  1. I didn't say it was a criteria. Bills fans making fun of it is a rather dubious exercise.
  2. He did beat our team at the Ralph. So we're not in a postion to mock this selection.
  3. I did fix the offensive line with Grubbs in the third and picking up Steinbach in FA. With Branch likely gone, I don't see a run stuffing DT worthy in the top three rounds. I'm looking for the more sure thing kind of picks. The Bills could take a flyer on a couple of big boy DT in the later rounds like they hit on Williams last year. You can't fix everything in one year and the most likely scenario (if McCargo falls fat on his face again this year) is that DT will be the first pick in 2008.
  4. Dwayne Jarrett - Denver, KC, Dallas, Tenn Levi Brown - KC, Dallas Darrelle Revis - New Orleans Okoye - Cinn, Denver Also, if one of the two DEs (Adams or Anderson) falls to us it might bring in some more teams. I don't think it's s stretch to think we could find a trading partner.
  5. It's contingent on a player dropping that some team way back wants badly enough to give up their second knowing they have no shot at getting that player in the mid twenty range. Guys like Peterson, Lynch, Ginn, Jarrett, Adams, Anderson or Okoye who have huge upsides. It's all hypothetical and based on the trade value chart. Of course there may not be any teams wanting a player that badly, in which case the Bills would make their pick at 12.
  6. I just don't think McGahee is a good fit for Buffalo and the time has come to do what's best for both Willis and the Bills. He seems to lack 100% effort and I think it's partly due to him being unmotivated here in Buffalo (it's just a sense I have, I could be wrong but him not gaining 1,000 yards is a red flag regarding this issue). Having a couple of Northeast lunch pail guys like Leonard and Hunt (who both seem better at catching the ball than McGahee) would seem to be a match made in football heaven for our team. Plus we get the added benefit of an extra 3rd round pick which I made on Jackson the CB out of Syracuse.
  7. I checked the draft trade value chart for the first trade: 1st round: Trade back into mid-twenties (gaining a 2nd round pick) Draft Willis or Timmons LB in the 1st rd. 2nd round: Draft Brian Leonard FB with original pick Draft Tony Hunt RB with the second pick. 3rd round: Trade McGahee for Houston's 3rd rd pick Draft Tanard Jackson CB with Houston's pick Draft Ben Grubbs OG with our original pick Buffalo's 1st 5 picks(3rounds): Willis or Timmons LB Leonard FB Hunt RB Jackson CB Grubbs OG Lastly, I would try to pick up Steinbach OG in FA to further fortify the offensive line. The only remaining holes would be run stuffing DT, TE and #2 WR which the fourth round pick could help to fill one of them.
  8. Maybe it's because the Patriots looked plain bad against the Chargers and the Colts. They were beyond lucky in the San Diego game and then they get beat by a Colts team they had down by 18 points. I saw a team running on fumes which lacked the talent of Superbowls past. There are severe cracks that will only get wider when Harrison, Bruschi and Samuels walk out the door before the 2007 opener. The Bills still have major flaws also, but I can see why many here feel the time has come for the Jets and Bills to overtake the Pats. The Bills still have a lot of work to do upgrading the talent along both lines before they can pass the Pats, but I do think the Bills will be at least as good as them.
  9. http://www.nj.com/columns/ledger/izenberg/....xml&coll=1 Makes me proud we had him at the helm instead of the tri-jerk bowl winners of Parcells, Johnson and Belichick.
  10. Patrick Willis can't cover Marv levy, let alone backs and receivers. The guy seriously sucks dropping back in coverage. Me thinks the Jets and Patriots would certainly be able to take advantage of this flaw. So basically you are drafting someone for first, maybe second down only. I'd be suprised if he's drafted in the first round.
  11. Maybe the reason they didn't choose Ngata was they heard that he was fat and lazy. Kind of like Sam Adams who they jetisoned off the team. You could be a monday morning quarterback looking at every single round of every previous draft and find a player the Bills should have taken instead. It's a ridiculous exercise.
  12. http://www.nfl.com/stats/playersort/NFL/DB...ES/2006/regular Whitner was 5th in the league among all defensive backs in total tackles (104). He was a rookie. Huff had 78 and Vincent never once had that many in his 16 year career. Roy Williams has never topped 100 tackles in his 5 years in the league. Making the Pro Bowl means very little, Romo and Rivers are made it while Tom Brady did not. The NFL's pro bowl cares very little about who's truly the best at that position. Get off Whitners back, the guy had a great year considering he was a rookie. I certainly don't remember Whitner getting beaten by tight ends or him looking foolish missing tackles much this season. I see no reason why he won't get better and get to the probowl in the next year or two.
  13. You forgot Levi Brown as a selection in the first. He is most definately on the Bills radar considering how much we need to upgrade the offensive line.
