  1. I personally think the above stats would be a very successful rookie season. I'm expecting something like: 2.5-3 sacks, ~5-10 "hurries" and 15-20 tackles.
  2. I completely agree. The competition seems to be whether Whitner/Scott (more likely) or Byrd/Whitner (less likely) will be the better combination for the Bills (with Whitner/Simpson a longshot). But that means that only one of Byrd or Scott will start, which obviously isn't possible since they play different positions. (Yes, I'm being sarcastic.) I can't believe how many people can't wrap their heads around this. I'd say there's about a .05% chance of Donte getting cut this year, and that's only if he gets arrested, tests positive for drugs and/or has a disasterous injury (*knocking on wood*).
  3. I'm not sure I understand the WGR article. I've read that Byrd may beat out Donte. I've also heard Scott might beat out Donte. How can Donte be listed as a starter in all three scenarios? I don't think that's logically possible....
  4. So Whitner for a third rounder... hmm. I think Whitner has about a 90% chance of being a solid starter this year, 85% next, and maybe a 75% chance the following year (who knows with injuries etc.) I'd say a third rounder in next year's draft has around a zero percent chance of being a solid starter this year, about a 10-20% chance next year, and a 25-45% the following year. Heart Throb is certainly a a troll, so Bill, or anyone who actually does want to present an argument, you might disagree on the percentages a bit, but how would this trade make any sense? No one feeis like a better safety could certainly be drafted in the third round of next year's draft... do they?
  5. I'll just add that I'm pretty sure "he" has a shower in his living room. ...and after another moment's reflection feel obliged to add: this is a suspicion only; I've never been there.
  6. FYI, Here's a good article from statistician Nate Silver on American's opinion of whether marijuana should be leagalized. http://www.fivethirtyeight.com/2009/02/ame...der-to-bud.html
  7. As different as the three posts before me are, I agree with all of them: oregonbbfan: I'd like to see us go on the attack. I agree, until this team matures, emotion is going to play a large role in our confidence and therefore how aggressively we play. I think we're better served going out and trying to score than maybe getting one more possession than the opponenet in the second half. I agree with Stuckincincy, there may be a compelling reason to defer, though really getting the wind in the forth quarter is not much different than the argument oregonbbfan raises: why not take the advantage earlier and try to jump out to a lead? If however the wind will be increasing, or conditions deteriating, that changes the equation. The Big Cat, I agree that there are plenty of reasons to be down on Jauron and his staff's game day coaching, but this is not one of them.
  8. Doesn't this belong in the marijuana thread? --- Metzelaars, It sounds like if you have work lined up and your family is staying there the decision should be easy. The dearth of 20-somethings will make it easier for the right woman (women?) to find you. Anyway, good luck making your choice.
  9. The Bills will do better this year because of "addition by subtraction." Just removing Jason Peters will likely give us another win or two over last year. With Preston, Fowler, and Dockery gone too, I think we're headed to the playoff. (After all, our O-Line now has heart, which is more important than anything else.) If only we did a little more addition by subtraction, maybe removing Josh Reed, Parrish, Kelsay, we could go deep into the playoffs. Maybe finally getting rid of Schobel too is what it's going to take to get to the Superbowl. No one player is worth more than the team. (Wow, that was painful to type and read, even in a thread like this.)
  10. So now let's compare this to the list where the Bills made the right decision, to see their success rate. Or, we could compare this to other teams to see if the Bills do better or worse.... I think it's nothing to get at all worked up over, but I also usually have a player or two I'm pulling for to make the team, and usually am disappointed when they get cut. (This year my equivalent is I'm pulling for Byrd, hoping he can crack the starting line up.)
