  1. Danny asked me about thinning out the "herd" and that's a foregone conclusion for any team. I've heard rumors (I have ESPN Insider) that the Steelers might part ways with NT Casey Hampton this offseason, along with a LONG look at WR Hines Ward! It is inevitable in Pro Football to change personnel EVER year. With that premise, I'd say Bryan Scott, Andra Davis, Corey McIntyre, Terrence McGee, Dwan Edwards, Spencer Johnson, and to a much lesser extent Tyler Thigpen should have a bag packed near the door, to help them leave town and catch on with another NFL team!! The free agency list I produced fits the needs category, but I'm thinking Buddy Nix and Chan Gailey know that year 3 is the make-or-break mark in this rebuilding quest. It is NOT unreasonable to expect a playoff run this next season, because they will have the knowledge that they can play with anyone with good health and a roster influx of talent (Playmakers!!)! I am expecting a good team early in September, and we'll see where they go?!?!
  2. Mario Williams is my one hope and prayer this offseason!! His presence on the defensive line (when healthy) would have a huge trickle down effect similar to Cornelius Bennett's impact when he arrived in 1987. One player CAN contribute to increased production, across the board, on any defense, and Williams is 26 years old and entering his prime. Imagine him in a Bills uniform for the next 6 to 7 years, WOW. That would make my whole offseason. Get it done Buddy.... please!!!
  3. The game is on NFL Network, for those who have it! If I recall, it starts around 2:00 P.M. Arizona time (4:00 P.M. EST) so set the DVR's or whatever they're called!!!
  4. First off, free agency signings.... Kendall Langford, DE, Miami Dolphins where we steal a player off a division rivals roster. Additionally, TE John Carlson formerly a Seattle Seahawk. Next "we" add a WR like Laurent Robinson (If you can't beat him, have him join you!!). The NFL selection meeting nets this, as follows: 10.) Jonathan Martin, OLT, Stanford 41.) Andre Branch, OLB/DE, Clemson 72.) Cordarro Law, DE, Southern Mississippi 108.) Keith Tandy, CB, West Virginia 124.) Jordan White, WR, Western Micigan 5th round- Omar Bolden, CB, Arizona State 6th round- Russell Wilson, QB, Wisconsin 6th rounder- Terrence Ganaway, RB, Baylor 7th rounder- Kyle Wilber, OLB, Wake Forest I think the realistic viewpoint is entered here, however, I am hoping for a blockbuster such as Mario Williams, DE, Houston Texans ( Then no Langford!).
  5. I watched the game, and their was a WR named LaMark Brown III that caught everything thrown his way including the winning TD with seconds to go in the game!! Faulkner was his QB, and he threw the ball well and helped the West team win the ballgame. Corderro Law DE out of Southern Miss player, and he is a prospect at DE the Bills should keep an eye on! Another player was a kid named Drew Nowak, DT out of Western Michigan, and he reminded me of Kyle Williams insofar as style of play.... intense.
  6. Again, I'd like to play along 4 rounds deep.... 10.) Jonathan Martin, OT, Stanford 41.) Peter Konz, C, Wisconsin 72.) Jeff Fuller, WR, Texas A&M 108.) Ryan Lindley, QB, San Diego State 122.) Jeff Allen, OG, Illinois You "win" up front and hence, three OL's in this draft!!
  7. I won't go 7 rounds deep, but I'd like to "play along" with this defensive theme! 10.) Whitney Mercilus, DE, Illinois 41.) Stephon Gilmore, CB, South Carolina 72.)Corderro Law, DE, Southern Mississippi 108.) Jamell Fleming, CB, Oklahoma 122.) Kyle Wilber, OLB, Wake Forest The pick #'s are just estimates with 2 compensatory selections "hung" at the end of round 3!!
  8. Our top sacker was Dareus, and he "racked up" 5.5 in total. Mario Williams got 5 in 5 games before he got hurt. He would be a cornerstone player in the 4-3, and incidently, he plays out of position in Houston. I think a return to DE would please him greatly!! Add another DE high in the draft to top it off, if you ask me....
  9. GOBILLS78,I noticed that aspect too, and during the telecast they put up the Marshall stats defensively and they were NOT at all good by any means! Does this point to stamina, or is it a coaching decision? It does however, beg the question....
  10. First off, I didn't see the entire game (phone call) but I did notice Vinny Curry NOT getting off on the snap on a few plays. His overall play leads me to believe he'll stand up in the Pros, but I wouldn't think of him in the first two rounds off of what I saw. He does have an NFL physique, and will likely help out as a starter in year 2 or 3, so he is worth a look for a Bills defense that needs a pass rusher or three desperately!!
