  1. Just curious: What part of the GM role do you put at Marv's feet? If you're one of those people that says "results" (our record, or the number Super Bowl victories) then Marv did about the same in his years as TD, maybe a bit better. (I'm looking at what /dev/null posted.) As I understand it, Marv was brought in as a facilitator of the GM role/process/whatever and as a PR move. I'd say the PR is better now than at the end of the TD era, but Jauron still has not hit bottom. I have no doubt the game day prep/coaching is the worst now it's been in a long time. I like Jaron better (as a person) than Greggo, but think that the coaching has been worse. I liked Mularkey the best of all, personally, but play calling was horrid during his tenure, and I'm not sure he was ever really given the reins. Add to this the loss of Rusty Jones, and I have a hard time saying what period since the start of the TD period was best. Because PR coming out of Marv's tenure was higher, and the results are about the same (if not more consistent), the edge goes to the Marv era. Also, I think we're better set to come out of this in a year or two then we were then. Of course, looking back, I felt this way (and even moreso) at the start of 2003. Thanks for making me realize it's just the same old sh-- again and again. So sorry this is pseudo-stream-of-consciousness. My cofee is just soaking in.
  2. Yeah, I agree. Wilson has taken Coy Wire's old place right in the middle of the "is this the year he's cut? ...because he's not starting material" speculation. For the record, I really like Coy and George Wilson. But, at the same time, it's a very good sign if other talent can push them off the roster. I think it makes a lot of sense to start developing Byrd. I'm excited to look for him in the training camp reports and pre-season.
  3. I just want to post a quick thank you to you, Tim. I really appreciate you taking the time to shareyour take on the Bills and the rest of the league. Suggestion to TSW Moderators: Should we maybe pin one of these each month? I think it would be a lot easier to catch up on the "Ask Tim Graham - May 2009" thread than the monster thread this has become.
  4. Well, moreso than any year I remember, I'm pretty sure 2 or more draftees are not going to make the final roster. I'd consider this "notice" to George Wilson, Reggie Corner, Jon Corto, and even Youboty, and Bryan Scott that you'd better bring your A game to camp!
  5. For What It's Worth
  6. Sure, one questionable trade (Jason Peters) and you think the Bills draft pick buffet is open. I'm in KC now, but don't follow the Chiefs much at all. I assume from your handle you do. Tell us, what are his strengths, weaknesses, reputation? What do you think he's worth?
  7. I think he might be headed very quietly to the practice squad. I don't think he was active enough games last year to be ineligible.
  8. I also couldn't get the link to work, but that search engine, Goggles (or whatever it's called), helped me. While the logo is bad, it's not even in the same league as the craptacular 2012 Olympics logo, which looks like a pink woman going down on a vending machine IMO, worse than just typing "2012" in Ariel font. http://www.london2012.com/
  9. So, does this mean it's time to update your signature? You know, something like "I'm Donte Whitner with the Buffalo Bills and I am worth MILLION$!!!!!"
  10. To say he's probably not in the top 20 DEs in the league is not that damning in my opinion. I honestly think this ranking is about right, and maybe a bit low (for how he was playing 2 years ago). Schobel has consistently gotten to the opposing QB .5-.75 second faster than our other rushers, even when he's drawn a double-team (which I'd say has been about 70-80% of the time on pass plays). Sure, our other rushers haven't been great, but that's a big difference. I'm thrilled to get Schobel back. If we get any other upgrades to our pass rush this offseason I think the results will look much better than last year, not necessarily in sacks, but in INTs and stopping opponents drives. And last year our defense performed decently as a unit. It was clearly our offense that came up short more often.
  11. Yeah, and it's not just the money that would be earned through tax. We could stop spending so much money to police it, paying to prosecute, incarcerate etc.. And of course there's the much-cited taking money away from the criminals selling it today. I used to smoke quite a bit of pot. At this point I think it would be fun way to spend an evening, though I recognize I largely have romanticized nostalgic feelings about weed. I'm convinced weed is no worse than tobacco or alcohol for your health, and safer than alcohol when someone is acutely intoxicated. But, weed is definitely harder on you two days later. I have to be pretty sharp at work, and smoking weed often would be a significant liability. Anyway, I know enough about pot and have known enough pot smokers to not be overly concerned about Raji. Weed is not chemically addictive, so it takes a special personality (behaviorally addicted) for this to be a real problem when the stakes are high. Dude, the stake are so high, heh, heh heh. What was I saying?
