  1. Vontae Davis is sooo good. He will be covering Sammy week 1, I suspect. Crap.

The good news is we have Clay, Harvin, and Woods also on the field.....

Although I suspect this year with be the "it doesnt matter who is on Watkins" year........

I want to see them go right at Revis when we play the jets with Watkins on designed plays to get Sammy open........

  2. no.

    no no no.

Why? He would NOT, as you say "make us better." He is a spoiled brat. We have too many young-ish receivers to need that crap. Percy is just Roscoe Parish with about 15 more pounds of muscle.

And to be clear, I wouldnt want Percy for even the veteran minimum. I dont want him anywhere near my team. Plus, we already have somebody similar on our team, but who is a better person and teammate. His name is Clifford J Spiller.

    pass.

Roscoe Parrish with 15 more pounds of muscule would be INSANE

People seem to forget that the ONLY reason Roscoe was not a NFL star is he simply could not stay healthy....he was absolutely uncoverable in the slot

  3. I am sure im not the only one thinking about it......I know that Henderson despite his ups and downs last year ended up being ok for a starter (coaching last year should have given him more help)

But lets face it......2nd round draft pick offensive linemen that fail are HUGE losses.........when you take a chance on a OT at that slot they have to hit......or else your left scrambling and not feeling good about your O line situation at all........there was so much talk about how if Kujo was not a second round pick he would have been straight cut last year

    fast forward to now

The feeling about Kujo from last year to now appears to be night and day.....articles are coming out about the turnaround.....the camp he went to in the offseason....being in better shape.....more focus...immediately getting 1st team reps in OTA's

Its almost as if Roman (and the OL coach) have said "yes you were not handled correctly in your rookie year.....and we are here to change that"

Lets face it.......the best thing that could happen for this team is for Kujo to turn into a solid RT for this team.......

and....thank god we did not cut him after a horrible first year.

  4. people love this guy but him getting blown 5 yards into the backfield one on one at the start of half the plays (hyperbole on the half the plays line) is not due to garbage on either side of him - he has lost strength/leverage from all his leg injuries and it shows.

he'll do better this year as the scheme can only be designed better than that clusterufck last year- i expect the design will not isolate/expose him like last year did as we return to competent coaching

This is a totally uninformed opinion........this happens to every center in the league from time to time.

Wood himself said he was not happen with his performance last year so there is no doubt he did not play well.....but to say this is soley on him and discounting "the garbage around him" is not realistic.......

There are many factors that come into play on any GIVEN play as to way a center loses ground or does not lose ground on a given play.......

  5. We don't let just anyone join the discussion here. At TBD you will find the finest minds on the internet discussing not just football, but any number of topics ranging from advanced moat theory, theoretical physics and variations in the gravitational constant, molecular gastronomy and pickle brine, the cure for various lifestyle CHOICES, and gun/dog control. Sharpen your pencil, because you're where the fleamoulds are.

Dont forget the debate on whether or not there is a UFO on the bottom of the ocean

  6. We don't know that. This team let Andy Levitre walk at the end of 2012 and still hasn't adequately replaced him, except perhaps on paper a few times. For some unknown reason this team puts far more value on the defensive side of the line then they do the offensive side. Probably the biggest reason the team can't elevate the QB position to something other then "he sucks!"

No we let Levitre walk because of the MASSIVE contract he got in free agency

And look what happened to him

  7. I'm curious if Orton didn't retire, would he be the undisputed starter??

    Imo

I do not think he would be....

But I also think Cassel would not have been brought in......

Im tellin everybody I really think Rex is going to give TT a legit shot at that starting spot.....

Rex would have cut Orton days before Leroi said EJ would be cut

and with the win the naysayers will point to what I have been saying when Orton produced ZERO points against backups

EJ won because the Pats* didn't play Gronk and their #1 WR and pulled Brady* and more starters in the 2nd half.

The switch should have been made much earlier. maybe after the KC game definitely after the 9 point Miami game

We also were missing key players...why do you keep leaving that out.

  8. I get that, and the fact that he was a rookie was probably the only reason he is still on the roster. Sure O linemen can take a few years to develop, and regardless of what Marrone said a lot can be said about the continuity of having the same player next to you year after year.

In my view fans are still somewhat reaching in their thinking that players who performed so bad they couldn't even see the field, or players who looked horrible last year will somehow step up to become instant reliable starters. The article Carucci wrote was moronic, and that a guy who was about the worst RT in the league will now become a valuable LT is preposterous. Now fans going on and on about how good the line will be, while some even supporting the nonsense that Carucci wrote.

Will a new improved coaching staff help, you bet! Will a better player next to Henderson at OG help, you bet. I'm also hopeful a full off season program of training, and conditioning will help. Who really knows tho, and it looks like a gamblers throw of the dice to me.

