  1. We need to validate with what we got with EJ. I don't think that he's the answer but I know who's not!
  2. That's my point. At least we know that we got a proven QB instead of hoping a guy will work out.
  3. There's not a lot of options out there for us and I don't want Orton, that's for sure, I've seen enough of that clown. Btw, that last interception, his WR didn't help him any.
  4. No, I get it. I think that the best thing that Sanchez could have done he did and that was to go to Philly as a back-up under the tutelage of a innovative coach like Chip Kelly. I totally agree with all that you said. I remember thinking who the hell is this Rich Gannon??! People and things can change and I'm starting to think that this Sanchez might have taken a quantum leap since the Jets. We don't need a Montana or a Marino, just a guy who can throw down the field a little bit and has some mobility. Also I don't know if Orton can't or won't throw down the field, all Zi know is that he doesn't and I'm sick and tired of waiting for him to. The guy can't even throw a little out route without throwing it in the dirt or behind the WR. I say save the 5+ M that we have to pay him next year and spend it somewheres else.
  5. So far what I have seen in a small window is a guy who was making every kind of throw. He put air under it when he had to, put it on his WRs at other times and most of all he was throwing it down the field. I never was a player for him but I think that I'm starting to change my mind about him, he's the kind of QB that we need. He's got experience, has played in our division and displays growth imo. If the Eagles don't get him under contract then I'd be openminded to him. He would be at a reasonable cost, he's more than just a game manager and even has been to the play-offs a couple of times. When was the last time we had a QB that we could say that about and imo Orton doesn't count, the guy is terrible and has regressed. On top of all that we would have more salary cap room with a QB like him so we could have more money and a better shot of re-signing some of our FAs, Hughes in particular. Just saying.....
  6. The couple of times that I saw him this year the guy looks like a totally different player. The guy is mobile, throws a nice ball and looks totally invigorated in Chip Kelly's offense.
  7. As far as I know Schefter has been reliable and if this is anywheres accurate then this would be a first in trading a player. This was reported on Bleacher Report and I'm not allowed to paste the link but here is what was said. 1 hr · Several NFL executives believe that it’s possible for Bears QB Jay Cutler to go from being benched to becoming a first-scenario, test-case trade. Never before has a team trading a player also had to give up drat-pick compensation to get rid of him. But some NFL executives believe that with any team having to absorb $25.5 million worth of guarantees in Cutler’s contract, the Bears might have to package a decent draft pick to get another team to take him. NFL rules dictate that nominal compensation must be exchanged between teams, but it could mean another team surrendering a late-round pick to Chicago for Cutler and a better pick. Such a scenario could enrage Bears fans, but to get a team to take on so much guaranteed money that could be used on valuable free agents and contract extensions, the Bears just might have to compensate a team with more than Cutler to do it.
  8. I know, it probably would! Lol! The visual is killing me!
  9. IF the Bills were to acquire Cutler it wouldn't be EJ that would be sent packing, it would be Orton and I say thank God for that! I can't believe that we would have to pay this clown 5.4 M next year to have him throw into the dirt! Good thing that it's a voidable year, good riddance!
  10. Omg Gordio I can't stop laughing over this, that is freaking hysterical! Hahahahahaha!!! I missed that post but that is absolutely priceless, one of the funniest things that I have ever read! Do you remember who and when someone posted that??! I would love to pull it up and read it! That's great stuff! Lol!
  11. I agree! The next contract Hughs signs is going to be huge. I fully expect it to be at least 7-9 M per year. Anything less would be a steal.
  12. He won't and he shouldn't. The guy has done everything asked of him and then some. I love the guy but he needs to get paid. I'll miss him but I have no problem with him cashing in, he deserves it. I agree that Hughs may not be the biggest Marrone fan and getting benched for almost a half probably doesn't sit too well with him. He may like Schwartz and his defense but there's no guarantee that even Schwartz will be around here next year. I'm afraid that Hughs will be much like Byrd, love to keep him but can't afford to pay him for what he probably is looking for. I learned from that Byrd thing and that is I'm not going to be bitter and hold it against the Bills for not re-signing him. I think that they did drop the ball for not locking him up sooner but in the end Byrd didn't want to be here and wanted to get paid. I noticed with Hughs is that he sure is proud of being a Horned Frog but I never hear him speaking on being a Bill. It's a business and there shouldn't be anything taken personal if he decides to go elsewhere. I will say that because our defense played so dominately and we still would have great players on it that other FA players may reconsider playing here. Unfortunately you can't have everyone so I'd like to see the Bills lock up Dareus and Gilmore. I would also like for us to find a way to keep Spiller but unfortunately that may not come to fruition and that's too bad because I believe that the guy is a true Bill.