  11. And he was JP's too (if Lee wasn't open). One thing I don't hear mentioned much is he seems to have the best awareness with regards to coming back to his QB when he's in trouble (scrambles) or holds the ball for longer than usual. ---------------- I'm starting to think the writing is on the wall that Hardy is going to start the year PUP, which may open a 6th WR(ST) slot for Jenkins. Bills Minicamp Wrap Up So: DiGiorgio is two months ahead of Hardy DiGiorgio probably will be ready to start participating by July 25th (start of TC) -->Hardy probably will be ready to start participating by late September Sure, these are general statements.... DiGiorgio could be ready by July 1st, and/or Hardy could be 6 weeks behind him. But, I think (reading between the lines) the Bills are not optimistic Hardy will be ready by the start of the season.
  12. He's a good choice for the annual roster cut suprise guess thread.
  13. That's exactly what I think. He'd be put on the PUP, not IR, but same difference. I think he's continued to develop each year and has promise. Right now he clearly contributes more than Hardy did when he was healthy. (Yeah I know about Hardy's TDs.)
  14. No doubt. I think she's due at least a three game suspension.
  15. Chuckny, So, who can do better than Reed? Who are you presuming got a lot better playing from the slot (without showing it on the field)? Parrish? Hardy? Johnson? Jenkins? ...Huggins? ...Beullar? Sorry, I'm out of guesses. You think Reed hasn't been an answer? You mean like a pro bowl WR answer? Well, um, yeah. I'd be fine with him playing like he did last year. I hear where you're coming from, and I wouldn't cut Hardy, Parrish or Johnson yet either. You know who I think they cut? Jenkins and the fullback, McIntyre, or someone else (and Huggins to the PS). Keeping 6 WRs isn't exactly unheard of.
  16. I think all six make the roster, and would be shocked to see any dropped or added to the PS (are Hardy or Johnson even eligible any more)? I think Jenkins will be the victim of the TO signing. I don't think he's PS eligible any more, but think he's worth a slot if so. Perhaps Felton Huggins is Jenkins v2.0....
  17. Actually, for years he was consistently behind Moulds in that category. Sam Aiken was also a willing and able blocker, but was never a good enough receiver that it mattered. I'm calling BS on the bolded part. I'm sure you could find an example of this happening (if you watched the games), but that is definitely atypical for Reed who has been willing to take defenders head-on. And OTAs, mini-camp, training camp and pre-season are exactly the time to see what "these other WRs can do." Do you really think Reed is stealing so much playing time from them it hurts the team and we should cut Reed now? (BTW- that's rhetorical.)
  18. Tim, What do you think is the biggest weakness/vulnerability of each of the teams in the AFC East?
  19. Huh? Sorry, i've seen the exact opposite. It seems like the draw up gimmacky plays for him that usually have him catch near or behind the line of scrimmage. They had a few memorable passes to him downfield last year, and he made some nice catches, but his problems seem to be 1) getting off the LOS cleanly 2) running crisp routes (gets pushed around and seems sloppy) and 3) having presence enough to come back to his QB when in trouble, and generally recognize what's happening elsewhere on the field. He's fast, quick, elusive, exciting, and largely inconsequential to our passing game. That said, I love having him as a Bill!
  20. Brady doesn't have to be the dominant player he was for the Pats* to keep winning, he just needs to be as good as Cassel was last year, something I fear will not be a problem for him at all.
  21. So, who was maintaining that Christmas-colored TSW Media-o-meter list that showed the consensus approval/disapproval of this board? It might need to be updated....
  22. Thanks for the update!
  23. Matt's 2009 TD predictions: WRs TO = 6 Lee = 7-8 J Reed = 2 Hardy = 0-1 S. Johnson = 1-2 Parrish = 2 (PR and/or gimmick play/s) RBs Lynch = 8 Jackson = 5 Rhodes = 3 (goal line) Trent running = 2 others = 0 TEs Nelson = 2 Fine = 1 others = 0 KR TDs = 2 Defensive TDs = 4 I thought this looked realistic, but at approx ~48 TDs, this may be too much improvement over our 35 TDs last year.
  24. While the key is over the top, I'm fine with Owens getting the media attention. Frankly, with a pretty young team we should be thrilled the media is focusing their attention here instead of asking Marshawn about his legal and league problems, Trent about his confidence and relationship with the coaches etc..
