  1. I think the question about Meachem and Anderson becomes a tale of two players who are STILL trying to establish themselves, so overall it becomes a wash to me! It is quite likely the notion from many here that Mark Anderson's production is nearly assured due to who he'll being playing next to, and Meachem will possibly pull a Alvin Harper now that he is essentially San Diego's #1 receiver! Hopefully, Mark Anderson sees this as a huge chance to finally turn the corner on a fine career. I'm thinking that he does succeed in Buffalo, and RM has some troubles out in San Diego.
  2. This one is fishy, he was All Pro quality for Phillip Rivers not more than two years ago, and now can't garner any interest on the open market?! I suspect injury is a HUGE red flag for him, unfortunately!! My major question is what visits has he made and to who, and what was the hang-up? Did he fail a physical? Asking for way too much money?
  3. By the way, we now own the 71st pick in round three! The Saints lost pick #59, so the value creeps up slightly! Houston will undoubtedly garner a 3rd rounder for the loss of Mario Williams next year, bank on it. The award of picks are as such.... One third rounder (Oakland) Eight fourth rounders Three fifth rounders Six sixth rounders and fourteen seventh rounders! The Packers and Jets have the most with four.
  4. I am still left wondering IF Malcom Floyd is BPA, which is exactly what Buffalo will select at that point in the draft! My feeling is that the Bills can now take the strengths of this draft, and pick solid, if not superior talent at DT, CB, or WR (later on in the process!). I'd love a DT like Fletcher Cox to anchor the DT position for years to come! Cornerback should be the next selection, and there is good players at 41. Sean Spence will still be there, IMO, at 71, and ghe would benefit with a year in the weight room an adding to his frame, going forward. Marvin McNutt is a talent and should be around at 104. Just a few thoughts on the topic gents!!
  5. It was reported to be $22 million prior to the Mark Anderson signing by NFL.com. I don't know how accurate that actually is or was, but I can see one more signing possibly before this thing is through. Our own (Bell) or others (McNeill).
  6. Man, the thing for me is health and lot's of it. I never want to hear a word of I.R., for the entire season. With health comes wins, and with the wins comes the accolades!! GO BILLS!!!!
  7. The Bills must play to the strengths of this draft and that is anchored by DT's and CB's defensively, and WR's on the offensive side of the ball. I'd say a player who would merit strong consideration in round one is Fletcher Cox out of Mississippi State, a load at DT. The second round should be CB help like Dwight Bentley or Alfonzo Dennard. The third could be a WR, as a group of them are slated to go there. Deep positional picks will help insure that good players fill out what could shape up as a fairly deep roster in July's camp!! GO BILLS!!!!
  8. I think David DeCastro is the BPA at 10, although I also think that Fletcher Cox is a beast DT out of the SEC, and would likely (IMO) be a ProBowler at some juncture of his NFL career. To me, they are 1 and 1A!!
  9. I had a number in mind and it is....51! I think teams game plan for Super Mario, but Marcell Dareus garners Pro Bowl honors too (with Super) and he finishes with 12.5 on the season from his DT position!! Now, he will be a Suh sized problem for any team to deal with. Coming out parties are soooo much fun!!! \Note: Mario Williams will have 16 sacks.
  10. Besides, free agency is one of the "crowning jewels" of the offseason, and they won't foul their own nest with half-truths and inuendo! There is far too much at stake for the league. The nasty truth will remain covered to keep up appearances.
  11. JustAtlanta... hmmm? Sounds to me like a befuddled Falcons fan who can't quite come to grips with the harsh reality that his beloved Falcons have to fall back on John Abraham yet again! If this was reversed (Abraham to Buffalo, Mario to Falcons), you wouldn't have had the "pleasure" of this guys' company whatsoever. So I think that SOUR GRAPES are really causing this poor kid massive heartburn! Tough league to win in, I guess Julio just wasn't enough! HA!!!!!
  12. Every team in the league will signal their intentions as far back as the East-West Shrine game, Senior Bowl and then the Combine!! The agents are as thick as thieves at the all-star contests, and words get exchanged, bet on it. The NFL would be up to their collective a$$es if they investigated all of that nonsense!
  13. Burfict is the new "poster boy" for not showing up in shape and being unprepared for the most important interview of your life ($$$$), the shear stupidity alone mandates pulling him off of boards, IMO. He may NOT get drafted! Personally, that may be just the tonic he is in need of, wake up son!
  14. New Era, Mayock made one comment on Branch and that was the notion that Andre Branch couldn't "set the edge" as a 4-3 DE. That was about it for analysis about the possibilities of him playing that position.
  15. Mike Mayock's statement on the DL's.... I love the DT's and HATE the DE's, that says it all about our position of need. Oh, and this gem, off of tape study, he wouldn't draft Quintin Coples in the first, second, or third rounds! OUCH!!!
  16. Ah ****, Todd, it's just fun!! I do think many fans have a "talent" to percieve a player when they see him. They may have coached football at some point, or have been watching games for decades now, like me, and probably feel that any information is good information, so they can "play along" with the NFL heirarchy and handicap the game within a game! Heck, mock drafts from a million and one draft sites are common now, and I once was told that a stadium could probably hold all the really serious draftniks (70,000 seats or so) that buy the material and hang on the words of Mike Mayock and Mel Kiper, Jr. every winter and spring month heading towards the day. Everyone here thinks of the draft as Christmas in April, so enjoy it for what it's worth, a fans "GM for a moment" rush, and utter disappointment when Maybin goes just a little before Orakpo and YOU KNEW it was the wrong selection!?!? Note: I have flown from Phoenix to New York City to attend the draft at Radio City Music Hall, and I had a blast! It was a zoo I was meant to check into......
