  1. I thought he played really well last year right up until he was hurt. I heard some media saying pro bowl but what really impressed me about his play last year was his passion. I can't remember which game it was but one of our opponents were driving for the go ahead score and he started screaming at the defense and they held. It may have been Chicago.

The thing is Darby is in a good position of being able to not be "the guy" in Rex Ryan's defensive back gets put on island defense.........

This is a deep stable of backs....and Darby is gonna be the 3rd or 4th db this year.......we are deeeeep

  2. Kraft is a bigger liar, scumbag and dick than Belichick and Brady combined. I know a few people who did business with him or knew him in NE. He's the biggest phony around.

When I was stationed out in Cape Cod my wife worked for a catering company that did events at his house.......

He does pay well......but my wife said he would drown if it rained (meaning his nose is stuck straight up in the air)

  3. Yup, quick trigger finger from marrone. Give the guy a season to prove he's not better than whatever washed-up vet we bring in. stick with him for once and ride it out is what I say

I dont think it will be that simple this year.....

I think EJ is gonna have to show that he can actually be BETTER then the other QBs to get on the field......

And I am ok with that

  4. How any chances is this guy going to get, we saw his full potential last year, he stinks.

    It's like freakin groundhog day.

Last two years we had the best coaching staff since Levy, it was def. not their fault.

9 wins was a major improvement.

EJ, when he is not injured, can't hit the broadside of a barn.

Let's not sacrifice the year to give the kid one more chance, we already know he doesn't have "it".

    Imo

    Leroi,

    Nobody is gonna do that.....

In order for EJ to take that spot he is gonna need to be better then the other QBs in a open competition.

  5.

Injured twice, never played more than five consecutive games.

And that honestly might have killed EJ's career so far more then anything.......

I know that some people will disagree....but I thought EJ was really turning the corner in that Cleveland game.....then....it all started to fall apart

  6.

    Exactly how I feel.

How many times have we heard this type of talk in the off season the past 15 years and it meaning absolutely nothing come September?

Glad he's got a chip on his shoulder, now I hope he goes out and proves he deserves to be the starter.

The problem with that is 15 years of sucking gets lumped on what is transpiring in reality the last 2-3 years.

And as fans....its hard not to do that.

We will see pretty soon.....if EJ comes out and starts chucking it and not standing their holding the ball we will know whats up.

People should WANT EJ Manuel to succeed......imagine if we didnt need to use our 1st round pick next year on a QB and could just go BPA

  7. Thanks for posting. Although I've always been a zone scheme, I think Doug and Rex hve done a nice job acquiring talent to run the power. Felton, Clay, O'Leary and others are guys who can be that trap man. I hope Wood can play in this scheme, or at least better than he did last year. Henderson wi benefit from this IMO as he will be required to take less scooping blocks and focus solely on driving them man in front of him into the neighbors yard. Yolo is right, this offense is going to look 100 times different.

It also makes a lot of sense why they let CJ walk. This scheme requires grey vision as the holes develop. It isn't always run to daylight. I'll be interested to see how McCoy adapts.

Actually......I think this fits Shady perfectly as well. His vision has always been considered as one of his best assets.

Can't see Marone or Hackett trying anything even remotely like that. I honestly think Marone thought he was doing the team a favor trying to teach OLmen the same way he was. Those schemes that Roman used are not really anything new but what they are is a matchup problem for defenses. Marone was determined to play a game that may have worked when he was a player but is now too easy to defend.

I always liked creative blocking schemes. I remember the days of a bruising FB crashing down on a DLine hearing that unforgettable sound just before a RB slipped through and took one to the house. Today the FB/RB combo isn't used as much. HBs are now used because they are more versatile. What Roman was successful with is using a combination of different players..... HB/FB/TE/OLman. The point is, he is capitalizing on different matchups. Going to be an interesting year for sure. Successful blocking can improve the run and the pass....provide our offense with a nice balanced attack.

    Bully

  8.

I think it's pretty obvious they view him as a perfect scheme fit and had him higher than a lot of the "experts" who aren't being paid to make decisions for teams.

What is interesting is all the folks that disliked our draft dont understand that nearly every pick was a "Scheme fit"

Darby.....press cover corner......in your shorts all day.......a perfect Rex Ryan type DB

Miller.....power phone booth bowling ball OG with some pull ability and a nasty attitude

Karlos Williams......great ST player......powerful long stride runner

O'Leary.....HB player, Mackey award winnger (and several times runner up).......scheme fit in Romans offense

The rest of the guys I dont know about....but if the bills hit on THESE players.....oh boy

  9. Only in Buffalo do people see the change to Rex Ryan as a massive upgrade. The rest of the NFL followers see the Bills replacing Marrone with a coach Marrone beat twice last year, a coach who has never developed a QB, a coach who has never developed a very good NFL offense, and a coach who hasn't been playoff relevent since EJ Manuel was in high school.

Once the rose colored "we have just replaced kay stephenson with Vince Lombardi" glasses are removed, the rest of the analysis tracks the QB situation.

In the last several years only 2 or 3 QBs total with regular season passer ratings in the bottom 10 have made the playoffs. The Bills appear to be in that position. The national media isn't personally biased towards the Bills. No national media prognosticator improves their stature by being wrong. They have every incentive to get it right, they are far more objective than the fans of teams are.

If you are struggling to see how the media looks at it, it is most likely because you can't get past your fan bias.

Only the full blown shortbus fans see it this way.....

  10. I think he is a close to spot on as one can guess. I like when he says it is one of the most talented teams on both side of the ball. AND, half the people on this board say Whaley should be fired or he does not cut it. Whaley has been solid and I am confident he will only get better at his job and I think he has done extremely well so far!

Whaley has done a crackerjack of a job.....dont understand the hate either
