Yes significantly. He had the same amount of carries as the year before but 300 less rushing yards. He also had 400 less receiving yards (ypr dropped 5 yds) which dropped his total production by a full third on 28 less touches YoY. His TD total also plummeted from 11 to 5. If that isn't significant I don't know what is.
So because his production drops off for ONE year he immediatley isnt capable of producing top 5 back seasons anymore? I LOL at this.
You can chalk it up to less touches but he's expected to be the work horse here in a downhill offense and he doesn't have Sproles behind him here. Also, If you think his Oline was bad in Philly what do you think he has in Buffalo?
We are gonna have to discuss O line after the season....we still dont know if lack of talent AND coaching was the problem with that O line which just brought in (maybe) improvements at the guard positions and a real OL coach in Kromer to coach them up....not to mention good fullbacks and TE's that can actually block. At the end of this season we might be viewing this OL in a way different light. And no....he doesnt have Sproles backing him up he has Freddie Jackson......who as a relief pitcher I LOVE.
He's clearly not handled leaving Philly well. If the Bills don't have the season that everyone is dreaming of I would bet that he becomes more of a distraction than a leader.
McCoy WAS eagles football if you have been watching them in recent years......he probably felt like the eagles were as much his team as they were the HC. He does come across as a jilted teenager. There is something to be said about a mega talented RB like McCoy coming into a situation with a chip on his shoulder and something to prove.

don't worry they will figure it out, having Mathis instead of a rookie would be huge.
They love John Miller doe....
I wonder if John coming in and being much better then advertised may have a influence on this decision.......especially if the dollar demands are high.
Im good either way.....

I am curious as to why anyone would be worried about having a bad defense when
- Rex Ryan has historically had very good defenses
- This is probably one of the most talented teams he has ever coached on defense
I mean....just go back and look at Rex Ryan defenses over the years and where they have been ranked.

Is pointing a condition associated with the yips?
Honestly I think it is a total mental thing....he is being too "careful" with his throws
This is pure and unfettered speculation. The competition is impossible to gauge because the media has had very, very limited access to watching practice. Three sessions does not a clear observation make. And, they're throwing mostly against air.
Astute and longtime Bills fans should be accustomed to how a QB competition plays out. And it's not decided in June. Rex is right, this is a process that has a way of working itself out. We'll have a far better idea come the third or fourth week of training camp as to who the front-runner is.
Anyone suggesting that there's one now is merely speculating with no consequences of being wrong or right.
Stop it.

John....were not doing that...members of the media are. It is stemming from articles being posted and the fans are commenting on it.
Just sayin

Agreed... But the route v air inaccuracy concerns me this year as it did last year
I guess my question to that would be....I wonder how other QBs are looking on their throws in other NFL camps at this time of year.....
-
Watch the end of this 2 minute drill.
No....he tries to "point" the ball too much
-
I think you nailed it right on the head. Unfortunately so. . . .
I think its way out of whack
Last year EJ was HORRIBLE at this time......this year he is ahead of the pack (and no matter how much the media will put "meh" on that....the fact is he does not look like his is lost the way he did last year at this time.
There IS something to be said from showing progression in practice from one year to the next like EJ has done.
But
Its not over yet.....the two QBs he is in competion with are new....which means the scope of play could entirely change......I just dont think that EJ showing progression from last year at this time should be dismissed.

What would be interesting here is if the bills
Start EJ Manuel
Move Tyrod Taylor to backup
Cut Cassell
Not saying that is gonna happen........but it still accomplishes what I wanted from this QB process.......a starting QB with upside and a veteran backup (Which Taylor is from his 4 years backing up in Baltimore)

anyone camped out at the airport just in case?
That is Yolo's job...check the bushes....
-
Looks like the bills might have dodged a bullet here?
Whaley is on his game.....even with all the detractors he has because he isnt perfect.