Forgive me John as I'm still bothered by the fact that after Whaley couldn't land Bulaga at RT, Evans at OG that he simply gave up trying to find quality experienced talent for those positions. 10 mill for a RB, and 6 mill for a WR, and yet the team still doesn't a top line to protect the average / below average QB's. The known worst unit on the team was about to get some solid upgrades, and then they didn't.

OK....I understand the frustration. I wanted Bulaga as well

    but

Now look what is happening.....Kujo is actually coming into camp in shape and competing for the RT spot......Henderson.....well you can see from the film that he had his ups and downs but one thing that is NOT inquestion is he is athletic with all the tools

Then you factor in they did bring in Cog and drafted John Miller (there is just something about John Miller that I really like....they guy was meant to be a starting guard in the NFL is is just a bowling ball....now we find out when he gets to the bills that he doesnt make the boneheaded rookie mistakes either) they resign Urbik for depth and he was a starter last year on a subpar line.....but still a starter.

You factor in a TE in Clay who can block

Now you also have to factor in what it would have cost to bring in Bulaga......WE HAVE GREAT DEFENSIVE PLAYERS WE NEED TO INK.......

I will say this right here right now....if Kujo does the turnaround and actually takes that RT spot? I have no problem with what Whaley did this offseason......he was patient and did not jettison Kujo.......he was calculated in when he took his OG in the draft.....he was thrifty in the aquisition of Cog........and he was really smart in getting one of the better OL coaches to coach them all up after the disaster that was last season.

Lets just wait and see.....Whaley might come out smelling like a rose on his......his three drafts all looked to have been very good.

  9. I mean....does anyone listen to exactly how the media ask their questions?

Even Shady yesterday.......they asked him the same question in a different way FOUR TIMES IN A ROW

McCoy is a smart kid.....he knows when he is being baited so he got nasty with the media and threatened to end the interview.....good for him.

Now as far as Rex? I think Ryan does this stuff just to bring the spotlight onto himself and off of his players because he can handle it......football players should be focused on getting ready for football

  10.

I don't remember a lot of Bills fans throwing that number around.

I do, however, remember a number of Bills fans saying that PFF grades are to be taken with a grain of salt.

I think they can be graded on their 1st year; I just want to see Kromer do the grading, and then put it into his own context.

There's no arguing that the OL underperformed last year. The discrepancy, as I see it, is how much responsibility they bare for QBs that held the ball too long, RBs that missed open lanes, and a generally disorganized offensive structure.

Hopefully we will see this year. I do think the personnel is better, and I'm hopeful that the 2nd year guys can grow from where they were last year (a full offseason in an NFL program has a huge effect on guys).

    let me clarify that....

Its not that they be graded in their first year but recieve a overall final grade on how good they will be as a NFL player

  11. I find it interesting how people B word about cap space and this player not playing well and that person not doing this......without also including the reasons WHY those things might be happening.

Wood is a solid center....which by the way is not (just like left tackle) THAT easy to replace....

be careful what you wish for......because the next player could also be worse instead of better.....we dont have Woods replacement on the roster.

Lets see if improved OL play at the guard positions increases Woods productivity before deciding to shitcan a leader in our locker room capologists

  12. This might be true, and for kinda the same reason the team let Levitre walk away. For the fact that Andy was a slightly one dimensional player in that he wasn't all that great a run blocker, and nether is Glenn. Levitre was by far the teams best pass blocker, and has been sorely missed the last few years. Glenn is far and away this teams best pass blocker, and with him being a good LT it makes him about the most prized player on offense.

Marrone wasn't about continuity at all, and in fact he stated he thought that it didn't matter at all as long as you started the best five linemen. Well, we all now know how much Bills fans think of Saint Doug's ideas about the line. He fielded the worst line in the NFL for most of the season, and it finished at 30th with Urbik back at OG. Plus the team graded as the very worst run blocking unit in the NFL. So it was an entire horrific line effort, and not just Glenn. We also now have come to realize that Marrone was an idiot, and mostly got lucky obtaining a 9-7 season. The defense, (Schwartz) & Orton were the biggest reasons for that record IMO.

What have we fans learned the last seven years since Jason Peters was traded away. That good pass blocking LT's aren't that easy to find, and it took the team four years to find another decent player for that position. Then I feel the team was exceedingly lucky to find Glenn in the second round. While Mike Mayock stated he thought Glenn would be a good tackle, he also thought he could be an elite / great OG. The problem with this thinking of moving Glenn to OG is that it leaves a gigantic void that can't be filled by off season penciled in paper heroes.

The only thing Seantrel Henderson proved is that he looked like a 1st round steal on paper before the season started, and then looked like a seventh rounder during the regular season. Then when a playoff berth was on the line he folded like a deck chair on the titanic. Henderson may or may not improve as this team has a long history of drafting "maybe" line players in the later rounds. Demetress Bell, Ed Wang, Kyle Calloway, Chris Hairston, Zerbie Sanders, Mark Asper, Cyril Richardson. I don't see how a player who couldn't even get on the field for one of the worst units in the league last year can now be penciled in as a starter.

