I actually think that Rodak takes his job seriously and wants to be a good beat writer. He is a young guy and was assigned a less glamorous team. That is kind of a starting point for him. it is in his best interest to do a good job, generate clicks and to break a few stories. That is how he will move up the food chain. So far he is good at generating clicks but hasn't figured out the rest of them. He needs to generate clicks without alienating the fan base. The best way to do that is to be the 1st to report things like the ownership transfer, the McCoy trade, etc...
Kirby,
I appreciate your glass is half full take on Rodak
I think his articles are douechy and maybe the plan is to do that to generate clicks......looking taking a abrasive side to ever issue.....finding the potential negative out of every positive......that is what I see from this nerd

What should really be concerning is the amount of interceptions this guy throws
I have a feeling this kid is gonna bust

It's almost like Henderson last year. Could've been a totally thrown away pick that was foreseeable trouble but getting a first round talent had them roll the dice. I just don't think the downside was that low. Don't offer a contract til he's cleared - and if he's not cleared you never sign him. If he never signs due to finances, so be it.
I'd be really curious if it was a situation where everyone thought the others were passing because the other security teams found something their own didn't, if there was a nudge from the nfl, or (I think less likely) the risk was just too high due to him saying he wouldn't sign.
I say we just wish him luck with Dallas and move on with our team
Being a late 1st round pick offensive linemen isnt exactly a guarantee of success anyway.....
-
Im just very concerned about the OLine. We were awful last year at running the ball and the parts haven't changed. Glenn needs to regain 2013 form, same with Wood. We are going to be very dependent upon either Henderson or Kouandjio making a HUGE leap from last year.
Talls,
They have to prove it.....but the fact is that Roman is a genious at running the ball........he can run several different running plays out of the same formation....one of the special teams about him as a OC actually.....
I am not worried accept for depth....injuries happen over a season.

what is factually incorrect?all you guys spout off without any facts actually. your response is the same. you act like you are above everything in fact you are not. you tell me that you dont have the time to educate me but you have the time to reply with this nonsense of a post.
you guys must be the idiot callers on the weiner line and calling on WGR all the time. makes sense now
Your really pouty
Do u need a hug?
For the "can't take him in the 7th" crowd....can I ask how it would be a riskier pick than a mike jasper, or other late upside picks?
I'm down for swinging for the fences and seeing what happens with picks around 250. And with a guy that has fewer question marks on the field, and by that point dwindling ones off the field..... Let's do it!
I still suspect there was a nudge somewhere from the nfl to kindly encourage teams to wait this out.
Saint...in all honest to me it depends on the pick
I would have done it with the LB pick because he is a injury concern (now watch him go and be a beast for us but)
and
I would have done it with the last pick we had that we used on the big WR (I actually WOULD have done it here......we are so stacked at WR)
but I totally undertand why they did not
-
I believe that this offense is set up to be able to change week to week to match the opponents weaknesses......

@LaurenBrill4: Source: Bills were very interested in La'el Collins. Collins loved Rex. Collins wanted to be in the South and uncertainty at QB was an issue
Hate to point this out Collins but
Your QB is not the poster boy for health in recent years
-
I guess what I'm saying is that I do believe that the Bills, and the 31 other teams in the league made a mistake (although I do believe that there is a chance that Goodell told the teams that they couldn't draft the kid until the situation was resolved, to save himself a PR nightmare).
I understand the argument for Miller as safer, but even without the hindsight, I was still clamoring for us to take this guy, who has tremendous upside: http://forums.twobillsdrive.com/topic/177976-if-lael-collins-drops-do-bills-take-him/?p=3542081
With hindsight would you have drafted him?
I just get the feeling that this was a huge missed opportunity for us. We had the chance to get an immensely talented football player at a position of need.
In all honesty....I dont know
I think in hindsight it would depend on the pick.....I reallly like the Corner, OG and TE that we drafted
If it was with one of the other picks yes because I consider those "throw away" picks......all of the above guys I think are either going to be immediate or eventual starters and contributers on this team
Now....having said that....I think OT is a HUGE need on this team unless Cyrus K. pulls his head out and plays to the level at which he was drafted....HE is the reason why everything is out of whack for this team because if he was playing like a 2nd round pick then we dont even HAVE a weakness at OT
but that remains to be seen.
On Collins.....he has not been cleared yet....I suspect he will.......but what if they guy is just bad news all the way around....trouble has a way of following a man sometimes.

