  1. Nope Josh Reed had 2 tds in 06. 0 in 07 1 this past year http://sports.yahoo.com/nfl/players/5922/c...juUnH59Yc3.uLYF
  2. I wouldn't mind Peterson at all. Babin. Geez I really hope the draft proves to be the sh--. I dunno how bringing in the guy who led the KC Chiefs in sacks will improve a damn thing
  3. You really can't look into the future and see who's going to get suspened or not. The Bills problems go back further then drafting Lynch. They self create holes, and end up in dire need of filling them. Instead of adding onto a core, the Bills develop no core, rarely if ever hold onto a player, and draft based on holes that were created due to inability to keep anyone. I mean really other then Eric Moulds, and Lee Evans, and Schobel who's the last really good player we held onto for a 2nd contract in the past decade? Instead we get rid of guys like Pat Williams, London Fletcher, Antoine Winfield, Nate Clements, Jabari Greer. The Bills are still looking to replace the average production that Jay Reimersma gave us at tight end. Still adjusting their offensive line, after Mike Williams busted. Still looking for a center, and guards and have a interesting situation developing at LT. We still need defensive linemen, and lb's, while the front office seems to focus it's attention on the secondary and special teams depth. Yeah it's nice to have football character, realize right from wrong. Have a young highly paid man avoid bad situations. It would be great, to draft for people who can flat out play football, who are additions to starters. Not filling holes, for the sake of replacing players.
  4. De: 1 quality starter with Schobel healthy nothing much after that DT: Not sold on Kyle Williams as a starter. He would be more effective, in a reduced role. Would like to see improved depth LB: Stiffs. I'm not gonna bury Poz as a bust cause it's early in his career, but what I've seen isn't all that encouraging. Right now Kawika Mitchell is our best lb. He's good in a supporting role. As your best defensive playmaker you have issues. In a matter of a few short years LB went from a serious strength to a glaring weakness. I don't think it's as bad as our dline issues, but it's far from an area of strength CB: I'm fine with who we have. Area of strength. Mcgee/McKelvin/Florence/Youboty/Corner. We could do far worse. Would like to see Ashton stay healthy, he was really coming on strong last year. Nothing signifcant needed S: I dont believe this is as bad as people make it out to be. I'm ok with Whitner he's solid. Yeah we could use more of a ballhawking FS, but it's not a terrible situation. All in all, We're incredibly weak in the front 7. With a bad mix, of underwhelming aging vets, green behind the ears mlb, an inconsistent lb, and now no one to man the other olb spot. The front 7 of this defense has been screaming for upgrades for years. It's only going to get worse. I'm not sold on statistical rankings. I believe this defense in its true form, is more in line with the caliber of play they put up against the Likes of the Patriots, then being 1-2 players away from being a top 10 playoff or better d.
  5. I assume you're talking about 06 the year Denney had 3 sacks in one game in week 2 against miami Then went 9 games before recording his next sack. Followed up by a 2 sack effort the next week against the jets. Went the last 3 games without a sack. Or Chris Kelsays "breakout year" 5 sacks in the first 7 games, followed up by a meager half sack in the last 9 Between the 2nd half of 2006- 08 Kelsay has attributed 5 sacks in the last 39 games Denney in the last 32 games (since he missed 7 games in 07) has 8 sacks in the last 32 games Schobel in his last 30 games 16.5 sacks Going off this. If we get lucky maybe in a 2 year time span if they stay healthy they can reach that infamous 06 plateau. The one where people still complained about our lack of a pass rush as the season wore on, outside of Schobel. I don't know who you're trying to convince. Yourself or others, that maybe complete scrubs like Kelsay and Denney can be good if Schobel returns to form. The odds of a group of 3 30+ dends with only 1 pass rusher, can anchor a defensive system are slim-none. All 3 spots eventually need to be upgraded. For now I think it's more then fair that chris kelsay if not cut, is shown the bench, with a very reduced role.
