  1. Thanks John!! I'd love to have the guy because I think that he can play. If I were advising him Buffalo would be pretty high on the list. He has to go somewhere and look good.

As good as Dallas' line is (and I think they are the best) their rushing numbers should drop some this year without Murray. I suspect that the OL will shoulder some of the blame and people with think that they have regressed. This may or not be the case but if he is the new starter on that line some fingers will be pointed in his direction.

The flip side is the Bills ran the ball horribly last year. Part of that was the line play, part was the backs and a lot was the miserable scheme. If he were inserted here as one of the new starters and the rushing numbers jumped significantly (which I expect) he will be looked at as a catalyst for that. It should be interesting.

    Kirby,

Yeah that was what I was trying to say.....you explained it better....:)

  2. If we are talking about his next contract (which is really what he is concerned with) I would want to be in a situation that maximizes that. Whatever the easy road is would seem to make the most sense from his standpoint. He wants to go somewhere and look great. That is really his main concern for the next few years.

    Kirby,

as usual what you are saying makes sense.....

At this point I could take him or leave him.....I am just fine with Glenn and Henderson.....and think John Miller is a day one starter for us

  3. weird a rookie might like the prospect of being between two probowlers to learn his craft, instead of two guys that may struggle with basic stunts.

as he hasnt gotten into trouble before this, and hasnt gotten into trouble with this, i likewise wouldnt think having a few guys that know him and would be positive advocates for him wouldnt be a terrible thing. BFD if he uses friendship as a tie breaker between several equal offers.

there are undertones in your line of thought that hed be best off to go to a bad line with people he doesnt like if he really wants to succeed.

More like go to a up and coming line and be the reason why it was great.......

Once again...its a character thing for me....taking the easy road vs taking the more difficult one

  4. It seems we as Bills fans, really as sports fans in general, tend to rag on someone giving us a low grade, but love the high ones. Will anybody here be honest and disagree if someone were to rank us too high. If someone from ESPN or NFL Network were to come out and say the Bills are a top 3 team, would anybody call them out and say that's too high?

To be perfectly honest I cover the grade as I read the explanation of the grade...then look at the grade

Some of these guys really give themselves away in their narrative that they know absolutely NOTHING about the team itself when making their evalutation.....

    for instance

"Should have taken a quarterback so they get a lower grade.....but hey John Miller is a beast......O'Leary won the Mackey award.....and the 7th round WR might be a steal"

    ok so

We are getting marked down for not taking a QB in a weak QB draft when we didnt have a 1st round pick after we brought in 2 veteran Quarterbacks and the 3rd best QB available is probably no better the EJ Manuel

This is why we are receiving a C minus grade despite the postiive comments over only 6 picks?

I cant take an evaluation like that seriously

  5. That's a pretty big assumption....Are the Bills the only team in the league that can offer him a chance to start?

Well...would it be fair to say that his chances are much better here then Dallas?

there are plenty of spots he might start out of the gate. hence the first round grade, and money isnt an issue for any of the teams. to frame it as hes awesome if he picks buffalo and a flake if he goes elsewhere is silly.

maybe he doesnt want to be next to incognito, wants friends as a support system, or if he chooses dallas really likes the idea of being a part of a GREAT line instead of a piece of a project. those arent negative qualities unless you are simply trying to set up a with us or against us attitude.

Saint....yes I consider those not so great qualities

    - wants friends as a support system......yes this usually turns out well....its more like he gets into trouble with his friends

    - Wants to be part of a great line...meaning he doesnt want to be the reason FOR a great O line

  6. He did. Very good year. Hasn't done much else, especially recently.

    C. you really need to lay off the fanboy stuff with EJ Manuel...:)

It is causing you to deflect negivity to other players......

The most veteran guy on this team is Matt Cassel......for all we know at this point Tyrod Taylor could win the job........but your posts man

  7. I think which way he goes will say a lot about him......

    - In Buffalo he would have a legit chance at starting and a legit chance at playing OT

    - Money is not an issue due to the situation but even with it was we have El Pegula

    - We have one of the better OL coaches and a proven OC on our team

If he DOES not come here it means he doesnt want the pressure of possibly starting soon or he wants to hang out with his friends......which is fine it is his choice....but he wont be a player I would want on this team

  8. D had better be a stone frickin' wall this year... 'Cuz it was pretty dang good lat year with our current corners/safeties... With a glut of chitty QB's on te roster, I KNOW wouldn't have let Maxx Williams fall to the Ravens @ 55... i think it was a terrible mistake... Then again, I'm not a fan of taking corners high anyway... Gilmore was a 1st, and he's really helped our bottom line, has'nt he?

Nothing against Darby (even though he has a tendency for faceguarding) I would never have taken him at 50. -No way. I would have MUCH rather move the chains with my stud TE... JMO

You have a stud TE......his name is Clay.....followed closely by another stud TE.....his name is O'Leary

And if one of these corners misses time you will thank the stars that Whaley was smart enough to take Darby.

And yes....GIlmore was a huge get

  9.

Sure, he was decent in that game...A game in which they were thoroughly destroyed, and one of Cook's only "bad" performances (he still had over 100 yards, 6.9 YPC), since he took over the starting role. I don't think there was much doubt that Cook was the better RB. He also was just a freshman.

Karlos Williams certainly had his moments, and has some very good physical qualities. He would break the occasional big play. But he struggled to consistently find running lanes. He was hard to stop when he actually did. For a big guy he was a relatively easy to knock down around the LOS, he was good at powering for a yard when he knew he needed it though.

I like the pick, and there are probably a lot of good things he can do for the Bills as a STer and situational back (Goal line, short yardage, 3rd down). I'm not sure he has the vision to be a feature back though, not that the Bills need one. It's a good pick up at that point in the draft.

The big thing for me is that he is a converted safety....which means he really hasnt had a lot of time in the position

I think that is what could make him a gem......he has excellent hands.....runs like Antwain Smith.......and might actuallly have a higher ceiling then what we have seen so far.

I dont want to cut Fred Jackson for him or anything......but I feel it was a good value pick for sure.

  10. I watched every game that Williams played in. He was always hyped, but never really developed into what people were hoping for (hence the 5th round pick). I don't think it's necessarily guaranteed that he even makes the team, and could be a PS guy.

If he does, I'd say the cut is between Brown and FJ. FJ by far being the easiest guy to cut.

I still wonder if they maybe they would consider him at S again. He's got prototypical size/speed, and was highly recruited at that position out of college.

At the very least he should be a good ST player.

I thought he looked pretty darn good against Oregon in the rose bowl to be honest.......

It was the younger rb that was making all the mistakes for their team.....the 2 turnovers were killer

  11. Sheppard may be there to tell him that Buffalo sucks as a place to live.

To me this would be a bad ploy

Unless Collins is a complete mental midget he would see that the trade netted Buffalo one of the best pass rushers in the league for peanuts......and that DE just had the brinks truck backed up (Terry was driving/Kim was riding shotgun)

This is not the same bills team......they might be operating in Siberia (just kidding...:) but they are opperating like a big market team.

  12. He is probably just connecting the Tannebaum dots. Miami is probably the favorite for that reason and they may already have some type of handshake in place. With that being said the "unsanctioned" aspect is interesting. The Bills circumvented his agents who, one would think, have a vested interest in him going to Miami. If Collins and his family like the Bills it may not matter.

Regardless of what happens you just have to love the new aggressive bills......
