  1. Contrary to popular belief, I'm not on a crusade to tell anyone how terrible EJ is. I have only maintained that I am highly skeptical that he develops into a franchise qb, that's all. Most sound football minds would and do agree with me. I hope he does though, obviously. As others have stated, this conversation has grown tired and it's time to stop talking about it and see what the guy actually does on the field the last week in July on.

If your looking for a total EJ hater that would be Firechan.....:)

I would say that there has been some progression in EJ......

Last year's workouts and training camp......All QBs horrible including EJ

This years workouts and training camp.....EJ has had his moments......and training camp has not yet happened

  2. It is important that we continue to draft well on the offensive side of the ball because we are having to pay out these big contracts on the defensive side of the ball........

That is why the analytics department should be working overtime right now on the QBs coming into this next draft.........what we need to do is keep our money invested in keeping this defense dominant......and do whatever it takes to draft our franchise QB (and hope one of these guys show enough that they can hold a clipboard for a year)

  3. My TIVO is filling up like crazy right now (I really wish they would stagger the shows better but 3 I am keeping up with)

The Last Ship - I like all these end of the world gigs but my daughters former management company has a main character on that show.......since we know him we keep up

The Strain.....love all the zombie stuff

Falling Skies.....sad that this is the final season and feel like it could have gone on longer then this season like Walking Dead

  4. and ill say, i still think he was told to try to locate the ball in spots that were hard for the defender when taking the downfield outside shots. his placement was pretty consistent from my own gut reaction -- it was just consistently very conservative in a "if the WR makes a great play or a flag comes out, cool, but no risk for turnover" way.

very rare were the aggressive downfield shots where a qb could be described as "letting it rip" but we did see a fair number of throws right on the sideline where it was tough to make a play.

I think that will be one of the first things that the new staff will try to coach out of EJ Manuel.......

My quesiton is.....if EJ goes from ultra conservative on the turnover department to gunslinger, interception prone, but big play QB.....will he still be crucified

There was at least one downfield throw that was perfectly placed and Grimes just made a hell of a play on it. It was to Sammy.

Doesn't mean anything more than that's one that could have gone his way based on his part in the play, but worth noting.

I was rewatching that game last night and that pass you mentioned.

That pass from Sammy from EJ with Grimes covering I dont know how EJ could not have been any more perfect on that throw.........he threw it so Sammy could run full speed under it......the ball was dropped "in the garbage can" where the only way Grimes could make a play on the ball was to reach into through Sammies body....Sammy actually got the end of the ball with his hands for a brief instant.........and Grimes makes a perfect play

If Sammy hauls that in that play would go down as one of the best deep throws of last season as far as accuracy from a QB.......and who knows where things go from there.

  5. The problem is that I seriuosly doubt Hughes plays to the end of that contract as once he starts getting paid 7.5 per he'll start grumbling for a new contract. So In that sense the Bills didnt really save money on it as they'll likely have to do redo it 2-3 years from now.

There is always someone pissin in the punchbowl

Yes the bills absolutely saved money.

  6. None of us have seen Kiko play since his second ACL injury to the same knee. Is he 100%? Will he be able to get back to the same level? Assuming he comes back at 100% is hopeful at a minimum.

Ryan Matthews hasn't been able to stay healthy for his whole career so assuming that he will be healthy this year is again, hopeful.

    Bingo....

    and

Last year was one of the first years where Murray WASNT injured correct?

It is Murray's running style that lends him to getting hurt all the time.........

I personally could care less if the eagles got better.....the bills used a tradable asset (because the emergency of Preston Brown MADE HIM EXPENDABLE) they used a defensive asset to greatly improve themselves on the offensive side of the ball......

That is the way Whaley looked at it....and that is the way he SHOULD look at it.

  7. So 45 minutes has passed and law enforcement has not yet arrived........I sat in the front porch with my old military helmet and shotgun.......and one did stop by and ask me if I was dressing up early for Halloween........then I offered him some lemonade.....

but anyways....its way to hot so I went back inside and got on my computer and googled the phone number that called me......

