  1. I love the positive attitude but most likely, you are fooling yourself. This is like last year when folks started talking about a contract extension with Orton. After 10 years in the league, you are what you are. Cassel has had 2 seasons where he wasn't a bad starting qb, the last one 5 years ago.

He is what he is. If he's your backup, you are in great shape. If he's your starter you are limited. He is capable of a good start but he will follow it up with 4 ints like he did last year against the Pats.

Pray for one of the youg guys to step up because this will be exactly like last year with Orton.

Ah but here is the rub

IF it is like last year with Orton.....is Orton that bad if we can actually run the ball?

There are some things that are getting left out of these QB conversations......Does Orton start going into a shell like he did if he is being given a legit chance to work of play action because our running game is dependable.....if our O line is halfway stout does Orton start going to that crab like defense and start giving up on plays?

    If the answer is

Yes......the running game will be improved

Yes....the offense line will actually be able to pick up a stunt

Then maybe a game manager is all you need?

  2. James. I'm more of a senior member because of my age but I dont post often. But I see you are a Jet's fan so I think you are the kind of guy I used to deal with at lunch or recess during grammar school. Their was always a kid that butted into my business and I had to fix the problem. Don't make me fix this. I dont have the time or patients for you. Go Bills.

    H

    Shots fired!

  3.

There is no way to know that he wouldn't. You guys are just drinking the koolaid, if we had gotten some other back you would think he was the greatest. If we hadn't traded kiko away I doubt most people would be falling all over themselves to get rid of him. RBs are easy to find and trading for a paying huge money for one is foolish. Shady will have a couple good yrs then we will be looking for a new one.

See it is crap like this that just kills your arguments.....

It is Koolaid to be happy that the bills have one of the best running backs of the league (and still in his prime on age standards) coming to the Buffalo Bills

Yes this is Kool aid......give me more please

  4.

Obviously we traded for McCoy before free agency so there would be no talk of him coming here But if we had waited we could have easily signed him.

    Your right

A opportunity presented itself to the bills (which took about 30 minutes to happen or something like that) to get a TOP THREE RUNNING BACK IN THE NFL.......so they hopped all over it.......

The bills have been very agressive of late.....have a 9-7 season to show for it with the arrow pointing up.

Murray has had ONE season where he has been injury free? Shady has shown Thurman Thomas like durability.

Well, it is a "these aren't your father's Bills staffers" kind of thread.

I asked about if they were actually being paid more. I don't really know. I'd like to see the numbers to compare. I assume that's what your thread is about.

As for the caliber of the staff, most seem to be recently the Jets staff, plus Roman. Maybe they will produce great results, but I bet Jets fans (and some 49ers fans) aren't as impresed with our coaching staff.

If they were impressed they would still be on THEIR teams coaching staffs.......

This is the thing that im my opinion gets overlooked time and time again........

If a coach was doing well (Unless his HC gets canned and a new regime comes in and completely cleans house) then quality coaches very seldom are allowed to leave and move onto some other team to improve that team

I equate it to quality QBs......if a team has a good QB they are not going to let them get away in free agency....they are going to do whatever it takes to keep that QB....same with good coaches

So how does a good coach become available.....simple....the team loses even though they did their jobs well......then you see those coaches assemble some other place in a situation where they are supported by ownership and bam....magically mysteriously the team is better

I TRULY believe that all of this stems to the offensive line and its coaching......if a QB has time to throw the ball then he will look like a better QB......

  6. We had Freddy but spent a first round pick on Lynch. We had Freddy and Lynch but spent a first round pick on Spiller. So we trade a second round pick (who should have been DROY) for a talented back. However McCoy has a lot of miles, an awful lot of miles but we all ignore this in the discussion because it is uncomfortable or something?

We had a great LT in Peters then overpaid for two FA's OL busts and never took care of Peters. So we let Peters and two first round RBs go and get next to nothing in return. Our OL never recovered. Again this year the OL is a big question mark.

The team is selling the Kool Aid that they are all in on this year's third round pick and hope that last year's seventh round pick Henderson or second round pick Kuondijo can come through.

The McCoy trade will be a good move only if the OL is good, If not we are in for another long season. Final evaluation of the trade will depend on how long McCoy lasts. I expect him to be in serious decline in his third year here.

We ignore the miles because it does not appear to be an issue.

I think McCoy's decline will depend on how he is used......and if you can get 3 years out of him platoon him with Karlos Williams by next year then Karlos takes more the load we will be fine.

We are in win now mode.

  7. chandler is not the same type of TE. He is not a good run blocker. He's a pass catcher. A slow one. Who isn't a red zone threat and plays smaller than his size. Chandler is a nice guy and I hope he has a nice career. He's not a difference maker on offense. He's a complementary pass catching TE who doesn't fit this scheme.

    To be perfectly honest.......

