  1. Have Spiller and Troup been named starters?
  2. I've thought all along that Felton is this year's Justin Jenkins, who is no longer Practice Squad eligible. I just checked the eligibility rules (linked/quoted below) to make sure there was no years-pro restriction when I saw FH came out of college in 2006. If he's a known quantity they like (and I think they do) who is dinged up and unlikely to play or play much in preseason, why not release him now and plan to sign him to the PS later? That's one less player they need to "sneak" to the PS in the late team cuts. And, it opens a roster spot to check out someone else. Here's the best write-up I found after a quick search: http://www.windycitygridiron.com/2009/9/9/...squad-explained
  3. I'm pretty sure this is the post Pilsner is referencing:
  4. I saw it before, but would love to see the exaplanation again. His names are the opposite of who is in charge or something they said (or similar). Bary Brady = ...? Pyrite Gal = opposite of "the golden boys" (Ralph and Marv) Fake Fat Sunny = opposite of Real Slim Shady Hplarrm = reverse of Mr Ralph
  5. Welcome back Bary Brady / Fake Fat Sunny / Pyrite Girl! I'm not even sure if you were gone or just posting briefly, infrequently under another "handle." I've missed your posts, even the very long ones. I just figured out that was you when I read your previous post and realized your name was "MR Ralph" backwards.
  6. I just returned from a two week vacation and saw this thread. Hopefully Lori's just taking some time off too. I have nothing new to add to the abundance of posts singing Lori's praises, but felt compelled to post in support of her. Lori's articles, posts and moderation would all be huge losses to TBD/TSW if she walked away. Edit: Aug 13 Article by Lori (Welcome back!): http://www.twobillsdrive.com/buffalo-bills...ameday-preview/
  7. No way was Tim the worst, though he likely is the Bill who spent the most time on the field facing the wrong direction (trying to push backwards into the pocket). It's not fair to bust on players who couldn't get playing time in this worst ever game. For Bills who got significant playing time I was going to sayu Chris Watson or Matt Stevens. Looking him up, I found this article about Matt Stevens saying he became a paraplegic in 2007, something I didn't know.
  8. 54? Yikes! .. (moment of silence)
  9. I'm so confused. So now it's next year I want the Bills to lose?
  10. You're either a troll or very very dim. If you read the 80+ responses to this thread you'd see very few people saying or implying that they know Trent is the answer. Without rereading myself the strongest I remember are comment along the lines of "there have been so many problems, let's see how Trent performs in a new system, with new coaches." I wanted the Bills to draft a QB. I also think your argument against him here is lame. The pushback you're getting is not a blanket defense of Trent, it's people actually engaging your stump of an argument. So, people have named some QBs where Trent has a stronger arm like you asked. We could also then add the other ~10 QB that have an arm like Trent's. Seeing that Trent is middle-of-the pack for arm strength do you want to say "see, based on that alone he can't be an NFL QB?" How does showing he's approximately average for an NFL starter on a single attribute show he can't be a starter? Why don't you want to acknowledge that can Trent physically throw well enough? (I provided a link showing him throw a couple 45 yard in the air TD passes.) Is that because that would mean it's physically possible for Trent to perform well with better coaching? What's so wrong with that? Since he has a very good shot at being our starting QB at the start of the season, you'd think you could muster up some energy to hope for him and the Bills, even while you have doubts. Why do you post here if you think all is hopeless? The conclusion I've come to is that you're a troll, happy to make others a little more miserable.
  11. I agree, and will add even if someone is decent at understanding O-line play, it's very hard to tell what's going wrong from a fan's perspective: is it the player's bad habits, poor conditioning, a bad position coach, attitude etc.. It this vein, I'll add Mike Gandy to the list. I was one who thought he looked incurably weak, but he seems to be doing fine for the Cardinals.
  12. We've seen Trent throw a number of deep passes. His problem is not that he can't throw them (weak arm), but rather that he doesn't throw them (decision-making). I agree with Kota's points that 1billsfan mocks (that Trent has a short throwing motion and quick release). Edit: Here's a link to a game (second one that comes up after Googling "Trent Edwards long pass"). In this one, TE has two passes to TO that travel 45+ yards in the air and are on target. http://www.nfl.com/videos/nfl-fantasy/09000d5d81435ea2
  13. I agree with the names I see so far. While I don't think they were the best, we should add: Marvcus Patton Marcellus Wiley London Fletcher Justin Bannan Antowain Smith Jim Leonard ...Ande Davis? (barely qualifies as ex-Bills) Honorarable mention: John Butler Personal vote for best is Pat Williams or Winfield.
