IMO!
  23. Ummm, we already have a "Dilfer" his name is Drew, look how far that took us!
  24. NO, the worst thing was one of our player playing DUMB and hitting our QB!!! There is a reason that they were red in practice! Do me a favor, Dont come here and claim that ANYTHING is a fact. Would you have claimed Roth wouldnt take the Steelers to the playoffs? We are closer to being the Steelers than the Giants at this point. Great D, good supporting cast, great RB, improving o-line (not as good as Pitt). Its very possible IMO that JP wins maybe 9 games and gets us in as a wildcard. More accurately, the rest of our team give us a chance to win 9 games with a very young QB rather than JP playing like a stud and doing it in his first season starting. To get in, its more about WHO those 9 wins are against than the record if your not winning the division, and I DONT see us winning the division over the Pats. I dont claim that JP has to do anything more than play as good as Drew did this year (very mediocre). If he does JUST that, he is better. He doesnt have the passers mental block against NE that Drew does, his legs are an upgrade, and his upside may have him playing like a superstar every now and again, maybe even when we need it. All of that is something Drew DIDNT do this year, and we have NO reason to think he does any better next year!
  25. Id love that EVEN more than Jones!!! I hope that NYJ lets him walk. I also would THEN hope that TD doesnt have faith in Schobel or Kelsay. Ijust dont see him doing it though.
