You studied well - Jospeh was shooting up peoples boards and had an outside chance to be in the 1st round. If Buddy can get him and say work a trade for the extra tackle in Baltimore or sign Flozell Adams for 3 years - I would already call our off-season a productive one. Not putting us in place for the playoffs, but a step closer.....Save your QB wad for next year - there will be much more quality then....

New trade partner... Pittsburg?
Kipers Hair replied to rocwocka's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Not sure the prospect of trading for another head case is what Pittsburgh had in mind. I would bet they stay where they are and take another, less volitile receiver... -
Disagree - I would bet he is the first WR taken. Excellent route runner and strong hands. His playing wieght in the NFL will be 220 or so - playing speed is much faster than the 40 time. I would be more concerned about his muntal disposition - he is another Mershawn....

UPDATED: Tim Tebow, QB, Denver Broncos
Kipers Hair replied to Kingfish's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
At the end of the day - my money says Tebow will be a decent QB. Very similar to Doug Flutie in that...he just wins. -
This guy is legendary! Fantastic.

Are we sure Bell can't be a good OLT?

This move tells you a lot about what the Seahawks organization thinks of this years QB crop coming out....

This is a good post - one franchise very active - from the top of the front office, hiring big named people and one hiring...let us just call them, lesser known individuals and not a factor in free agency. Time will tell, but this comparison will be a good one for us to follow....

Why the Bills should be better in 2010.
Kipers Hair replied to Coach55's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
There is no reason we will be better. Addition through subtraciton with jouron - I think not. I did not like him, but some bounces and the team was 9-7... We simply lack the personel to compete. -
What difference makers did the Bills miss out on?
Kipers Hair replied to Ramblin' Rob's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
On the whole, I think you are right - would be nice to see Adewale Ogunleye or Carlos Dansby or Antonio Bryant signed as they would be starters, but there is not a ton of talent available. I really think this front office should be focussed on getting rid of Lynch and Whitner to add picks to rebuild. Oh, and your 5-8 wins will be a tough one to achieve - at best, I see they with 4...in all honesty, a top 3 pick is in our future.... -
To those taking umbrage with the negative press being
Kipers Hair replied to Kipers Hair's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Perhaps this new regime possesses the necessary integrity to stick with what you believe is their approach. That said, as anyone in the league knows, it is a “win now” mentality that permits you to enjoy seasons 3, 4, 5, etc.. Unless they hit homers in the next 2 drafts, (three surefire starters in each draft), neither Nix, nor Gailey will be around to enjoy the fruits of their labor. Regardless, if they are sticking to their guns as you believe, they are not going to receive any media love unless they start to win. Frankly, I have not supported or spent $10 on this team over the last 2 seasons and see no reason to invest my time or money in the product at this time as there is no real cause for optimism. -
There appear to be quite a few people taking offense to the opinions levied upon the Bills by the NFL Network and Fox Sports. From folks other than the true Bill-ievers and Ralph Wilson apologists who will see no wrong lest the team pack up and move to a better place – what has this team done since the close of 2010 that deserves praise from the media? After trumpeting “we’ll do whatever it takes” to sign the right guys for GM and HC – the best we could come up with is Nix and Gailey…undoubtedly fine people in their own right, however, not exactly the dynamic individuals the Buffalo brain trust promised would be forthcoming. The staff assembled since then has been a literal who’s who of the who in the Hell is that guy field of coaching candidates. From a front office perspective, simply nothing to get excited about. Now, we are over a hundred hours in to free agency and the first signing – some would call it the defining signing of this new regime – is a journeymen offensive tackle whom the Raiders had been trying to replace for 2 years…at $3 Million per year for a 34 year old…not even has been…but never was. And we are critical of the media for not getting on this bandwagon? Please help me out – from an organizational and football perspective, what should the football media be excited about? As a Bills follower, I cannot find any redeeming qualities of this off season – how do we expect anyone else to?

Why are so many people assuming....

So your position is such that it is better to sit silently and smile like a "differently abled" person as the team you are passionate about continues to resonate with failure? Your solution is not to demand better and cry foul where appropriate, but muffle the voices of reason…Mein Fuehrer would have been proud of you. As a fan, one should be allowed to complain when the team is doing nothing to improve it’s position in the ever changing NFL. Do you really think the wheels of positive change are in motion at current? Honestly – in the place where your heart of a Bills fan beats and what you know of the modern day NFL and what takes to succeed come together – do you think things are continuing to progress giving us what it is going to take to compete? I myself do not, however, I have for the past 3 years come to the realization that the Bills organization no longer (1) has what it takes to succeed and (2) will not have the needed chutzpa until the Ralph sells or passes. It’s an unfortunate truth, but a truth none-the-less. Unpopular as it might seem – the best thing for the city of Buffalo and those long suffering is if some white knight would swoop in and take the team to LA. At least the animal we know as the Buffalo Bill’s would have a chance to run free and perhaps compete for something more that a top 5 draft choice and allow the good people of WNY to get on with their lives, rid the political landscape of the corruption that plagues WNY and help the region to find it’s badly needed new identity. . Stay passionate my friends. -
Welker was average too until he signed with the Pats.....Come to think of it, Brady was a nobody they drafted, Seau was over the hill as was Rodney Harrison....

Bad as they might be - a good number of them could start for the Bills. If bullets started flying tomorrow - you have the likes of James Hardy, Demetrius Bell and...who Aaron Maybin starting...not to mention Eillison. These guys are really better than what is out there? C'mon - if you want to compete - you bring in guys to compete on the field...find the right chemistry and combinations. The Bills are headed into a gun fight armed with a fungo bat and a squirt gun... -
Jake would die...literally...behind this offensive line....

I agree totally with your feeling here. Nix etal have admitted they can't fix all the needs in the draft...or free agency on it's own - but we need to do a little of both. What I have seen today only reinforces the feeling I have that, at current, with Ralph still captaining this ship of fools, there is NO chance this team will be a playoff contender or anything more than a sub .500 team. It's a sorry state, but it is a Bills fan's reality.... -
No problems with that draft....

New Spin On Shanny Not Coming To Buffalo?
Kipers Hair replied to H2o's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Does this really surprise? Many on this board have factored the weather into the desirability of the job in Buffalo. Who's fooling who - your family weighs in on the decision. -
- I too have posed this hypothesis...much to the dismay of Bills Nation. I believe you are correct in your concerns - the team will not succeed in it's current state, of which is damaging to the cumulative psyche' of WNY....
-
Excellent counterpoint....

This is from his most recent mock draft - and I can't say I disagree - seems like a stop gap front office.... "With apologies to the Bills' new general manager, we've nixed the idea of Buffalo taking Notre Dame quarterback Jimmy Clausen. The management tandem of Buddy Nix and head coach Chan Gailey just doesn't seem like a long-term arrangement, so why go down the first-round quarterback road to develop a QB they won't be around to play? The Bills offensive line was in tatters last season, and Williams is the last of the four tackles who carries top 10 value."
