Assuming we don't ante up to Clements...
1billsfan replied to willis da illest's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I never said he was as good as Nate, I just stated he will be the replacement for him. Neither you or I know what kind of player Youboty will end up being, but from what I've read about him in last years draft profiles is seems like theres a very good chance of him becoming a good player once he gets his chance. Simpson replaced Vincent, Whitner replaced Milloy and Youboty will be replacing Clements if a deal can't be reached. It's the NFL's version of the circle of life. Nate's a very good player but he's not worth the money he'll no doubt be asking for. If Youboty proves not to be what the Bills need then they will be drafting a CB in the first round of '08. The Bills can gamble here because this team will not have a realistic shot at the Superbowl in '07 with or without Nate. I also think the Bills will hedge their bets and pickup a veteran CB in free agency so that there will be some competition for that job. Clements will end up going to the Houston Texans because I heard that's where his wife and family want to live, that's just my gut feeling. -

His replacement is already on the team, who was taken in the higher rounds of last years draft and goes by the name of Ashton Youboty. -
Clements or Fletcher: Who do you keep?
1billsfan replied to el Tigre's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Nate is not the type of player you morgage the future on. If he were looking for a deal that's on par with his talent level, then fine sign him. But he clearly wants to be the HIGHEST paid CB in the league. Even you must know that he isn't. Nate makes a lot of big plays, but he also has a knack for being on the other end of big plays too. It's always feast or fathom with him. This is not a guy you throw that kind of coin at. He's really good, not in the GREAT category. This team will have no choice but to put Youboty in as the next young gun of the defense. If he doesn't cut it next season then you know the Bills 1st round pick in '08 will be a CB. -
The Buffalo Bills may not have a choice if Nate wants a 20 million dollar signing bonus and 8 million a year (there comes a point where contract demands are too rich and will have a negative impact thats greater than if they start a second year third round pick in 2007). Add to this is that Nate may not want to be here anymore. So plan B is Youboty and/or bringing in a veteran free agent for competition. I wouldn't get so caught up in what the playoffs ramifications will be if Nate's not here, the Bills are still a couple of years away from the "Big Dance". You can't always get what you want, but the Bills may already have what they need.

What makes you think that Ashton Youboty wouldn't be a better CB than Donte Whitner? Give the kid a chance, from all I've read on the guy he seems like the perfect choice to replace Clements.

A little love for TD again from Mort
1billsfan replied to ganesh's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
TD's picks are a big part of the young core of this team (Losman, Evans, McGahee, Schoebel, Crowell, Peters, McGee). I don't think TD deserves a bashing as much for picking good players, his main problem was not picking the right coach and his heavy handed approach to the job. He does deserve some props for what seems like a good young group of guys that are coming into their own now. -
Bills had the toughest schedule in 2006
1billsfan replied to 1billsfan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I didn't know that. Win or lose, it looks like were going to be around pick 15 which will be alright. A really good LB, CB, DT or OL will be there for sure. I do think we'll go defense in the first round. -
I wanted to see what the current draft order looked like and found this interesting. The Bills opponets W-L %, which seems to be the deciding factor in drafting order for teams with the same record, is currently the highest in the league at .571... http://www.gbnreport.com/weeklydraftorder.htm Really screws us though if the Bills do end up losing to the Ravens (make no mistake, I really want them to beat the Ravens!!). The only way we move up is the Giants and/or Rams winning. Oh well, I'd love to see the Bills send a message to the Ravens and take it to them at their house.

I think this new, talented, resurging, and yes young, Buffalo Bills football team should be covered in the local media by someone that's not a cranky old coaching regect from Buffalo's past. Is the sports radio talent pool that poor up in Buffalo? Every time I hear Dickerson's name I have visions of OJ Anderson running it up the gut for yet another four or five yards.

You forgot #6... Albany is the capital of New York State not Massachusetts.

JP Losman's Passer rating 151
1billsfan replied to Catholic Guilt's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
2005 Buffalo Bills/Buffalo at Tampa Bay/2nd game of the JP Losman era... Meathead pulls JP in the beginnng of the fourth quarter Bills down only 3-13. After the game... "I put Kelly in to see if we would get a spark," Buffalo coach Mike Mularkey said. "We had to try to get something going before it was too late." That coaching move was so gutless. I'm still ticked off at how he handled Losman. I'm glad meathead is long gone. -
Funny how these guys seemed to have faded away. They were so damn annoying to put it mildly.
-
You can't get an impression looking at numbers. Losman has looked every bit the field general during these past 6 games. Period end of story.
-
Ahhhhh...ESPN. They love us so! Pennington and the Jets ranked by ESPN as better than Losman and the Bills...only morons would feel this way after watching the Jets get beat up by Bills last Sunday. Harrington and the Dolphins ranked by ESPN as better than Losman and the Bills...oh what fun it will be to watch the Bills finish them off on Sunday.

Gee, the regret is simply unbearable: Ngata has 23 tackles (10 solo/13 assists) http://www.nfl.com/players/playerpage/417708 Whitner has 73 tackles (46 solo/27 assists) http://www.nfl.com/players/playerpage/423565

Losman is 3-1 in his last four games and 4-2 in his last six. Do you have a snappy Losman putdown to go with these numbers?

Beating a 7-5 team, on the road, in December
1billsfan replied to 1billsfan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
NY Jets and Miami will always get the star treatment in the AFC. Just like the NY Giants and Dallas get all of the attention in the NFC. I don't care about that stuff so much. But it does make it sweeter to see Buffalo topple them when they get the chance to. -
was priceless. It's also a very impressive feat for a team as young as they are. This was one of the best times I've ever had at a game. Yes Virginia, there is a light at the end of the tunnel.
-
Stats are for losers. But if you were hell bent on going down that road and pick a stat that has the most correlation to a team winning or losing it'd be turnovers, not passing yards.

Will clements be a bill next year?
1billsfan replied to HudsonValleyBillsFan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Maybe if we had a lousy corner teams would start throwing the ball instead of running it. I really don't care about Clements today when there's a hole the size of a Mack truck in the middle of our defense. -
Will clements be a bill next year?
1billsfan replied to HudsonValleyBillsFan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
After three weeks of watching the Bills literally getting run over up the middle by opposing runningbacks, I really don't care much about where Clements will be next season. We're in desperate need a player that can stuff the middle. -
They'll take of Eddie "The Worm" Hochuli in the tunnel.

Rivers isn't man enough to give the Bills defense, offense or special teams any credit what-so-ever. That's ok though, I'm sure the Bills will remember the insulting comments the next time these two teams meet.