  11. The offense seems to be a minor tweek or two away, so building a DOMINANT defense is job number one to me! The draft always dictates selections based on how the teams ahead decide to draft. The big, game breaker at WR might very well be there when we pick, but overall, especially in our division, a big nasty, mobile, defense is the ticket!!! Unfortunately, the draft doesn't seem to be loaded at OLB, unless the undersized DE's are able to make coversions. A Marcell Dareus clone opposite from him would do wonders for the base "D" because Dwan Edwards can be replaced in the not too distant future. I agree that CB is also a concern, but veteran help could bolster this aspect nicely.
  12. God Bless Ralph Wilson, because he kept Kevin from a miserable life of wheelchairs, constant nursing, being unable to feed himself, and a host of things we ALL take for granted!
  13. If the draft falls whereby the Bills have a bonified OLT on the table, that trumps ORT every day and twice on Sunday!! A pass rushing OLB is a must in a 3-4 alignment, so I'd look hard and fast at that option too. Obviously, I've NOT mentioned QB yet, howeever, a QB to groom like Weeden or Foles would be a good add later on!
  14. The Patriots torched Benny Sapp ALL game minus the interception! He's the guy I'd go after if gameplanning for the Dolphins.
  15. The NFC has heavyweights in Philly, Green Bay, and New Orleans with Atlanta a small step behind. That race will be riviting, IMO. The Bills will really play spoiler this year, and "steal" a handful of victories we are NOT predicting right now. The AFC is probably going to include the same cast of characters as the last few seasons, but Kansas City will falter as the defending AFC West champ. Pitts., Balt, NYJ and New England are the presumptive favorities, but I'd love it if one or two of these teams, especially the Jets and Patriots drop like a stone and NOT meet expectations.
  16. Simply put, go look at the roster for the opening of the 2010 season, and compare it with this years version and you can't help but see that this is a team on the rise! Albeit, going from 3rd worst upward is a long climb, but it MUST start somewhere, and Buddy and crew have made it work. Additionally, the RE-build isn't finished yet, so don't expect a very young team to have playoff asperations this season. The kiddie corps on defense will grow together and make for some awesome units in the NOT too distant future, and a bonified franchise signal-caller is only a year away, IMO, and the Atlanta model of drafting a QB and OLT (Matt Ryan and Sam Baker) in round one could be the key to next year and beyond. I am optimistic, going forward, and see 2011 as a springboard to better teams in 2012 and 2013.
  17. This just in from prediction central..... Matt Cassel will, in all likelihood, play (flack jacket) and he probably doesn't aggrevate the injury one iota. On the other hand losing TE Moeoki will be a tough loss for them throughout the season!
  18. I think Antonio Coleman had a solid preseason showing, and deserved better! He is eligible for the practice squad, I hope, because he can play in my estimation.
  19. My moment was in 1988/89 when the Phoenix (at the time) Cardinals drafted Tim McDonald a safety out of U.S.C., and we needed a safety to round out the deep secondary. I opened a Sporting News roster of teams around the league and Leonard Smith popped out as a probable acquisition! Lo and behold, the Bills actually added him within a week of my "search" and the rest is history.
  20. There are three names I NEVER want to hear or see again! They are David Doty, Susan Nelson, and Arthur Boylin!! In addition, if I hear anything about the 8th Curcuit Court of Appeals, it better be about the railroads, airlines or other industries instead...
  21. Very close to EXACTLY what I'd like to see on April 28th and 29th!! The only other way is Dareus and Reed back-to-back on Thursday/Friday. They NEED soooo much help up front and getting Dareus is the signature of this draft IF they get him.GO BILLS!!
  22. I live just outside Phoenix, but go to Wisconsin to join my best friend and watch 27,000 hours of draft coverage. This year I'm not flying, but taking Amtrak from Flagstaff, AZ to Milwaukee to get there. Hopefully, it will be fun!Anyone done trips on Amtrak? O.K. or not so much? I'm thinking that it can't be bad, at all, but I've NEVER travelled by rail before.
  23. In the ever expanding world of "reading between the lines", it seems to me that you take the top 3 players and amongst yourselves, select the most likely candidate for the title of "damn, I wish we'd not missed out on said player". Marcell Dareus is my selection in this guessing game, any other guesses??
  24. If, and only if, he can play both ways and be stout against the run! Marcell Dareus is ideal for the Bills going forward.
  25. First off, I loved the latest edition! The only tweek I'd add is Casey Matthews for Chris White. Everyone else is a slam dunk!! I love the first two hondo's as Brooks Reed is my favorite player, or at least one of them, and Nick Fairley is UNFAIRLY dropping in this meat market known as the draft! Simply love it....