I dont get how my post gets ridiculed. Yes you can have a difference of opinion but i thought it was a terrible move and i explained why i thought it was terrible.
I would love to have a serious convo about it vs the other side if you presented an argument with thoughts back but instead post counts matter and the theory that if 31 other teams didnt do it, must mean something.
I thought 100% at least buffalo fans would have learned that intelligent nfl management is few. Lets list....chan gailey, wandstedt, marrone situation...losman, edwards etc....jets bringing in tebow for a circus....aaron maybin...i could go on forever.
Its just like chip kellys offense wont work bc no one has done it before...all these genuises would have tried and then after 1 game..omg best offense ever etc...and ends up somewhere in the middle.
I believe i said buy back into the 7th round for a chance at 1st rd talent...it doesnt cost much...you still get oleary who wasnt a 7th to begin with.
What is the risk? Is the risk worse than incognito from a fan relations standpoint?
So if fan relations doesnt matter and cost is very low. What is the risk of going to get him in the 7th round? Seems like him not signing so worst case u lose a 7th rd pick and maybe 50k?
Contact issues can easily be dealt with..i use shady as an example bc the bills traded for him without the guarantee of him holding out since we learned he was unhappy at time of trade and he changed tune pretty quick.
So collins said he wants to hold out? Ok collons here is a contract for 2 million a yr for next 3 years....collins will grab that pen in a heartbeat and we may get a starting tackle at 2 mill.
The cowboys now may have a starting olineman for 1.6 over 3 years which is insane...allows them to spened money elsewhere etc
So you are presuming to know what Collins was going to do.....and ignoring what we were all being told
Good luck with that
-
Makes for a pretty darn athletic TE set......all with guys that can block and catch
Clay
O'Leary
Grey
-
At least we have our 1st round pick......so if they want to trade up for QB we are in the same round
-
so... draft him in the third round. still good value.
John,
NOBODY took this guy in the 3rd....or the 4th
Or the 5th
or the 6th
or the 7th
If we made the mistake of not taking the kid in the 3rd round....everyone made it.
Personally without the hindsite which we did not have....I would have taken John Miller as well......
-
I just have the feeling that there is enough potential in the players already on the team to make a decent to much better than decent O-line with the proper coaching, schemes, and play calling. Remember, essentially these same guys performed much better two and three years ago than then did last year, and they have drafted four o-linemen in the last two drafts in addition to picking up some free agents. I think it's too soon to conclude that all of these guys just can't play.
I agree....
Just consider this
We are one bad thing happening away from Kujo starting at one of the OT positions.......
And I really dont know how to feel about that.....REALLY hope he gets it to gether this season
-
Lots of people don't do what they said they were going to do. Or change their mind. I thought his post was well written and made good points. Why would you bash some for having ten posts that enjoys being here especially when it was well thought out and made sense. I think it is great when people contribute instead of attacking each other. Seriously, John from Hemet that was not very nice and useless. So, you have 17 000 posts? Why do you keep writing and reading if you get so angry?
Im not angry...he was (and your right...I should not have picked on his 9 posts at the time....)
And we can only go by the information that is given us.....if you choose to say that the talking heads on the TV say he will go back into the draft and not believe it.......then nobody can stop you
Just consider this....we got REALLY good value on those picks we took later in the draft.......what if Collins did exactly what he said he was going to do and we missed out on TE O'Leary?
What would suck....cuz that kid has skills
-
I believe Byrd missed rookie camp because he was finishing up at school.
and the trend got set from there with him..........doom
-
Could that have been a bluff? I thought an UDFA could be offered the same contract as a 4th rounder? Did he slip things by the GMs? Because after he went undrafted I thought he was NOT allowed to reenter the draft? If we drafted him in the 7th (or anyone) couldn't they have offered him the same deal as the Cowboys just signed him to?