  6. Sometimes when I read things like this, I almost believe you people live in tv suburbia with Mrs. Cunningham and the Cast of Happy Days. "don't drive cars of any kind". "Don't go outside cause gosh darnit he may get in trouble" "Have fun nights in your home" The man is 22 years old. I'm not saying he didnt make some dumb mistakes, but a little perspective would be appropriate. Lose the outside connections. There comes a point in time, where you have to chose who to surround, and not surround yourself with in any walk of life. We've all been there. Whether rich, middle class, or poor. Realize the opportunity you've been given is a special one, that will set you up for life, if handled in the right way. Also realize you can still have fun, as you're in your early 20's, with a lot more options at your disposal then the common citizen. There is hardly a need to live in a proverbial bubble, only to emerge on any given Sunday or the occasional Monday, thrusday, saturday from Sept-Jan. Young rich millionares, should be out having the best experiences of their lives. Driving any damn car they want to, with the best looking women they can get. It's seperating the illegal aspects, from harmless fun that's key.
  7. I believe Pat Thomas is a special teams player
  8. A Peterson signing I would be happy with. Although Im not sold on the prospect of Poz as an OLB. I believe he's not in a spot where we can't afford to look for upgrades at MLB. Peterson could very well be that upgrade.
  9. Eh actually it sounds terribly average. A decent wlb who occasionaly makes plays, but also whiffs a hell of a lot. Who is a liability in coverage. A Mlb who doesn't have a lot range, and is stiff. Not a great blitzer, and not that fast, but doesn't kill you. A Olb who has 1 sack in his career. Honestly I'd rather re-sign Crowell, then watch Cato June. The Bills are married to this tired scheme that doesn't work. Especially with the lack of playmakers they have in the front 7.
  10. Na they should let our LT walk right out the door with no compensation, because fans dont want to see him get paid, and create yet another hole in an endless string of created holes. This way instead of just looking for defensive front 7 players a center and lg. We can add a LT to that mix as well. Makes perfect sense to me.
  11. No thanks the hamburglar at ss is in no way a good idea. Bryan Scott at this point is a better option to play ss.
  12. Ellis- What about Ellis are you basing this preconceived notion of progression on? His lack of playing time? Where his 3 tackles on the season really that impressive? The fact is Ellis was undersized this year, and maybe some pundits were right that he's better off as a 3-4 olb then a 4-3 end. You don't go into a season expecting a gigantic step, when showing nothing all year. Schobel- I like Schobel. He's a good player when healthy. He also seems to drop weight every year. It wasn't too long ago when he was in the 260-265 range. He's now maybe 240. He may not become that 10+ sack guy anymore we desperately need. He's improved his game against the run. He's also going to be 32 years old, and will only decline. Coming off an injury. Again it's bad football design to count on him regaining years prior form Denney- He's ok as a 3rd-4th string dend. He's awful seeing significant playing time. The giant stork often stands too tall, can't get leverage, and is easily pushed out of the play. He has no speed. His ability to bat down balls, is a reflection of his lack of an edge rush. Strictly Depth Non starter Kelsay- Team Captain. Useless money stealing player. I dont know what about him the Bills brass likes, but anyone with eyes can see just how terrible this man is. He consistetly crashes down, instead of playing contain leading to easy 6 yard gains on off tackle runs and end arounds toward his size. His jump off the ball is slower then the start up time of dial up internet. His ability to close is even worse. Lacks pass rushing moves, power, and his tackling is shoddy. A reserve player making starter money. Garbage I'd rather have Copeland Bryan. He may not get stats, but he actually has some speed off the edge As far as dt goes. I agree. We have stroud and depth players. Kyle Williams would be fantastic as a rotational player. He's often overmatched though receiving as much playing time as he does. Spencer Johnson shows flashes few and far between. I guess they're giving McCargo another shot. At this point I'm not buying it. The sad fact is we lack players on the dline period with Stroud possibly being the strongest part moving foward Stroud/Schobel/Denney/Kelsay are all 30 and over. We need players across the board. I dont know why theres any kind of disagreement on this. Pass rush is still the far most important aspect to any good defense. Without it your defense is useless. Thus people considering defensive end a bigger need. I'd personally rank them relatively even. With a slight preference for upgrading the Defensive End spot.
