  1. Yes but "pretty good" offseason does not make "best" offseason. I was only refuting the premise of an ESPN analyst stating that the Patriots are the winners of the offseason so far. Given the comings and goings in Patriots land, I think that's a rediculous statement and I gave the specific reasons why of which they conveniently made no mention of. I still contend the Pats are on the downward spiral. They have lost a ton of bigtime players from their Superbowl years and history is not kind to dynasty teams that are clearly past their prime.
  2. Wayne Chebret also made plays, that doesn't mean he can make up for 18 touchdowns of lost production. Or that he can replace the ultimate playmaker that Troy Brown was in Patriots history. I find that hard to believe.
  3. Spin job???? Just stating the facts, got a problem with the facts?
  4. I wouldn't put too much stock in "anonymous" sources. Most of the time these type of sources have axes to grind and/or hidden agendas. Especially around NFL draft season!
  5. Yes he said that the Patriots are the offseason winners so far. Lets see, they lose Daniel Graham (2 TDs), Corey Dillon (13 TDs) and Troy Brown (4 TDs) to retirement and they gain Wes Welker (1 TD) and Adalius Thomas. They're losing 19 TDs worth of offense from 2006 while gaining a guy who had 1 TD last year. But the fact they landed Adalius Thomas wipes away all of these key loses somehow. Exactly how many Superbowl rings does Adalius Thomas and Wes Welker have? But but, they're the Patriots...everything they do is the stuff of genious!
  6. 1st round RB - Lynch 2nd round CB - Ross, Hughes or Bennett 3rd round LB - Alexander/Everett/Waters 3rd round LB - Burgess/Shaw/Blades The Bills are going to get a very decent corner with that second round pick.
  7. Cartwheels, somersaults. fireworks while the band plays a rousing rendition of "Seventy-Six Trombones"!!!!... http://rosemck1.tripod.com/76-trombones.mid I am soooooo glad Willis McGahee is no longer a Buffalo Bill. I think this is the beginning moment of the new "Great" era of the Buffalo Bill's team history.
  8. That's life in the offseason on any NFL message board. No need to denegrate fellow Bills fans just because you're tired of the subject matter. Perhaps you're just "cool" for this forum and simply need to find something else to do. I enjoy it all at TSW...the good, the bad AND the ugly.
  9. In the year following his being traded by the Bills, Travis Henry was suspended for 4 games, had 335 yards rushing and 0 touchdowns. One more slip up and he's gone for a full season. The Bills are still in the right for getting rid of him. McGahee hates Buffalo and putting a gun to his head to make him play for Buffalo is not something the Bills or any other NFL team in the same situation wants to do for an entire season. McGahee has always been more hype than substance IMO. Mark my words, you will be happy once all of the cards have been laid on the table, just trust in Marv.
  10. We must have some Bills fans here who root for the Huskers.
  11. This kid ran a 4.41 forty and from his stats it looks like he catches passes also. http://www.kffl.com/player/16207/nfl http://collegefootball.rivals.com/cviewpla...sp?Player=36388 Could he have the potential of being a great NFL runningback? I really want the Bills to concentrate on defense with the first couple of picks (LB, CB maybe DT). So if we can find a diamond in the rough at RB that would be awesome. The more I think about Bush the more I feel he does not fit a Steve Fairchild offense at all. I don't think they take him even if he were there in the 2nd round. I think the Bills are looking for an all around back like Lynch, Turner, Irons.
  12. Sorry but "we" all don't agree that his poor yards per carry was only the offensive line's fault. I certainly don't. I know it sounds crazy but if Willis had actually shed a tackle every now and then or hit the hole instead of dance, he'd have had a much better average per carry and the line wouldn't have been disparaged. Even his agent was trashing them recently, unbelievable. They're both a couple of knuckleheads.
  13. The Bills have two choices: 1. get a first day draft pick who will be happy to play for the Bills for the next four years 2. put a gun to McGahee's head to make him play for a team that he clearly despises It's not a hard decision even for the most ardent Willis McGahee fan. It looks like thankfully for both him and many fans on this board, McGahee's played his last down as a Buffalo Bill.
  14. You say it's the line, I say it's the player. Maybe if McGahee tried to break a tackle or hit the hole, things which Dillon does with regularity, he'd have made his "crap" line actually appear "good".