5 complaints today for that number.....all with the same message from fake IRS. Out of the 5 only one of them was stupid enough to call back like me.

    :(

So no jail for me today....God has a more severe punishment for me it seems

  8. I received a call on my cell phone

    - From a man with a heavy middle eastern accident.......in what appears to be a call center from the back ground noise and other people talking

    - I have apparently committed tax fraud......and police are coming to my house to arrest me within the next 45 minutes

    - The person who called me left a message asking for a call back stating they were with the IRS....when I called back I was informed of this information

    - Not sure if scam because I didnt let them finish their conversation....basically told them I will talk to the police when they come out to the house

    - No the IRS has not sent me any written notification

    - I am in the last few days of a Chapter 11 bankruptsy.........so dont see how it would even be possible because the courts and my lawyers have my tax returns ever year

    but

If I am not around after 45 minutes from now.....it was great knowing all of you here at TBD...:)

  9. i dont think its a hard take to understand, if you stop trying to prove it wrong.

we paid mccoy a top notch market value contract, and gave up extra to get him. if hes the straw that stirs the drink, great, sometime you have to do that.

then you have clay who we had to give a top notch contract, and its possible we were bidding against ourselves a little to try and make sure it hurt the dolphins. if hes the straw that stirs the drink great, sometimes you have to do that.

when you look at them individually its easy to make the argument, barley is simply saying you can only make that argument so many times, and they better work out great.

    OK fair enough

I am just trying to say that I understand why they did what they did.

There was a time when the team rolled on that "cash to cap" model and that absolutely has not worked out for us.......now they are going to other direction and it is a unknown whether it will work out for us...but at least they are trying.

  10. I went to patriot camp (very under cover) with a season ticket holder when i was stationed out in Cape Cod.......my first time at something like that so I was schooled.....dont ask for autographs like a little kid......be polite....etc etc.

Curtis Martin was our version of Freddie Jackson.......the definition of class act got to talk to him for a while......there were 3-4 players that were total jerks to everybody.

Later that year my wife's catering company did a gig out at Kraft's house.....I went a little later and helped them break down the equipment.

    - Those same players were cool as hell

    - Kraft is a big tipper

  11. The scenario I keep envisioning is much like the skater vs security guard videos you can see online. A group of kids messing around where they shouldn't (in this case, with something they shouldn't) and a security guard (Kromer) confronts them. The kids don't take him seriously and just make fun of the crazy old man who cares way too much. Things get heated. The security guard who didn't grab/hit the kid (Kromer's son), sticks around to do damage control after the confrontation.

You wanna get even more morbid?

I wouldnt put it past the teenagers to have one punch the other in the face to make this more believable...

I know that sounds crazy...and I am not saying that is what actually happened.

Teenagers are crazy.......I remember when I was a young airmen stationed at Norton AFB San Bernardino I took a part time job (I had a family already and they did not pay me enough at that rank) at the Big 5 sporting goods store in Bloomington. I was working behind the gun and knife counter when two kids (spotted them as soon as they walked into the store....knew they were up to something) came over to the counter and wanted me to take one of the really sharp knives out so they could "get a better look at it"

I refused...they complained...the idiiot asst manager came over and told me to let them see it......once I sat it up on the counter one of the teens promptly picked the knife up and slashed HIS FRIEND that was standing at the counter across the hand......deep cut to........then BOTH of them ran of the store.......

    Teenagers are crazy

  12. I bet they're not even middle-eastern, but mixes of some sort.

I've been to the actual Middle East. It's a desert for hot women.

I have been there too.....its hard to tell how beautiful they actually are because they have to cover up........I did see some damn pretty eyes...:)

  13.

    There are?

    There really are......

I have been taking a bit of a break from it.....but I was a helicopter dad who was there at all of my daughters auditions up on the hollywood (big lots) and all the other lots too.......

My daughter is the girl next door hispanic/caucasion/ethnically ambig.......but sever projects get casted int he same biuldings and you see ones that are middle eastern specific.........

I am old now (but not dead) but you could throw a bowling ball down the middle of the room and take out like 20 middle eastern girls that make this one look like hamburger meat