  14. What's with the rolling eyes? Seriously, what's your beef with this player? You started this thread obviously discountling Youboty and then decline to explain why you have a problem with him? Simpson, Whitner, Pennington, Williams were all given the opportunity to start with positive results. Why on earth would you have a problem with Youboty being given that chance? Here's a refresher... http://www.nfl.com/draft/profiles/2006/youboty_ashton
  15. We need to get over the fact that Nate's leaving and either Youboty or Thomas will be the replacement. Marv and Dick drafting a corner within the first three picks would basically be them throwing in the towel on Youboty being ever being starter (he was drafted in the thrid round which means he was drafted to be a starter). This is not going to happen. Youboty will be given the chance to become the starting corner, like it or not. Now given that the Bills are in a division that's extremely low on deep receiving threats (the Bills are the only team in our division that has one), the Bills need to beef up the the defensive interior line and linebacking core to stop the opposing teams running games. Part of the reason Nate had a good year was the fact that teams didn't bother with the pass since it was so easy to run on us. They also have to draft at least one maybe two offensive lineman on the first day to help our pitiful running game. Do not count on the Bills picking a cornerback on the first day of this draft. If Whitner and Simpson can fall in line and nail down a starting position, why shouldn't Youboty be able to do it also. I'm glad he'll be given the chance and look foward to seeing him play.
  16. They drafted Clements' replacement in the third round last year. There is no way the Bills will draft a defensive back within the first three picks this year. 3 of the first four picks went to DBs last year and you don't keep drafting one position if you want to build a well rounded team. The Bills will concentrate on the trenches with the first two picks with the 3d going for a LB, DE, RB, or WR. If Youboty isn't the answer this year, the Bills will draft a CB high in 2008 draft. But they have to give him the chance seeing how they used a 3rd on him (he was rated as a 2nd round pick).
  17. It seems like you're quite the @sshole. Try to refrain from replying to anymore of my posts.
  18. It seems like the common denominator of this year's playoff teams is that they ALL have either a solid or dominating offensive line. That's the ticket to the playoffs, next offseason could be spent finding the final missing pieces to get to where the Colts and Bears are.
  19. Looks like Dan Mozes (Center, West Virginia) is showing a heck of a lot of talent at Senior Bowl... http://www.draftboardinsider.com/articles/..._0124north.html What if the Bills tried to go all out in the first three draft picks by drafting Levi Brown 1st rd. (to play left guard), Josh Beekman (RG) in the 2nd and Mozes in the 3rd? Then pick the best defensive player or wideout left when the 4th round picks comes around. It seems reasonable that all three players will be there at the Bill's pick in those rounds. If the Bills did this then maybe they could start to winning the battle of third and short, keep the chains moving (which is THE KEY late in NFL games) and keep our defense off the field. Thoughts?
  20. Who cares. It's a completely subjective ranking by some stupid slubs over at ESPN. If I were to rank the stations I get on Direct TV, ESPN would rank somewhere around 120. I hate ESPN, the only watchable show on that channel is PTI. That's it, the rest is geared towards morons.
  21. Kiper no longer has Patrick Willis listed in his top 29 players, Lawrence Timmons at #23 is the only linebacker listed. What's up with that? What does Kiper not like about the guy? Is this just a horrible draft year for the linebacker postion? http://proxy.espn.go.com/melkiper/index.html I know, I know "Who the hell is Mel Kiper" ha ha ha. But him not being in his top 29 has me puzzeled.
  22. Gee, thanks for pointing out that Willis' mistakes weren't as bad as OJ's. That was very profound of you. As for the other former Bills, none of them made an interview to the media being fully on board with the team moving out of Buffalo which was the tipping point for this whole mess Willis created for himself. Bills fans don't want to hear a slacker player with three baby mommas telling them that he supports the team moving out of Buffalo. But of course you didn't mention this in your post. That's what this is about, plain and simple. A lot of players weren't too keen on coming to Buffalo, including Kelly. But they gave their full effort to the team which your buddy Willis isn't doing. His comments were offensive to me as a fan of the Bills and it will take some doing on his part to redeem himself in my eyes. I'm tired of you guys preaching about how we should feel towards Willis, try not to worry about it so much.
  23. You know you're bored when you start to check out the sleepers on some random draft sight named "draftdaddy". Anyways, I came across this potential hidden gem. You just know that Jaroun and Levy have their eye on this guy... http://www.draftdaddy.com/prospects/ranked...lSchoolOL.cfm#X http://yalebulldogs.cstv.com/sports/m-foot...arthy_ed00.html
  24. Isn't Cameron the one who called LTs number only a few times in the second half of the Chargers loss to the Pats? Rocket scientist he's not.
  25. http://www.stadiumwall.com/index.php?showtopic=58349 Looks like I beat them to the punch. No way we trade McGahee in division for less than a first though, too risky for a young back thats already put up two 1000 plus seasons. Sorry, but a McGahee to the Jets trade wouldn't go down like that Bob.
