  1. I think thinking people realize the world we live in. That when something like this comes out a lawyer will immediately deny it regardless of any facts. I think thinking people all know this and all take it for what it is, and they really don't care what a player's agent or lawyer says right off the bat. Galette will be brought in and asked to explain, and even if the league uses the statements against him, saying what about when your lawyer said this and that, it has no affect on the ruling. It's all posturing.

    As far as Brady* goes, I'm not positive what you mean. I don't think the league cared what he said right off the bat in his initial press conference about not knowing anything. I do think they cared what he said in his interview with Wells.

    It's different when someone is asked a question by a representative of the league. Like I'm sure that the league cared what McNally said to NFL investigators right after the game and before the investigation started. That's something altogether different than just a player or agent telling the media I am completely innocent.

    Does anybody else but me think that

    - Athletes that come forward and say "Yes I did it.....and I am sorry for it.....I will personally apologize for what I did" rather then go through all this lawyer speak when they are PLAINLY guilty should be rewarded for that to encourage more honesty out of players......

    I dont mean letting ax murdering nfl players getting off scott free or anything.....but if we are going to encourage positive player conduct policy....lets encourage them to also admit mistakes and lessen whatever the punishment was going to be.......

    Adversely

    When a player does something wrong.....and they and their lawyer...agent....whatever continue to try to work the legal process....and not just show "respective personal conduct" then actually PUNISH them for doing that and increase the punishment instead of allowing them to appeal and try to get a lesser punishment.

    This is just my opinion.....but I feel like some of this stuff is PROMOTING bad personal player conduct.

  2. 3 pages I see the OP has not come back to defend his comments (which he typically tends to do.....start these type of thread for fun)

    Its ok.....just not to be taken seriously

    Cog has not been a good OG "for a time" he has been a legit starter on every team he has played on.....it is attitude that gets him moved from place to place....not ability....agility that won him a pro bowl birth.

    Its a little difficult to evaluate OL when they are not allowed to touch anybody AND when they have to go against the best DL in the league.......there gonna lose battles in camp

  3. Regarding Kryk's comments

    - It does not bother me that QBs make bad decisions with the ball right now....this is the time for that.......what would bother me is contuous overthrows, underthrows, or late throws

    - Im trying to find out the bad in the Tyrod Taylor comments.......bagging on him because of his height? He isnt going to have a growth spurt between now and the start fo the season we all KNEW that he was a short QB.....the question is......can he play? Is he the most accurate........does he have pocket awareness........can he throw the deep ball? stuff like that.

  4. Obviously, I enjoy your posts a lot Kirby. But why the patience with Taylor and not with Manuel, who has played one less year? IMO, and don't know how anyone can argue, Taylor has received far superior NFL coaching than Manuel.

    Vick was a #1 overall pick while Taylor was a 6th rounder. Vick is one of the greatest athletes to ever play qb and had an absolute cannon for an arm. He made multiple pro bowls.

    And that said, it never failed that teams would eventually adjust to Vick. And he couldn't beat them with his arm or he would get hurt. Taylor is going to get killed if he tries to play like he did at VT.

    I hope he shocks the world since he is a Bill. At the same point, a lot of posters won't think he could ever be a viable NFL starter if he wasn't on the Bills.

    A simple answer to that would be we have a team around the QB that is biult to win now....

    If TT has been better coached and is better at the moment.....he should play

  5. Indeed there are differences, but without a stud QB, it's a lot more difficult to make assumptions about our success.

    Indeed

    The only thing I draw from

    - Our offense was horrible last year HORRIBLE

    - Our defense was great last year.....AWESOME

    That netted a 9-7 record......the first winning season in a while......so if defense remains awesome (and there is no reason to think it would not) and offense just picks it up a little bit...........10-6? 11-5?

  6. You know.....I never did this before today but has anyone actually taken a look at the ravens forums for fan opinions on Tyrod Taylor.

    I am on page 3 of an old post there and not ONE fan has a bad thing to say about him....positives on character.....no bitching.......waited for his time and took advantage of him......quality guy....many think he is the best qb out of the 3 we have

    Interesting.......

  7. After one mini-camp practice. This is happening now.

    Lets not get carried away now....I said I am warming to Tyrod Taylor.

    5th year in the league with NO starts at QB that I can find; = 5th year rookie FWIW. Sorry for the confusion.

    http://espn.go.com/nfl/player/stats/_/id/14163/tyrod-taylor

    i HOPE THE KID LIGHTS IT UP! I just don't see it.

    You do know he was playing behind Flacco right.....who stayed healthy?

    The ravens liked him enough to keep him in that 2nd position all those years?

  8. Everything you say in that last paragraph requires a very accurate QB who is on target with his WRs. From what I have seen in print, Taylor is an inaccurate QB. If that is the case, then having the speed WRs is useless.

    Time to set the print aside......and look at what is actually happening now.....

    The most accurate QB today (and with the ones) was Tyrod Taylor

  9.

    After spending all the money they did this off-season on offensive weapons, and being his 1st year HC of this team, Rex Ryan is going to start a 5th year rookie at QB after what he had to endure with Sanchez and Smith in New York?

