  1.

I've never heard of this term "glue contract", but it explains why the Bills inexplicably gave Chris Kelsay a 4 year 24m deal early in the 2010 season. I guess Whaley really did learn a few things from Nix, because both have re-signed under-producing players to deals well beyond their team value. BTW, which other NFL GM's are wont to provide "glue contracts" to their veteran players who are good in the locker room?

The things I learn from this board.

    You doubt Doug Whaley? Blasphemy!

Everyone underwhelmed on the OL last year.....

Lets see what happens this year.

  2. I don't believe it, but if he's really beat out, it helps the Bills financial situaition going forward. But then again, your OL has a rookie and two sophomores in the starting 5.

Just a hunch, but I'm not 100% certain he's in the plans going forward. I thought of this before Rex even came aboard, but with him here, I'm even more curious about the team's plans regarding him. Gilmore will be getting the big-time money next offseason, leaving decisions to be made. Some might suggest they cut Leodis, but if he plays well this year, he's staying IMO. Rex will get to keep his CBs. Either way, interesting situation going forward.

I know that all if this is open to debate and none of us know....but I dont see how this is gonna happen......

Matt Darby was drafted for a reason......Stephon G. will be here.....we have Robey and Cochrel

What we dont have a lot of are quality O linemen

  3. I say hi to my neighbors when I see them. Hello, Hi, Waive, Nod, Good morning, etc.

There is a neighbor that smokes a lot. So he goes out to his lawn area to smoke a lot. He lives like 4 homes away. My garage has space for just one car. Wife takes it. I park on the street.

Long story short I always see him there. Between 0-10 TIMES A DAY.

All 10 times I say "HI" or waive.

For example: I need to wash my car. I see him outside smoking. I say Hello. Then he goes back inside at some point.

30 minutes later I come back. Park my car. And boom out he comes out to smoke again and to say hi again. This repeats all day.

    Im freaking busy. He's not.

I'm in a trap. I cant stop saying hi. But too many "hellos" is killing me now.

    Suggestions?

A simple head nod will do

  4. Right, but do you really want a guy on a one-year deal, out of football for a year plus, with an attitude problem, who hasn't played the position in years, to anchor your line?

I know Wood had his limitations last year but I have to believe a good deal of that was scheme and frustration with it, along with the turnstiles surrounding him.

Oh I am not advocating that at all....I think it is more to look at "if Wood goes down what do we do next"

Two players with C experience past wood (which is why I liked the resigning of Urbik.......Urbik and Cog....can both play C and both OG positions

If they move him to guard, that means they don't think he's one of the 2 best tackles on the team. That means they wouldn't want to pay him starting tackle money because he wouldn't be worth it in their opinion. I would be pleasantly surprised, or more likely totally shocked if Kujo and Henderson were good enough to start the season at tackle. But if they were both better than Glenn, good for the team. Glenn could decide whats best for him next year as far as a contract goes, just like every free agent does.

Then the woes of the O line would continue.....

You dont get better on the O line by continuing to revolving door it......

It is my hope that they are looking at everyone at every position to see who is versitile enough for a "plan B"

Not they I am advocating it in any way, but if he is moved to OG due to another player showing that they are a better LT than Glenn is (and that's a very big "if"), then losing him in FA would basically save $10+M in cap dollar for each of the next bunch of years.

Dibs...yeah I get it....its not what I want either.....the team cannot fall apart if we cannot resign Glenn....I just think

    a. We are best served by keeping Glenn and paying him at LT

    b. Moving him to OG would most certainly cause Glenn and his agent to be upset

  5. Where does the fiduciary responsibility lie for this? http://www.syracuse.com/buffalo-bills/index.ssf/2015/06/who_are_the_buffalo_bills_best_and_worst_salary_cap_values_for_2015.html

Even if Wood was worth the $ that is a very high price. I wonder if Jim is "Overdorfing" it a bit.

That is what you call a "team glue" contract

Wood has been a team player through all of it.......great in the locker room......good on the field...solid overall

  6. Hearing from Philly fans I know, Shady has never been the most personable of guys. His nickname comes from his mood, which tends to be melancholic. So, in Philly there was a bit of a **** storm after the Rodak interview which was poorly done by all accounts. Most of Shady's friends and family are still in the area, so I can see why he doesn't want a double dose of Rodak.

Rodak is a worm.....I would understand completely if Shady just refused to talk to him at all.

  7. I never had a problem with McCoy til a week ago. I said he's a bag, which was an overstatement on my part. I don't have a problem with him not wanting to answer questions from the media about the Kelly situation. It's just one small thing I want him to say before he says that he's done talking about it. I want him to say, "I've talked with Chip..." Until he does that, I think he's a bit of a coward. I don't even care if they talk and McCoy calls tells Chip he's a racist again over the phone, I just think he should man up and not avoid the person he just accused.

I am sure u should tweet this to Shady and tell him how you feel.

  8. Expect Glenn to move to OG if Henderson and Kouandjio prove to be worthy OTs. It is GREAT NEWS to hear that the new coaching staff believes enough in both Henderson and Kouandjio to make them the starting LT and RT respectively.

When Glenn was drafted many scouts thought he was best suited to play OG. Both H & K are more athletic than he is.

The bottom line is that our O-line will be greatly improved if we can afford to put Glenn at OG.

The possible starting O-line for the "Ground and Pound" Bills:

    Henderson/Incognito/Wood/Glenn/Kouandjio

    Henderson/Miller/Wood/Glenn/Kouandjio

    Henderson/Incognito/Wood/Miller/Glenn.

I think Kromer is serious about moving Henderson to LT because of his excellent size, reach, and athleticism. Wood will be the OC.

I expect Glenn, Incognito, Miller, Kouandjio to fight for the other three spots. Urbik will be the backup OC (and a backup OG). Richardson and T. Chandler will likely fill spots 8 ad 9 on the O-line.

To me this makes zero sense

    - Glenn has been a worthy LT....last year everyone played horrible.....prior to that Glenn has been considered a gem at LT...WHY CHANGE THAT

    - Who rides the bench in that situation....John Miller....the coaches appear to LOVE John Miller

IMO......the real battle is between Henderson and Kujo at RT.......if Kujo starts playing like was SUPPOSED to then that would unseat Henderson making him the swing OT.

John Miller and Cog should be the guards

  9. Just to clarify my feelings on Orton (and they are very similar to Cassel). I LOVED Orton as a backup. I absolutely hated the idea of him as a starter. Before he started a game, I heard a DEnver sports host say that Orton was good between the 20s and struggled in the red zone. That's exactly what he did last year.

IMO, I think EJ could have been just as productive as Orton and may have improved as the season went on. Again, him and Tannehill had the same exact start to the 2014 season. But who the hell knows? And that was the killer about last season. We don't know as more about EJ, one way or the other. We don't have either Orton or Marrone (awesome!), so what was really accomplished? 9-7 has no bearing on this season.

My philosophy is very consistent. You should the high draft pick young QB get every chance to win the job over the passed around journeyman vet. Cassel and Orton are who they are at this point. Good solid careers, but who aren't going to elevate your team. I hate Johnny Football, but the Browns shoudl give him every chance to win the job over McCown.

So I never hated Orton. I just hated what he represented. And that has been Bills footbal football for the last 15 years. We have been a joke at developing QBs.

    I usually agree with this....

    however

I dont agree with it if you think you have a legit window of opportunity. This defense is biult to win now. We have to capitalize on that.
