  1. I agree we need a receiver, and expect us to ad one in the later rounds (4+). I think we should do this regardless of whether we add a FA vet, which is the logical choice for this year as our young guys continue to develop and/or bust. Given the time that it takes drafted receivers to mature, you need to keep putting some into the pipeline and we didn't add any last year. I'd say no to big and slow, or small and weak WRs. To be worth their roster spot, they need to challenge for and back up a ST position.
  2. This could be fun in a sad kind of way. Do we now guess the category? Was it "Far from the Top?"
  3. I'm more a lurker than a regular poster, but I always appreciate your input, Beerball. I'm thinking of you, worried for you and your family, and eager to hear more news of your recovery. If this turns out to be a trick to get everyone to buy you free beer next season, we'll all be very disapppointed
  4. I don't think Villarial belongs on that list. Sure, he got a lot softer at the end of his time, but that's because he was hurt, not because he was soft. I agree for the most part with your list; they played soft for their size, but some were 2nd/3rd string guys who just weren't very good. I'll add Matt Stevens to the list of ex-Bills that were soft. The guy looked like he wandered into training camp off the street and somehow landed the punt-catching job. Oh wait, that may be exactly what happened. He never looked like he belonged on the field and when he actually played some snaps on defense we were in trouble. Small, slow and weak.
  5. Thanks for this. I've never used a signature on TSW, but am adding this if it's okay with you.
  6. They weren't future Hall of Famers until they reached the Super Bowl with Levy. Bruce Smith is the only one I think was destined for the HoF regardless of what team/situation he landed in.
  7. What will cause me to renew my Sunday Ticket this year? Well, actually the great deal they signed me up to last year. This year DirecTV gave me Sunday Ticket HD w SuperFan for free (plus a couple other perks). In exchange I agreed to stay with DirecTV for the next two years. [As a quick comment/disclaimer: I really was considering changing to ATT U-Verse when I moved, not just calling to see how much I could get.] Also, since you asked for others' rationale, I'll give you what I would have used on myself to spring for Sunday Ticket again this year if the above hadn't happened. This year I watched at least the Bills game and the ShortCuts preview of our next opponent each week (a 30 minute snap-to-tackle replay of their previous game). Overall I watched less football than most years, but probably averaged 5 hours of DTV viewing per week. I rationalize the cost by translating the charge to an hourly rate: 16 (weeks) * 5 (hours) + 15 hours (preseason) = 95 hours, which comes out to about $3.50 per hour for entertainment, $1.75 if you factor in the discount I received. And most weeks I enjoy my time more than seeing a movie. (Some weeks are better than others!) Anyway, for me I guess it comes down to the fact that I regularly work hard and don't often spend money for myself. The money is not much of a factor compared to the entertainment. This is one of the few areas I splurge and don't get too hung up on it.
  8. I often watch DirecTV "Shortcuts" of games, which is most or all of the snaps from each game each week, condensed down to a :30 minutes showing of snap-to-whistle with all of the "fluff" removed. I think the main point of the OP is correct: there is relatively little action compared to the overall time watching the game. But, I have a hard time seeing how 11 minutes could be the correct total. About half of the "Shortcuts" I watch have one or more plays removed to fit in the time slot. I bet there's about 2-3 minutes of fluff in each showing including showing the title in the begining, stats after each quarter, and the refs calling important penalties. They do show a couple seconds after many plays where someone has run out of bounds or a pass bounces incomplete before the next snap. Still, I don't see how you could get down to 11 minutes without removing time when passes are in the air....
  9. So, the Eagles are out of the playoffs. Does that mean the Bills can still offer April the head coach job?
  10. I know you weren't talking to me, and I get the above. But what the heck does it have to do with the Bills or Byrd? Or is "snitches gets stitches" just a phrase you say every time you hear the word stitches? (Do you also say it every time you hear "snitches? )
  11. So what did it really mean when Grimm said the below (responding about interviewing with Buffalo)? "I don't know what the time schedule is on that," Grimm said. "I'm not really worried about it right now. I've got a few important things to take care of first." I don't know if Grimm would be a decent coach or not. I do know however that just floating his name out there is a good PR move with most Bill fans. ("Oh good, the Bills know the O-line is important and we want to win like some of the great teams of the past. I really thought they were just trying to find ways to lose.")

  13. Who will run the projection tackle-o-graph techno-thingie now? He's the only one who knew what the buttons on the side did....
  14. I'll check back and see if you reply to yourself. I'd like to know too. Thanks for the info!
  15. Out of the US. NFL.com shows the games live for free, just not to US IP addresses. Sorry. I suspect that's not the info you were looking for....
  16. I agree. Thanks. It persists in my memory because I never saw a retraction until now. I thought it was a bizarre quote.
  17. The NFL link I found seems to indicate the only way the Week 17 match can be chosen less than 12 days ahead (i.e. now) is to find one with playoff implications. Not sure if that's really a rule or a common-sense interpretation of why it might be chosen so late. NFL Flexible Scheduling
  18. I remember this clearly... but he said it about Jason Peters, not Schobel. I also remember BB praising Schobel a couple times.

  21. I agree with you about Evans. I'd love to see him play on a competent Bills offense. While I still think he has a good double move, the DBs don't bite on it so much without him getting as many passes as he used to. Also, there's no way I can say Evans has better double moves than DeSean Jackson who has torched oponents with his all year.
  22. BLOW OUT THE CHIEFS, AGAIN PLEASE, WHERE DOES EVERYONE ELSE STAND? Where do I stand? I'll be right in front of my seat or in the aisle for most of the game. I too want to see hope for next year. A loss to the Chiefs, even if it gives us a higher draft position, won't provide me any more hope. I hope the Bills play great, especially the offense and coaching. But at the same time, I won't be too disappointed if the Chiefs play even better and beat them.
  23. The forecast over the last 5 days has fluctuated from 25 to 43 degrees for the game. Checking right now, it's the highest I've seen: 47 degrees with 10 mph winds. ...sounds like a great game day! http://beta.weather.com/outlook/events/spo...1:20?dp=windsdp
  24. Suddenly, I feel like posting again!