    If he (Ryan) is going to fail in this his 1st year in Buffalo, i will be behind a veteran game manager: I just don't see Taylor (or E.J.) starting. IMO.

    There is NOT a QB on this team that prevents Rex from liking Tyrod and starting him....tried to trade for him while he was with the jets

    edit: WTF does "5th year rookie even mean"

    This guy is Scott Chandler at another position.....now I know Scott has been sent packing but that is because we got a top TE in clay on the team.

    It means that Tyrod sat behind a franchise QB that never got hurt and has been running NFL scout teams for the past 3 years.....that does NOT make him a rookie.

    It makes him a unknown......and since franchise QBs are counted on one hand....u turn over every rock trying to find one.

  10. I am starting to become a Tyrod Taylor fan really fast

    - He is actually making the throws

    - He brings the ability of an extra threat on the field......very fast

    - I want to see how durable he is....does he slide to not take hits....does he just run for first downs like a starting QB should

    He is going to be given a legit chance to win this thing.......we might have something here

  11. they have a little more than the Bills do for one year but if it comes down to money or a long term deal my bet is SF

    @AdamSchefter: 49ers lost 4 good players to retirement. Upside: it created $25 million of salary-cap room over next year, and $40 million of room in 2017.

    I admit that I am not as good as the cap stuff as others.....but didnt Miami just pay "franchise type money" to extend their QB?

  12. @SalSports: Chris Hogan is such a good route runner. Very precise. #NotBreakingNews

    @john_wawrow: Still can't understand how EJ hesitates on 7-on-7 drills.

    @mikerodak: Matt Simms slow, slow, slow to get the ball out in 7-on-7s. Broken up by Tarpley, Cockrell and Gaines on his only 3 reps.

    @SalSports: Jimmy Gaines got beat badly by MarQueis Gray on out and up. Cassel found him for TD. Donnie Henderson was not happy.

    RE: EJ

    @SalSports: @ChrisTrapasso Seems to be seeing field well. But much easier with no live pass rush. Short-armed a couple outs again earlier.

    @SalSports: Twice in a row Tyrod Taylor has worked the middle of the field in 7/7 red zone work for a nice touchdown pass.

    Uh ohhhhh

  13. How? Do you deny the offense was scaled back?

    It's irrelevant because I don't care and it's not what I'm talking about. One poster thought I was "wildly speculating" and I clearly was not. Marrone scaled back the offense. Period. I don't care if Jay Cutler one time had his offense scaled back too, it's irrelevant.

    So your gonna hang onto that bone are you.......trying to make some kind of point of a OC simplifying an offense for a young QB

    Good luck with that....make sure to feel that way about almost all the other OC's and how they handle their QBs on other NFL teams as well....

    Christ

  14. So wild.

    http://www.buffalorumblings.com/2013/12/9/5191390/buffalo-bills-to-scale-back-offense-for-ej-manuel

    Following an abysmal performance in Tampa Bay, Buffalo Bills head coach Doug Marrone told reporters on Sunday afternoon that he plans on scaling back his offense a bit for beleaguered starting quarterback EJ Manuel.

    "We've been giving him more and more, and now it's a point where you have to re-evaluate that," Marrone said Sunday. "We've been going fast with his progression, and now we just have to look at it and get him started again. And it's not starting over, don't get me wrong. We have to look to see what we can do, and probably cut down what we're doing."

    Your reading what you want to into that

    I do enjoy a good strawman Gug.

    That may very well be true, I think I did read something like that. It's irrelevant though.

    Its not irrelevant and its not the first time I have heard that Hackett might not have been that bad of a OC but that Marrone was having an adverse effect on his playcalling and being involved too much.

    That is DEF relevant when it comes to the QB position

  15. Am I the only one here who is sick and tired of hearing Rex talk?

    Is he on a media tour or something? Dont you have actual work to do, Rex? It seems like I hear from him more than all other coaches combined.

    Its starting to feel like he's a Kardashian - famous just for being famous. He hasnt actually accomplished much lately.

    Not trying to be a hater here, but dood, why dont you shut up and do some actual work.

    Perhaps he is such a great coach that he can do his "actual work" and still drawn media attention to himself and off the players.....

    hmmmmmmmm

  16.

    Yeah, I could see any of these guys making the team (plus the others you listed):

    * John Conner

    * Dez Lewis

    * Meeks

    * Buchanon

    * Thigpen

    I think Dez Lewis and Buchanon might go to practice squad. I think Meeks and Thigpen probably get the ax in the numbers game.

    At the expense of:

    * Randell Johnson

    * Brooks - they need the support; I just haven't seen enough good CB play from him yet

    * Gay

    * Hogan

    * Goodwin

    I absolutely believe Randell Johnson makes it.....brooks and gay might be cuts......I think Hogan and Goodwin are battling for one spot.

    Also, I could see them dropping Carrington, though I'm hopeful he has continued to improve and makes the team.

    If Carrington is healthy no way he gets dropped......the guy is big and versitile a great backup type DL