Does someone know all the details of the options because I would love to understand the situation. As I was watching the draft vs what has unfolded I have two different opinions of Collins and the teams options?
During the draft I thought he said he wouldn't sign because it would cost him millions, but, then he signed for much less than a 1st or 2nd round draft pick?
Manther,
In the end I dont think we will get all the answers.....the only things we know for certain
Rex Ryan went all the way down to where he was at to have dinner with him.......so the attempt was made.
and
He chose to sign with the cowboys
He is dead to me now......and I choose to concentrate on what we have......which is John Miller
-
I wouldnt be looking at OG now at all to be honest.......
To me the OG's are Cog and John Miller....backed up by Urbik who can play all 3 interior O line positions......I am not sure what they do with Chris Williams
It is OT that we need to look at......perhaps Barksdale?
-
I wanted him.....but only because if he turns out to be a sick basturd he would just be getting undrafted free agent money......
-
whoops then we shouldn't sign him. Obviously you have never negotiated anything. Collins or his agent are not talking from a position of power when a team drafts them. What is Collins gonna do during his holdout? Work at Walmart? He isn't get an endorsement deal anytime soon and maybe his agent will want to front him some money and is he really going in the first round in 2016? If that was the case, why did he sign for ONLY 1.6 mill over 3 years???? he could just sitout a whole year and get drafted in the 1st round next year and get a better salary. BUT NOPE he decided to sign for a small guaranteed salary.
TRY AGAIN. I know intelligence is tough to come by on the internet and especially in forums. maybe why I only have 10 posts....someone needs to be king of the donkeys and you are it.
Yes this is why all 32 teams passed.....because they were confident he wouldnt go back into the draft.....
I can see why you dont post....you should go back to it so that you dont show your ignorance
-
Let him sit out 1 year. call his bluff. McCoy didnt want to come here and then boom so happy...money talks. He would have been fine and we would have filled a need at an ultra cheap price and cost
LMAO, you are joking right?
we are post counting now?
you count your posts while the rest of the world counts their dollars.
its hard not to look at your posts count.....its so....tiny
And of course......you are ignoring the fact that he said he WOULD GO BACK INTO THE DRAFT
But other then that......carry on
-
This is a terrible terrible move by the Bills Management.
Obviously they had great interest in Collins and we all know OL is a huge need that we only filled with Incognito. So you can't spend a 7th round pick to get him? or buy into the last 4 picks of the 7th round. Pegula isnt cheap and takes risks, i.e Incognito, so buying the 3rd last pick in the draft to get Collins wasn't thought of?
#1 Its poor publicity that your coach runs down to Baton Rouge 3 days after the draft to woo this guy and lose him. So fanbase knows you were interested in a guy that you could have full control of and for cheap 3 days earlier, but choose to get in a free for all with teams that have an advantage over you. i.e locations, coaches familiar with hiim etc.
I dont care if Collins said he wouldn't play for a year if drafted after 3rd round. you take the kid with a 7th and give up 50,000 dollars and call his bluff. Also all he got was 3 years for 1.6 million. I'm sure Bills would be ok paying your starting tackle 1.6 over 3 years.
we overpaid an average to slightly above avg TE/FB but couldn't risk 50K on a guy that could be our starting tackle at 1.6 for 3 years?
It all comes down to risk/reward. The cost curve on this kid was sooo low that you would be an idiot to not spend a 7th on him. considering how many 7th round picks get cut, the cost curve is low. The bills dont care from a fan relations perspective or else they wouldn't sign Incognito if were very tight on that policy etc. Harvin had team issues etc. I understand Collins issues are bigger but again for a 7th round pick cost, its nothing
Terrible job by the Bills. It's also a terrible job by every other suitor including Dolphins
I expect your 10th post to be better
-
Our D line is licken their chops Collins......
-
Who is gonna throw to them? We didnt draft a qb
-
I would never expect a lot of NFL players to be smart. But I would expect all of them to be smart enough to know it's not good to publicly accuse someone of racial discrimination.
Gug......these guys dont follow your set of values......you do realize that?