  12. Puff, puff, pass, actually. I'd love to sign him. Sure this raises a question about trouble down the road, but that would be the only reason he'd be within our reach in the first place. Sign him, and start promoting the legalization (and taxation) of pot!
  13. Well, since you're asking me to decide (you were asking me, right?) I'd take both!
  14. I'll add a few more positives about brining on Owens: 1. We are treating Edwards like our franchise QB. We really need to find out if he can be one. We could not afford to draft a WR high this year, hope Hardy and Johnson progress, then rinse and repeat next year. I'm happy to see us give him the weapons. Let's see what he can do. 2. I'm glad our DBs have another quality receiver to practice against. It will make them better, and i think it's important for the young ones to get used to this now. 3. I really think Marshawn has the talent to be our franchise back. But I'm not very confident about his ability to handle the media. owens is a media lightning rod and will draw the focus from Marshawn and his recent problems. 4. Sure, the guy can easily become a malcontent. But frankly, I'm becoming a malcontent. I think I might really appreciate and enjoy Ownes calling out our coaches and players who are dogging it if we slip back into chronic losing. Also, Owens is not getting that much money from the Bills this year. A one year $10 Million, or three year $25 million / $10 guaranteed contract would have really bothered me. He's getting Langston Walker or London Fletcher type money, with a huge incentive to play nicely with ohers and cash in on a big contract a year from now.
  15. This is a much better idea. Unfortunately, the interest and dedication dropping of at the end of the year, reflected in the negletc of the scores, is a very accurate picture of what happened last year, more so then a series of numbers. I know I personally just want to forget it happened... especialy that Miami home game lossdfghdhsd **yeeuuulpt** (Sorry, I just threw up.)
  16. Roscoe really needs to work at getting off the LOS without a gimmicky play being drawn up for him. If I remember right, Evans spent his first two years (at least the first) staying late after practice, working on this skill. I'm pretty sure it was Troy Vincent helping him with extra rep's. Maybe McGee could put in some time with him. Also, I think some more upper-body strengh would help. I agree with the spirit of this thread. Parrish is perhaps the most exciting Bill to see in open field with the ball (with McKelvin and McGee close seconds).
  17. I agree with this. Unless you play a bunch of 1 WR packages calling them the outside left and right receiver makes as much sense as #1 and #2. Interestingly, we had Greer covering Owens most of that Monday Night Game. And I'm of the opinion McGee is definitely our #1 CB. At very least, he is our left outside CB
  18. Whoa. Sorry. I swear I read "No. 3 pick for NE"
  19. Says No. 3 Pick Not Involved in Cassel Deal
  20. I'm here for the start of free agency, but I can only stay up until Tuesday.
  21. I completely agree with you. McGee was clearly still hurt in that Miami game. I've been thrilled with Greer's continued improvement, but McGee is the better player IMO. I'd like to see more defenses where McGee is in man coverage. While he's gotten much better in zone coverage, I think he's always been a playmaker when man-on-man. Here's an idea: extend McGee now before he hits FA. Either way, I think the Bills should also keep drafting and developing CBs, in the neighborhood of one per year. You need 3-4 able to play each game and they're signed to a few years at a a time. So yes, it requires constant investment. As long as FA CBs cost so much, most are going to have to come from the draft.
  22. Thanks. Okay, I had last name = Marshawn; First = Lynch
  23. So... I pulled up Marshawn Lynch this morning on the site and it was case number 9999999, which certainly looked odd to me. Also, I enter Marshawn Lynch now and nothing comes up. I think maybe they saw the extra traffic to the site and removed this bogus record. I suspect a hoax from either a hacker or someone on the inside who just lost their job. http://app4.lasd.org/iic/ajis_search.cfm Can someone else verify the info they saw earlier does not come up any more? Maybe I'm just a spelling-challenged dope. But, even if I am, I don't put much stock in this until I see verification from another source.
  24. LA Times article: http://articles.latimes.com/2008/apr/25/sports/sp-sound25 I swear I remember the first ...10(?) picks getting more time than he rest of round 1, but don't see anything like that mentioned.