  17. One thing Dontari Poe could have done for Buffalo is propel himself into a top 10 position, and that benefits the Buffalo Bills by having another blue chip player fall to them on the 26th of April. Usually, the NFL decision makers are well aware of the "outstanding measurables" of a player such as Poe, and remember, he only registered ONE sack all year, so let's NOT annoint him as Mean Joe Greene just yet! Pro days and other private workouts are sure to "push" players up or down in this years selection "grab bag".
  18. The trade down possibilities exist people! Trent Richardson is the first consideration, because he could fall to #10. Additionally, this slot is the last one for a OLT like Reiff, Martin or Adams. I have been thinking that the Bengals with numbers 17 and 21 would be a good partner, as they would probably covet Trent Richardson, and the trade chart says that Buffalo's 1st and 2nd gets the deal done. The Cardinals are also a likely trade partner for one of the tackles.
  19. I'm starting to think that taking a guy like David DeCastro OG, Stanford would be awfully smart, and it would probably supplement what the Bills do in free agency. The thing to do is to utilize the 4th and 5th round picks to our advantage. I could see the Bills moving up into the last one-third of round one for their pass rushing need by taking Mercilus or Perry or Branch. This strategy works by building extremely strong OL and DL's, that everyone knows kick starts every other unit on the team. Trenches, people, trenches!! With that said, here's my mock, in full 10.) David DeCastro, ORG, Stanford ( no depth chart in the draft room, strictly BPA!) 24.) Andre Branch, DE, Clemson ( 2nd and 3rd rounders to Pittsburgh in this move ) 106.) Kennan Robinson, OLB, Texas 125.) Jamell Fleming, CB, Oklahoma 140.) Omar Bolden, CB, Arizona State 141.) Donte Paige-Moss, DE, North Carolina 175.) Tank Carder, OLB, Texas Christian 215.) Chandler Harnish, QB, Northern Illinois 245.) Marc Tyler, RB, Southern California 255.) Marquis Maze, WR, Alabama This draft takes into consideration that last year there were rewarded comp picks as such: one at the end of round 3 two at the end of round 4 two at the end of round 5 six at the end of round 6 twenty-one at the end of round 7. I am thinking that Buffalo gets two late round supplemental picks for Poz and Whitner!
  20. Please tell me 1billsfan, that you are NOT arguing the success Freeney and Mathis have had strictly on the point they got "thown over" because of their "less than ideal" size?!?! To me, as a football fan, the sack is one of the impact plays in ANY game, especially when they are strung together, say like the Bills against Washington (10)!! The Super Bowl story line was about the NYG defensive front and the impending pressures Brady would have to endure to mount a NE victory, but as a fan, I don't care if my line consists of Tuck and JPP or Freeney and Mathis, the objective is gained either way. Maybe for you, the Bills should trade for one of the NYG lineman, namely Osi Umenyiora, who by the way is all of 6' 3" and 261 lbs soaking wet....I guess ultimately I'm NOT going to change your opinion, however, you could be persuaded to allow for mine.
  21. Does anyone here realize that Dwight Freeney is 6'1" and 268 lbs. and Robert Mathis is 6' 2" and 245 lbs. The philosophy that dictates that every player is belonging to some cookie cutter pattern is DEAD WRONG!! Football player is the only measure here and Courtney Upshaw brings it! The mere thought of him lining up next to Marcell Dareus (again) and Kyle Williams gives me reason to think his rookie year could be Pro Bowl worthy under optimum conditions. By the way, let's NOT forget that this team we root for needs TWO top quality pass rushers not just one. If they do add a Mario Williams or Cliff Avril, as examples, the D'line goes from a relative weakness to a certain strength over night! Each of us has a favorite choice, and that's normal, but don't get messmerized by measurables over the proposition that they might actually be great football players.
  22. One DE I'd say can play and his signing weakens a division rival is Kendall Langford. His career trajectory has been good overall, and he is in his prime, at this point, so he could be a nice addition. Something tells me that this offseason IS going to be different than a number of others stacked up for 12 years, and the Bills will make a serious play for a top notch free agent DE and WR. If they did this, that would practically be enough, in my book, to push them into a contending position in the fall. The naysayers will obviously have a point until something of this magnitude does break our way, but I personally have a good feeling about the future under Buddy Nix, so fire away gang!!
  23. The Giants had two, yes count them, two sacks! The THREAT of sacks by that Giants front was enough to wear down the New England OL over the course of the game, IMO. If the Bills use this blueprint, it will validate the notion that for two Super Bowls, the Giants had superior pass rushers, and unleashed them to hound Brady and Co. and THAT is the modus operandi to defeat them next year and several years running after that! If you come with a superior rush and squat on Brady's short passing game, the odds change strongly in the Bills quest to beat this guy, and other teams are after EXACTLY the same objective. I would be ALL IN with a defensive draft from top to bottom, because it would make it very likely that there are more HITS than misses when unveiling this plan of attack. Count me in.... Note: I don't let Courtney Upshaw slide by because he's the most NFL ready defensive player in this draft, Bar none! Additionally, Cordarro Law is one of my favorites in April, and if he lands in Buffalo, he'll make a mark as a rookie in 2012, bank on it.
  24. If Crick is drafted in Buffalo, he'll do most of us a huge favor, by having the LDE spot all to himself and that way Kelsay can be cut! By the way, Crick would look fine in the 4-3 scheme, and our #1 last year, Dareus, is the Suh type player he would thrive off of in the future. Imagine a line of Mario Williams, Kyle Williams, Marcell Dareus, and Jared Crick! WOW!! Incidently, last year J.J. Watt was exactly the type of player Crick could be compared to, and Watt help launch Houston to the #2 ranking defensively in the N.F.L., so I'd take that kind of player any day!!