  13. No but they can use that early 2nd on Pass rushing beast Clint Sintim from UVA
  14. Yes I agree he did not look good last year. The commitment to football would be a concern for any team signing him. However the guy was putting up numbers in Miami, and you can't really argue the front 7 talent in NE is vastly superior to that of Washington. If they were to sign him, I wouldn't be shocked when he had a bounceback season Honestly I don't recall what happened there. Maybe that's true, in which case he probably wouldn't sign with NE. The only thing I vaguely recall is there were some issues between Taylor and Parcells.
  15. What is the big deal? Tampa Bay entered the trade too late, after KC and NE had already agreed on a trade. The only !@#$ups here, are the broncos who wanted to blow up their team this close to the draft. They get nothing, and have a coach who hates his qb. A qb awho hates his coach, who are completely unsure of the direction they're going in. A wr who keeps getting in trouble, and a very odd free agency period. If anything we should just be happy the pats dont have a top 15 pick out of trading Cassel.
  16. Of which he played sparingly as a rush backer in Miami before they let him go. After recording 24.5 sacks 3 interceptions and 13 forced fumbles in his last 2 years. Put him in a front 7 with Seymour,Wilfork,Warren, Thomas,Mayo there is nothing "good" for us coming out of that.
  17. A losing season isn't made on the first few days of free agency. Losing seasons are acquired by the collective talent and subsequent depth added to the regime over the course of their tenure. As well as the collective ability of the coaching staff, from head coach down to positional coaches to maximize the players ability. Adding a backup qb was a need. Check. The Bills were not planning on bringing in a quasi stop gap starter, ala Jeff Garcia/Collins. They got exactly what they set out to get. A guy who's a backup. Maybe they got a guy capabale of starting at center. They cut bait on some bad contracts. Yes theres a lot of areas of need. Especially in the trenches, on both sides of the ball. However, for a team that hasn't been to the playoffs in a decade, and may have a lame duck coach, with a team who doesn't typically free spend. Yes they'll spend money on free agents, but not to the extent of other teams. Their only course of action is building depth thru free agency and trying to strike gold in the draft. The biggest problem being the sheer lack of astute football minded individuals in the Bills "Inner Circle".
  18. Even for a guy whos only semi interested in playing football anymore, Twinkle Toes is still a better player then Chris "Captain" Kelsay
  19. Fred Robbins may be the most under appreciated guy on the giants dline. 23 sacks since signing with the giants in 04. He would put Kyle Williams as part of the rotation rather then a starter. Good interior presence.
  20. In a word yes. All good young qb's generally come up with good receiving te's. Rivers-Gates Eli Manning-came up with Shockey now has boss Roethlisberger-Heath Miller Romo-Witten Brady- Had Daniel Graham and then Watson. The te stats in NE dropped off after getting Moss and Welker Peyton Manning- Marcus Pollard now Dallas Clark Pennington- Anthony Fasano Jay Cutler- Graham and Scheffler Brees- Came up with Gates Even past qb's like Elway had shannon sharpe. Jim Kelly had Metz/McKeller. Bledsoe had Ben Coates, and experienced a semi revival with Jay Reimersma. I know I'm missing alot, but simply put. A good receiving te opens up an entire offense. It forces the safety to respect the threat, reducing the over the top umbrella coverage on evans. Tight ends are an efficient means of converting short down and distance plays, as well as improving your redzone offense. Do we need a premiere te that can get 90 catches 1000+ yards? While that would be absolutely titillating, a respectable threat who can get 50+ catches about 500 yards and 5-8 tds a season would be fantastic. We need much better then relying on a te who has 18 career catches, or crossing fingers that derek fine can be that guy. It's time Buffalo joined the modern day NFL, and find a te worth a damn.
  21. Yeah you're right we dont see the endzone in Buffalo anyway
  22. The Bills would have a Stuppar Fine LedBetter. Seems like a good depiction of the Tight End position for the Bills throughout the years.
  23. While having never seen him play. I only have to go on the words of a couple panther fans I know, who didnt like the idea of losing hangartner and wanted the panthers to re-sign him. Wait and see
  24. 24- The Number of tds coles has had since returning to the jets in 05 33- The number of tds Evans/Reed/Parrish combined have had since 2005 Not to mention that he's a massive upgrade over Josh Reed as a #2 receiver.
