  1.

I love fans who think they understand the NFL better than Bill Polian. They insight and depth of analysis they bring to the table is always precious.

Polian has not been the GM of the bills for a long long time

    meanwhile

Doug Whaley has been the "boots on the ground" that has rebiult this roster (which is loaded with talent now)

I think I will take Whaley's judgement over Polians at this stage

And why are people acting like he did NOTHING to fix these things....

OL HAS BEEN ADDRESSED.....the problem is the draft picks didnt pan out....lets face it....who know that Kujo was going to be SO ineffective in his rookie season...there is NOBODY here that thought that

And QB.....WHAT GOOD DOES IT DO TO DRAFT A QB IN A WEAK DRAFT THAT IS NO BETTER THEN WHAT YOU HAVE ON THE ROSTER.....or even worse....might not even be AS GOOD as what you have on the roster

Whaley played that perfectly...he knew the team wasnt picking top 5........so he brought in 2 veteran qbs because he knew it was a weak draft.

  2. Its gonna be funny when O'leary comes in and tears it up from Day 1 (I knew this was a good player....really dont understand how he fell in the draft like that)

We go out and get Clay which was absolutely the right thing to do......then O'Leary probably is so good HE could have been our number 1

I wonder what Roman thinks of all this....he has been given all this talent......along with that talent comes expectations.

  3. This is the thing

We are talking about the 4/5 wide receivers now

We just brought in a top 100 player in TE clay and we just drafted the Mackey award (and several times runner up) TE in O'Leary

There is going to be even LESS plays for that 4th/5th wide receiver.......so they whoever stays needs to be able to play very good ST's

  4. cb and OL are always the thinnest groups on each NFL team. We are still working on the ol ;) but at least we aren't throwing justin Rogers out there or combing the waiver wire if one of our CBs go down. Lots of teams are forced to do this every season and it really affects the kinds of schemes they are able to run and whether they can blitz. This happened to Rex last year. My guess is he will not let it happen again.

I thought it was a huge reason for taking him....I mean lets face it Fisher (OT) was ON THE BOARD.......at the time I was really upset we didnt take him because I think he is a player......

but then u step back and try to look at it through the teams eyes....

We have brought in a christmas list of offensive talent....but at the end of the day the identity of this team will be about playing dominant defense......creating turnovers....given field position and the ball back to the offense......

Rex had his D fall apart and become extremely limited because they didnt have the corners they needed with the jets. I think we probably should have all seen this pick coming (I didnt)

:o They aren't kidding when they say the economy is in turmoil. In five minutes Paul Allen went from 100x richer than Pegula to only 5x richer!

BTW, what happened to the hawks offering Russell Wilson a fully guaranteed contract? Wasn't there a lot of chatter about that immediately following the Super Bowl?

    I know right......inflation jesus

Pretty much, the Seahawks success came from Wilson managing the games for 3 quarters allowing the great defense and ground attack to do most of the work and sprinkling in a few decent plays with his arm. Wilson also was a very clutch player in the 4th quarter which helped them win games.

But Wilson was very mediocre at times esp early in games. He isn't a dynamic QB but rather a above average QB with a great team around him. However if you pay him a cap number close to 20 million then you are going to severely limit how good the team can be around him. It's going to be similar to how the Raven's were with Flacco, going from championship contention to a little above the middle of the pack, having to let go of good players or being unable to retain certain players due to cap concerns caused by having such a huge contract on the books.

What is interesting is this is exactly the model that the bills are trying to emulate......yet there are fans that dont want it.

It was successful for the hawks.

  6. Which one of these fighters did your son play high school football with?

    Very funny.....very funny

I wonder if Floyd sticks to his counter punch stick and run style when taking on a chick? Something tells me he does. He's very committed to that style. At least we know that he won't knock out a girl just out point her.

Does anyone get visions of Mayweather and Rhonda Rousey dukin it out?

I know it would never happen but

  7. Short answer: based on what he did with Kaepernick, yes.

Longer answer: Assuming that EJ or TT win the starting job, I really see us in good position to run a lot of Pistol. That formation base set runs as such:

-3 WR or 2 WR & 1 TE (Sammy, Woods, Harvin and Clay)

-Feature RB (Shady primarily, but spelled by presumably Freddy, Dixon and Karlos)

-A backfield HB, who can be used as a blocker and backfield receiver option (Clay, Felton and probably Freddy)

He probably has something for Cassel, but that would give a lot of combinations with read option, lead blocker running, jet sweeps from Harvin, screens to Shady and Clay, putting Clay in motion as a 4th recover and breaking out in 5 wide to spice things up.

And on the flipside of that

If we are going against a opponent who is not good against the run.....I could see us running 2 TE formations with Clay and O'Leary.......who can both block and catch.......a FB and Shady......

    Power Power Power

That really is the beauty of the thing.....tough for a opposing team to prepare for through the week.

  8. I liked hearing that he was the least tested CB in CFB last year. They don't avoid throwing at you because you suck, and that explains the lack of INTs (although he'll be taught to turn his head around and look for them). I've also heard some people say he's like Antoine Winfield with his tacking and PFF said he only missed 2 tackles last year. If he and Gilmore can approach what Revis and Cro did with the Jets...

IMO I dont think he approaches Winfield in his tackling at all.....Winfield will plant you in the turf where it looks like Darby is a willing tackler who will "ankle bite" you into the ground....this is not necessarily a bad thing as aggressive corner tacklers also get injured more...

McKelvin had this same problem and our corners coach helped him work through it.......what I do see from Darby is that great closing speed and the ability to stay in the hip pocket of a receiver.

He is gonna get tested in the NFL because QBs dont want to throw at Gilmore too much.......

  9. All I need to know about Matt Cassel is contained right here. He is my new hero.

You dont know how many times I have wanted to do that when I see someone texting in a meeting

After reading that Cassell is such a enigma to me......

I try to look for reasons WHY players do well......or dont do well......and I just cannot get a read on Cassel at all