  14. LAMP =Look At Me Post If I chimed in on this thread and said something like "I don't really care who starts at QB for the Bills, any of them will look great on my new 72 inch 3D television," that would be a look at me post.
  15. I hope you're right. Unfortunately, that great start (4-0) was September 2008 (21 months ago), which makes a retun to form seem a bit less likely.
  16. Do you mean no regular season downs for Levi ever? I agree this season is a very very low chance, but ever? Let me watch him in a preseason game or two and I'll let you know if I'd bet, say $10, on him.
  17. So, if Trent starts, who will be his favorite receiver? So far it clearly has not been Evans.
  18. In my opinion, he's doing what is necessary to keep getting his name published. He's trying to send up a clear signal to other teams that he'd like to be traded (as if they hadn't figured that out).
  19. I don't think the Bils even attmpted this last year. (Yes, I'm exaggerating to make a point.) I think their pass routes were buttonhooks at various places on the field. Seriously, I'm not sure any other team had as many passes to stationary receivers over the last 3 years.
  20. I'd second this. Someone else mentioned "fake fat sammy" which is of course a mis-remembered "Fake Fat Sunny", who was the same person. He was Barry Brady before that. Anyone know if he still posts? If so, his style has changed and I haven't figured out the new handle yet. The others mentioned (most of them) also deserve credit of course. I have no doubt the very first person on the TBD / TSW Wall of Fame should be Scott however.
  21. My point was meant to be absurd (which is why I flagged it as such). TDs as the end-all-be-all for assessing a player in any position does not really make sense. Talent getting first downs or TDs is indeed a valuable skill, but it's nowhere near the whole story when viewed in isolation. Yes, now we're getting somewhere. What are those things the rest of the team does to help win? Do the RBs do anything that helps the team win besides score TDs? Are receptions or blitz pick ups important? Here's a good rehash of the "and goal" stats (and more) I was referencing:Lynch-Goal Line Specialist? thread: So yes, I'll concede that Lynch scored TDs 5% more than Jackson when given "and goal" opportunities. And yes, perhaps the coaches gave him more opportunities because they thought he'd have a beter chance of scoring.
  22. <absurd>So how many points did Eric Wood score last year? Does that mean he has no value to the team, or less than whoever carries the ball over the goal line? Why stop with TD? Points only matter if they help you win the game. How many games did Lynch win for us? ...and field goals also score points. So according to the only stat that matters (OSTM), if a RB helps the team drive from their 2 yard line to the opponent's 2, and a different player scores a TD from there, then the other player is more important to the team. Brian Westbrook going down at the 1 yard line hurt his OSTM total and showed he was less valuable than if he racked up another TD? </absurd> Also, your defense of Lynch based on his opportunities to score (stats based on total carries) is weak. Over a season a players owns his number of opportunities. His number gets called based on what he's shown on the field and off ( suspensions). I do like normalizing the numbers to see if they (on average) perform differently in similar circumstances, but you're not doing that. The other poster (whenever that was) that posted the "and goal" stats showed the two were very close to each other as to how often they scored from outside the goal line. Do us all a favor and stop the name calling. Calling people retards, idiots etc. isn't helping anything, it just makes this a less pleasant place to spend time. Don't chase off the posters that have good points to make.
  23. I'll chime in: we don't have to tear down one RB to build up another. I agree the undervaluing Lynch is annoying and uncalled for. But, I think you are ridiculously hung up on the TD count. I'd be all for your comments if you simply chimed in with something like "Don't hate on Lynch, he's an asset to the team" or even "Lynch has a role to play and has a nose for the end zone." I'm working, so I don't have time to loook up stats, but I think Jackson was clearly the better RB last year and the end of the year before. He had better field vision and situational awareness. I suspect Jackson had a much higher percentage of throws to him caught and did more with them when he caught the ball. Still, I love Lynch's play and hope he keeps growing and improving. Goodness knows I wouldn't want him beating up our D.
  24. Sorry, I'm not usually like this, but would you please turn down the volume on the Lynch touchdown crusade? Wasn't your position pretty effectively debunked by the "__ and goal" TD percentage stats someone posted? (Similarly, people are collectively overdoing the Lynch = worthless crapola).