If O"Leary turns out to be a younger version of Scott Chandler.......would anyone REALLY be that upset?

We didnt give that huge brinks truck backup to Clay so that he could be here for a couple of years.........We expect Clay to be the number 1 go to tight end for the forseeable future......

I personally dont think O'Leary is Scott Chandler.....the kid is tough and old school. I think he is one of those guys that will make a clutch catch for you....and not fall down from the first hit. I think that his blocking will get BETTER as he continues to work on that aspect of his game.

And......for a 6th round pick.....it was also a pretty good value pick! Who were we gonna pick in the 6th round that has a better chance of being a contributed then the TE who won the Mackey Award?

  8. Sorry. That is correct. Runner up for DROY. He was also PFWA (Pro Football Writer's Assoc.) DROY, which is what I was remembering.

Its ok man....still a great honor from PFWA.

And Kiko was awesome his rookie season.....I thought he wore down a bit (like rookies tend to do) as the season went on.

Im gonna be honest......I really do wish the best for Kiko but those acl injuries are concerning to me.....perhaps its because I have a linebacker in my house who has gone through this so I see the play by play but he has injuried an acl....TWICE.

  9.

Philly isn't concerned about his knee, all this talk is Bills fans trying to justifying the trade in their minds.

We dont HAVE to justify the trade in our minds......the trade is totally justifiable its just not they you wanted....why wont you admit that. Your looking foolish.

    Why wouldn't Murray come here?

There are a multitude of reasons why players would not come to a team........a trade is one way to make SURE you get the player you want on the team.

Also this was a good yr for RBs which was another reason not to trade a top player for an RB which are easy to find anyway.

Of which they were involved in because they took Karlos Williams. We had SIX picks and NEEDS on this team.

We will see if he can run between the tackles.

Why would he NOT be able to run between the tackles....you do realize that Shady has ran out of a power I formation earlier in his career right?

  10.

"Not sure"? -Of course you aren't sure, because you didn't see the Senior Bowl... Let me say this since you obviously don't know... Nick Boyle can block...Really, really, well... He's got soft hands too, but speed isn't his game... Sticking people is his game... My fear is that he'll get even better at it by the next time we play the Ravens.. Very smart pickup by Baltimore..

I can also tell you never saw Maxx Williams in a game either... Talk about athletic! I don't give a damn what some stopwatch at the skivvy-bowl says, -Maxx Williams' instincts, and game-time speed are a rare find in a TE... As I've said before, I like O'leary a whole lot... The kid is a Natural born winner... He's just not enough of an offensive threat to turn the tide IMO.

To turn the tide of WHAT

He isnt even the starting TE for this team come game one........he is the 2nd TE in a 2 TE set.

Look....im not slamming you.....but to me this arguement is just confusing....we just gave a huge contract to a top 100 NFL player to play TE for us.....and we took what looks like a really good gamble on a TE late in the draft (which you like)

To me this really is not a lose situation.

  11. There is zero chance this ever happens, right? (Ugh, that's a dream scenario for me.) Not this year, but within time...I just know the chances of all our young linemen developing into quality NFL starters is not good. But, that would be a lot of fun to watch.

    Henderson - Glenn - Miller - Richardson - Kouandjio

You must not care about keeping Glenn after this year.

  12.

:o If we had Aaron Rodgers or Big Ben, you and I wouldn't even be having this tortured conversation... As of right now our QB is NOBODY.. And even when it was EJ or Kyle we struggled to move the chains...

You think having Murray and Witten on the field didn't free things up a tad for Dez??? And having Leveon Bell, and Martavis Bryant did nothing to help A. Brown's bottom line?... Yah, right.. 6'4" Martavis Bryant's stats were paltry this year.. 26 catches for 549 yards, and 8TD's -No big deal.. But wait... 16 first downs?.. 6 out his 8 TD's grabbed from INSIDE opposing 20??? But the Steelers didn't like that action at all... In fact they HATED it so much they took the biggest TE in the draft (Jesse James PSU 6'7" 262lbs) to NEGATE the effects a big receiver can have in the red zone..

Sadly, The Baltimore Ravens the fell into the same trap... Not only did they snatch standout TE Maxx Williams from under our nose, they doubled down on the position with Blue Hen stud TE Nick Boyle...

Get a clue!....Big Targets....EVERYBODY IS DOING IT.. -Everybody GOOD, that is...

I am quite sure that the bills would like to have a tall wide reciever that can play basketball in the red zone.....but your assertation that this team cannot be good on offense because it does not have one is nothing short of ridiculous simply because it does not have a franchise QB.

The whole franchise QB stick is getting a little old now anyway.....there are only 5 to 6 of them.......and there are 32 teams. Other teams are finding a way to make their offenses work without these things and the bills have put their best foot forward as well.....

Watkins, Woods, Harvin, Clay.........with a strong running back stable......pretty darn good in my opinion