Incognito announces his intention to have gender reassignment surgery in the offseason.
McKelvin is nominated for a Pulitzer for his collection of short stories.
Dareus wins Le Mans
Harvin gets along with everyone.
We learn that El Pegual can actually own the Bills AND the Sabres despite NFL and NHL by laws which expressly prohibit dual ownership.
Manny Lawson is actually several midgets standing on each others shoulders concealed by a trench coat.
Thats a lot of midgets

Andy had a small rock hammer that he wore down to almost a nub.... You need to watch the movie again!
No he actually also had a rock...he used it to break into the sewer line

It's simmering more or less, I just hate the fact that I don't really like a star player on this team. I don't remember ever feeling that way about a player.
How about when Thurman thomas was cuzzing like a sailor at a father who took his son to training camp and made the mistake of jeering him in the crowd
or
When Jim Kelly did the things he did when he was younger
or
When Bruce Smith was having substance abuse problems
And yes...I love these players above and they have ALL turned out to be fine people in the end.....but it was not without bumps along the way when they were younger.......
If we want this team to become a winner.....we need to understand they are not all saints.

I was aware of his talent as well as the Shady nickname, I just wasn't aware how bad the Shady was. As each day elapses without his talent making up for his ridiculous comments its very hard finding any reason to like him. First he was sour on going to Buffalo, get it, that's fine. I actually liked the fact that he felt a bit scorned, figured it would be more fuel for the fire this year. As time progressed it seemed like every time he spoke he would say the right thing "I'm happy to be a Buffalo Bill, let's put the past behind" while seconds later a passive aggressive comment would follow about his previous relationship with the Eagles and Kelly. Right when you think he's finally shutting up he repeats the same crap all over again, except this time why not add the race card. After he gets smoked by the media he goes into retreat not addressing his ridiculous comments, he resurfaces somehow angry that he would be asked to discuss them at more length. As I said earlier, the guy needs to get on the field and do it fast. As it stands I have very little reason to like him and can't imagine I'm the only one who feels that way.
Your better then this Mike....I have seen you better then this

@SalSports: Bad news if you want Mathis on Bills would be (from my sense) Bills aren't going to just go all-in to get him.
And this is entirely possible to.....
The bills might just take their lumps with rookie John Miller
That actually does make me more intrigued since Bills have a great relationship with Rosenhaus. But I just don't see it for a 34 year old OG. They would be better served trying to extend Incognito a few years.
I think we need to be veeeery careful with the Cog......they need to see that he can keep from having a melt down before they start talking long term.

"pidgeoto"
-
repetition repetition repetition
this rotating scheme may not be the best way to do it. or at least do 1 full day with the #1's, the next with the #2's etc etc
this constant rotation might be making it hard for the receivers to get in synch with the QB
just a thought
That is why they plan on doing it for a while........
Im fine with the way they are handling it
-
Not for a 34 year old OG. Especially not now with Incognito fitting in nice and Miller way ahead of schedule. 2 months ago it was a need.
It still is.....we cannot have enough good players at this position.
And Cog is on a 1 year deal.
-
@SalSports: Source: #Bills inquiring what Evan Mathis' expectations are before determining own level of interest. (meaning, money and roll)
They are kicking the tires or at least window shopping
Its funny because THIS IS THE GUY I WANTED....all offseason at OG
-
It is worth watching because the bills and eagles were talking about him in the offseason.....
It could happen
-
Would be REALLY interesting if the bills do this......
Would be going from totally guard deficient from one year to QUALITY guards in the next.....
Cog may end up backing up in a situaiton like this
-
This is simple.....
Top rated run blocker last year.....
We want to run the ball.....a lot
-
This is a guy that the bills were interested on in the offseason wasnt he?
Injury settlement or cut Williams and sign this guy!
(except he is subject to waivers right?)
-
probably surprises no one. Wonder what will be available in the 16-20 first round pick range?
If ever there was a draft to package and move up from the 20th pick into the top 10 and take a stab at a QB......this would be the draft.
This team is loaded with so much talent now they literally coud take that shot.
