  1. What struck me about this list is how low Shaffer is. Does Prisco know what he's talking about?
  2. I thought it was interesting he gave Cincy as the first example of a small market that would struggle to compete. It seemed like he was making an excuse for them, and I thought there was no love lost when he left.
  3. I think this hurts the Bills. Instead of being one of the few teams with cap space, every team will have space when a new deal is reached and the cap turns out to be $5 M higher than it is now. And this will improve the overall health of the league for years to come.
  4. If you say so, I'll give you your due. The first link says that "I don't know if he's a good fit considering the Bills needs, but I've always been a best athlete available man." The second link was a response to a hypothetical where Ngata is off the board. But you are consistent with your best available approach. I think it's important, though, to distinguish between the only-the-lines people on this board and the anything-but-another-receiver people.
  5. Honestly, Herr Doctor, weren't you focused on the lines a week ago - before the Davis hype started? It's not just that this board, by and large, thinks we need to invest in the lines, it's also that the last thing we need is to throw our top pick to the receiving corps for the third straight year!!! That's Millen territory - and should remain Millen territory. And Davis essentially is a receiver, since no one seems to be talking up his blocking abilities. Not only do we need help on the lines, but we also need general depth in our defense. We have spent two picks on defense the past two years - a 3rd and a 5th. That should be our focus. The only way I could see justifying that piece is to succeed in free agency, get a compensatory 3rd or 4th, and drop a pick or two for Davis and pick up another first day pick. This was a 5-11 team last year. We're not a player away.
  6. New England was already a Superbowl champion when they did that. Of course it doesn't hurt to have two great TE's, but that's a luxury on a team that can't afford it.
  7. My brother was in a philosophy class with him - says he's really bright.
  8. Only 1000 yards? Compared to Moulds' 816, that looks pretty good. And he had Trent Dilfer and Charlie Frye throwing to him - without a #2 as good as Evans. Yeah, I'm impressed. I thought he would cost much more, but if you say he can be had for $2-3 million a year, where do I sign? He was 19th in the league in receiving yards this year. Of the 18 ahead of him, only Larry Fitzgerald was younger. Good point!!! Cap numbers are one thing. The amount of money Ralph Wilson hands out will also be factored into the decision. There's a difference between salary cap fantasy dollars and actual dollars Ralph hands out - and he probably only has so many of them.
  9. He won in Knoxville. At Vandy, Cutler will be remembered as nothing but a winner.
  10. One month ago, what odds would you have given me on some people on this board advocating a WR with our first pick? This is incredible.
  11. If this article is accurate, it's interesting that they would invest so much in Moulds' replacement. Givens and Bryant are two of the top 3 WR FA's and will get big contracts.
  12. If your DT is running 40 yards, something went horribly wrong. Did he weigh in at 360? I thought he was 340. Shouldn't combine weights be accurate?
  13. How quickly this board forgets the need to address the line. It's almost as if Davis just did a spread in Playboy.
  14. He was 9th on Kiper's board pre-combine. How far could he have moved up? He already would've been considered a 5-10 pick depending on need.
  15. Bruce's is just gonna be covers. And how could you not like Devils and Dust?
  16. Interesting you bring up sitting out the playoff game with the questionable injury...doesn't this prove Abraham was right to do that? The Jets aren't interested in giving him the long-term contract he deserves that can set him financially for the rest of his career. Why should he risk his future for a team that won't invest in him? You can talk about honor and pride and all that, but it's much more comfortable to throw out those notions from yourcouch - not as easy when you go out and risk your career every Sunday.
  17. It could very well be correct with Nate currently eating up $6 million. If we sign him long term, that number will go down. If we trade him away, that number will disappear.
  18. Woody and Klemm aren't there. Watson and Graham don't play on the line. The only one of their starting OLs drafted in the top 100 is Mankins, and he was 32. Just because we need line help doesn't mean we don't also need QB help.
  19. ESPN Insider has a teaser about the Jets releasing Pennington.
  20. If people have such deeply-ingrained preconceived notions of what a mock draft should look like two months before the actual draft that they think someone has to be using mind-altering substances to think that a player will go 4th instead of 9th, then they'd better put down the keyboard and step away from the computer.
  21. We can't sign a 31-year-old who's coming off a career year who everyone saw play well in the playoffs. His value right now is higher than ever. We can never catch up to the Seattles of the NFL if we continuously sign for a lot of money whom they paid very little to get. And anytime someone on this board brings up and underachiever or someone who has been injured, he gets lambasted. But that is exactly who we need to focus on - those whose price tag is lower than their value. I'll be the first to admit I don't know who that is. I hope OBD has some better ideas than TBD.
  22. Every player should get what they can. if somebody is willing to pay them more than they are worth, they should take it. The Bills may be nuts to pay him that much, but some other team will, and Shannon is telling him to go to that team.
  23. You're saying he doesn't have to get paid?