Then moving Henderson to LT would be about the most disastrous move this team could make. The guy couldn't even handle RT, so that qualifies him as a starting LT? Shear idiocy! Personally I think its rather foolish to be penciling in a third round rookie at OG considering the past draft history of this team. Has anyone drafted after the second round besides the fifth round choice of Kyle Williams or the seventh round choice of Stevie Johnson made any sort of significant impact since 2006?

What we also learned is that paying 100 million to a defensive end might sell a lot of season tickets, but it doesn't win games in itself. Even with three pro bowlers on the D line, and the number four overall defense the team still barely had a winning record.

I gotta wonder if the FO will ever come to understand that today's game revolves around finding and protecting an elite QB, and not an elite DE, or DT, or WR, or RB! With all the non QB superstars on the team ...will the team even have the money to pay an elite QB should they find one?

    Fear

The problem with all of this evalutation is it does not take into account that

    - Different players mature at different rates

    - Rookies tend to play like....well....rookies

Seantrel had his issues no doubt....and you are correct in that our coaching didnt seem to fathom that a rookie OT might need some help on that side

I am NOT saying that Henderson should be starting at OT......especially if Kujo has found his game....only that these offensive linemen should not be graded on their first year.

  13. He ranked 8th out of all LTs in 2013 according to PFF. Didn't Crack the top 10 last year. He is currently a middle of the road LT. He needs a big year at the position to get that $8 mil/yr. That is not average LT money.

I'd be fine extending him around $7 mil/yr, but I wouldn't be penciling him in as our LT for the next 10 years. Get him extended, find/develop a better LT, move Glenn inside. He could be a top 5 G.

He also might not be able to physically do the things they want their LT to be able to do.

So let me see if I understand this.......

Just 2 years ago Glenn rates as the 8th overall LT (in the entire NFL out of 32 professional teams)

Last year he drops a bit when there was clearly something wrong with him and horrible coaching

I just want make sure I am following along

Now because of crappy coaching and a ailment we are supposed to forget that Glenn was in the top 10 of LT's........and keep that ever facinating dream of moving this guy into LG like he would actually accept that move after being a top 10 LT.......so that the bills can solidify the position (and of course to pay him less)

    LAY OFF THE CRACK

  14. The article is a joke. Glenn was the best lineman on the team last season, and would have looked better if he had a better player next to him. Along with a better coaching staff.

Henderson at least played, and when he did he mostly stunk it up. He graded as one of of the very worst OT's in the league.

    Watch him deftly block Mack....

    Holy Crap!

Alot of people feel he could be an All Pro G. He was seen by most of the league as a guard coming out of college, rated as the 2nd best in the class behind DeCastro. You

He is a decent/good LT. He is not the athlete most teams want to have at LT. He could be a monster inside. The money difference for him if that's the case is neglible. IMO, he is looking for a deal similar to what Jared Veldheer signed with Arizona and the Eugene Monroe extension in Baltimore. Basically, between $30 and $40 million, averaging around 7 mil/yr cap hit. Honestly, I'd take Veldheer or Monroe over Glenn at LT at this point. IMO, he is not worth that type of deal based on his play thus far. He is no where near the pass blocker he needs to be to be lumped in with those guys. If he moves inside and dominates, he could easily clear $7 mil/yr. If he stays as an average LT, $7 mil/yr is his ceiling.

You dont get it......while you have a perceived value on his play I guarentee you that he and his agent do not feel that way.....

It is REALLY difficult to find quality left tackles......we have one right now playing left tackle....he needs to stay there....have you forgotten the years from Peters to Glenn?

  15. Whoa...

"Of the three starting options, Tyrod Taylor showed the best on Wednesday. Although he'll try to escape the pocket a bit more than you would like, his accuracy on deep throws made him stand out from both EJ Manuel and Matt Cassel."

It would not shock me at all to see Tyrod win this competition.......

He is a system QB......and if he throws well on deep balls it takes the lid off the defense.......

There is something else to consider here......

While i dont think he is going anywhere....Matt Cassell has shown the propensity to get injured

EJ has had only 1 healthy season......he didnt get a chance to play a whole 2nd season

Even if Tylor doesnt start...there is a good chance he might be playing at some point this season.

  16. @JoeBuscaglia: The #Bills opened up OTAs for the second time to media. I had some observations... and they're all right here: http://t.co/cIQ6HS52La

Cyrus at first team RT, Seantrel with 2nd unit

I know its early.....but it looks like Whaley may have done it again with another draft. Without a first round pick He gets

Darby who is already looking good in practice......

John Miller who Rex is basically saying is already a starter

Karlos Williams will be on ST's and have time to groom....but should be a beast

Nick O'Leary has been impressing in camp with his catches

If the bills just hit on these players this was a slam dunk draft