  15. Maybe it's the inflated head and deflated average yards per carry that's the culprit.
  16. Dillon (platooned back) = 13 TDs in 2006 199 carries/812 yards/4.1 per McGahee (full time starter) = 6 TDs in 2006 259 carries/990 yards/3.8 per So to answer your question, yes they're serious. Dillon happens to be a better RB than McGahee.
  17. No one except the idiots.
  18. This Nate ball washing by the media has reached sickening proportions. Nate happened to be the top free agent (after Samuels and Briggs got tagged) in a very weak class. Now he's suddenly become the Lawrence Taylor of cornerbacks (just ask Randy Cross). There is a dropoff after Champ and McAllister before you get to a player of Nate's abilities. Though he was a very tough sometime gamechanging player with the Bills, Nate WAS overpaid. But the script in the media is that the Bills are always stupid and the Niners are always smart. As always, time will tell who the fools are.
  19. Just say "no" to trading up. If he falls to us then fine, maybe they take him (the injury history scares me about this guy). If he goes before us then I hope it's Lynch, Willis or a trading down scenario.
  20. Yeah, who also had 13 TDs last season. 7 more than McGahee who wasn't being platooned like he was. He could have two good to great years left on those wheels.
  21. I went to profootballreference.com and created a comparison list of some of the best 10 year or longer runningbacks: John Riggins - 14 years/2916 (last 1000 yard year was year 13) Walter Payton - 13 years/3838 carries (last 1000 yard year was year 12) OJ Anderson - 15 years/2562 carries (last 1000 yard year was year 12) Thurman Thomas - 13 years/2877 carries (last 1000 yard year was year 9) Barry Sanders - 10 years/3062 carries (last 1000 yard year was year 10) Emmit Smith - 15 years/4409 carries (last 1000 yard year was year 12) Jerome Bettis - 13 years/3479 carries (last 1000 yard year was year 9) Tiki Barber - 10 years/2216 carries (last 1000 yard year was year 10) Corey Dillon - 10 years/2618 carries (last 1000 yard year was year 8) Dillon's had 13TDs/2006, 12TDs/2005, 12TDs/2004. He's the same age as Tiki Barber (though he does have 400 more carries). Barry Sanders had 400 more than Dillon and the guy still wasn't slowing down when he called it quits (I know, totally different RBs, but wow, Sanders was special). Back to Dillon, he had 60 less carries than McGahee yet had over twice as many touchdowns. Riggins, Anderson and Bettis have shown that you can get to the big dance with an old warhorse. I see Dillon as the same kind of guy. Out of the FA runningbacks left picking Dillon is a no brainer. He's the only one that has proven to be able to carry the load. You get the added benefit of him being able to stick it to the Pats and him also knowing the other AFC's opposing defenses like the back of his hand. If they do get Corey Dillon I see the Bills going...LB round 1, CB round 2, RB round 3.
  22. I hope Marv holds strong for a 2nd round pick for McGahee. Tell the Ravens the deal can be off he he doesn't sign an extension.
  23. So you'd be also switching the Ravens 3rd with Bills 4th (instead of obtaining the Ravens 4th)? That's around 190 points which is in the same ball park. I'm just wary of Turner's contract demands.
  24. Going by the Trade Value Chart and using the Thomas Jones Bears/Jets trade as a guide: http://www.gbnreport.com/tradevaluetable.html Ravens and Bills switch picks 29 (Ravens 1st Rd) and 43 (Bills 2nd rd) = 140 points Ravens give us a 4th round/#125 pick = 47 points Total points = 187 pretty close to the Thomas deal. Note: Bears and Jets switched picks in the second round which was 200 points on the trade value chart for Thomas Jones (mid-third is the comparison) I think it's fair to say that Jones and McGahee are on the same level in terms of value. The Bills could then draft Lynch and Posluszny in the 1st round, or draft Patrick Willis and use the second to trade to San Diego for Turner (pending a long term deal of course). The first scenario is much cheaper for the Bills. This would be a fair deal on both sides. I hope it gets done.
  25. I'm tired of his side show act without the payoff on the field. I hope somehow the Bills are able to turn the page on McGahee and end up with either Turner or Lynch under a 4 year contract. It's sad when we're expected to get excited for a player to put up numbers because he's in his "contract" year so he's got motivation. Heck, I'd rather they draft Leonard in the 2nd and Irons in the 3rd than having McGahee play here another year. I don't want another player here that doesn't want to be here, that's horrible mojo for a team especially when it's a supposed star player. Thankfully all signs point to him being long gone.
