  1. What does the new CBA have to say about reusing the franchise tag? I think if we want to trade him, we have to do it now.
  2. Good point. I think our 2003 draft would've been much better received if we took Kelsay in the first and McGahee in the second.
  3. We did last year, and our receivers only got better. Plus, I think Fairchild's offense calls for a lot of 3, 4, and 5-wide spreads. Hey Lurker, can you help us out and post the Scouts, Inc. rankings for all our draftees? Thanks.
  4. He gave us the lowest grade of anyone.
  5. But are the experts wrong anymore than the teams are? If San Diego didn't pick Leaf at 2, I bet everyone else would've been lining up to take him.
  6. Only 3 C's, 1 D, and 1 F. Very generous grades.
  7. Yes, every so often someone comes to this board and bestows his wisdom on the minions and tells us that since our knowledge pales in comparison to those in the ivory tower at OBD, we have no right to question them. Of course, that's the whole point of this board. Or better yet, lets wait till opening day, see how these kids do, and then I'll decide whether or not to spend $800 on season tickets. All of your picks slipped for one reason or another. The only ones to rise much higher than expected were our picks. And I don't think being off with Mario by one spot is a huge difference.
  8. How does showing we used the 8th pick on the 20th value in any way make things better?
  9. I think the accuracy of the draft "gurus" this year goes a long way to singling out Levy and Co. as problems. If Kiper and the bunch picked drafts that were far off, that would be one thing. But generally speaking, the mock drafts were close to what happened - with a few notable exceptions, such as Whitner and McCargo. And that is what gives us the right to be pissed off.
  10. Did we sign Fowler to be our starter?
  11. What does the rest of the article say?
  12. There are also four DT's listed as the best picks. Plus, I would consider Casey Hampton (considering where he was drafted) the Steelers best pick and Courtney Brown Cleveland's worst.
  13. Just because he didn't do it singlehandedly doesn't mean he didn't devastate the Jets. Same could be said about Mike Williams and Tom Donahoe. And if the Jets and their new Belichik-protege coach are willing to use their first rounder on a DT, that says all you need to know about Robertson.
  14. The Jets were a playoff team that used an extra 1st to trade up to get Robertson. Three years down the road, they earned the 4 spot on their own. You're telling me that didn't devastate them?
  15. Seriously, Robertson was fourth overall a couple of years ago. He's been disappointing, but wow! This is worse than Mike Williams. edit: three years ago
  16. I think they traded the 22nd pick to SF for their 2nd and 3rd rounders, meaning Denver now holds a high 2nd.
  17. So according to the article, there are a million women out there who watch the draft. Where are they?
  18. He might not even start for his own team next year.
  19. Not so familiar with Quinn. Which NFLer does he best compare to?
  20. Yeah, that sentence seems to imply that they would look at Huff as Clements' replacement where I think we've generally assumed Huff would be Milloy or Vincent's replacement.
  21. Where were the Pats in revenue before this run? Surely not in the top 3.
  22. Simply - Huff, Ngata and Culter are the wildcards. It is easily possible that any of them go 4,5,6,7. Most likely scenario I think is that Oakland takes Huff at 7 with Young off the board, pushing Davis down to us.
  23. Todd McShay just finished a chat on ESPN. I think the most interesting thing he had to say was that he thinks New Orleans really likes Hawk at two but would want to drop to 4 and take him there. The Jets haven't yet made a reasonable offer. That's the first I've heard of the Saints going for Hawk. He also says there's no way Brick falls to us. But I'm getting a little lost. Say Hawk is top four, and the other top four are Bush, Leinart, and Young. He said that Ngata and Davis will probably go before us, leaving either Mario or Brick at 8, right?
  24. If Favre is willing to play in Denver, it makes sense to me. The biggest drawback would be Plummer's ability to lead a team (as opposed to Denver, where je's just supposed to not screw up).
  25. First, Bill Gates was named Time's Man of the Year for his charity work. he has created the largest foundation in history. Second, you have no idea what you would do. It's totally different when you worked to earn that money yourself than in some hypothetical in which you wake up a billionaire. Greedy is relative. If they weren't greedy, they probably wouldn't have gotten where they are now.