  13. I think that's more of what I was thinking. Nice job on the homework! Very interesting!
  14. Then I stand corrected. I was under the belief that Ralph signed off on the Kelly acquisition.
  15. Sorry but I'm not qualified to answer that due to the fact that I don't watch college football. I will say that the little that I know about him is that he strikes me as immature and a hot dog and doesn't seem like a good fit. Like I said though I'm not qualified.
  16. I started a thread about obtaining Brees to mixed results. Regardless if it's logical or illogical, I fully expect the Bills to go out and do whatever it takes to secure a quality QB. Terry Pegula has the opportunity to put his thumbprint on this franchise and start his own legacy as owne. One of Mr. Wilson's greatest moves as a owner was to give his blessing to Polian to draft Jim Kelly. Pegula now has the chance to do the same thing and add the most important piece to this team. Let it be Brees or whoever, I stand by my thinking that we can and should defer the compensation that we gave up for Sammy and use our 2016 1st Rd pick to help facilitate a trade for a quality QB.
  17. I haven't read this whole thread but wanted to weigh in just the same. The one thing that I can say about Cutler is that at least he'll throw down the field, regardless of which team he throws it to. I'm so sick and tired of these dink and dunk passes that we can't even complete. It's like watching Trent Edwards all over again.
  18. What a great Insight and I haven't even read the last 2 pages of this thread yet! Job well done sir!
  19. Then you realize that the Saints have 7 current players that account for approximately 95 M towards the 2016 salary cap. Next year's cap is projected to be around 140 M, which Brees (26.4 M) and Byrd (10.5) are coming off of fresh deal. Granted a lot of these contracts will get restructured, they have to, but to say that they have a wee bit of a problem would be a huge understatement. Keep in mind that there has been some rumblings since their Super Bowl victory that Payton is looking to fly the coop. Needless to say that in the aftermath of this season's play at QB that Buffalo should be more than willing to pay a pretty penny for the quality of QB that Brees is. Everything has a price and this could solve some serious problems for the Saints' organization. It doesn't hurt that Marrone was the OC the first 3 years that Brees was there so I wouldn't expect Marrone to object to this type of trade. I say trade 1 Boilmamer QB for another!
  20. I say yes! Keep on deferring our 1st Rd pick until we get it right. It's time to cash in on this defense!
  21. Wow, how eloquently stated is this response??! VERY! Darryl Talley is my favorite player, always has been, always will be by a landslide. Not because he played football but because of the way he played football, the way he cared about this franchise, community and fanbase. The Talleys aren't asking for a handout, Darryl simply just spoke out about the NFL is dealing with former players and it's lacking severely. Through football I discovered a man that I admire. Darryl is a stand up guy and someone I look up to. The qualities that I see in him is qualities that I believe in. Is he a saint? No, I'm sure he's not but I'm not judging him, I have no right. As far as the money he made and should he be a recipient of cash donations? Well, that's for each of us to decide but I don't care about how much money he made, I care about him. The man is struggling, he's struggling mentally and that is the tragic part of this whole thing and it's a direct result of playing football. Him and many other former players deserve to be provided better for mentally, psychologically and financially and the NFL is stepping in the right direction but still lacking dramatically. I'm proud of this fanbase, I don't off of this. The people of WNY are passionate, genuine loyal people who have their priorities intact as far as I'm concerned. If you don't want to contribute I respect that, that's your priority but being humane and compassionate to an individual is admirable. Money was never an issue with either the Talleys or the contributors, it was genuinely heartfelt and that touches me deeply so yes I'm very proud of this fan base but maybe I should have been more politically correct and just have said the people of WNY. Bottom line is that this isn't really about the Talleys, football or the Buffalo Bills. It's about the kind of people who reside in the region I come from. If I had to pick an individual person who represents what I'm speaking of, do you know who that would be? It would be YOU! With all the things going on in this fundraiser, the pros and cons, I'm afraid that this genuine, compassionate act that you initiated has gotten lost in the shuffle. You sir are the kind of person that puts a name or a face to the type of people that this great traditional region bears and I thank you for it. God Bless you!
  22. This isn't an understatement, I say it very sincerely. This whole fundraiser for Darryl Talley is heartwarming. There hasn't been a better Bill than him I have ever seen and I have been a diehard for 40+ years. If you haven't donated then please do and if you have then please give more. We can keep this thing going and accomplish something that has been unpresedented. Give what you can for a son that gave all that he had. I'm so proud of this fanbase, you people have already shown who you are and demonstrated what is so much more important than what happens on a field. May God Bless each and everyone of you for your tremendous heart, loyalty, love and dedication to a man who gave all that he had and now his Bills' family can show him how much we love and think of him. Thank you all, you have so richly reminded me of who I am, where I come from and who and where I want to be. Go Bills and a HUGE go Bills' fans!
  23. Yeah, well I started a post advocating for Buffalo to get him, especially if we're stuck with Orton. Seeing that he coached him before and that he was an apprentice of Belichick and being in our own division I believe that McDaniels would be a great hire. This Marrone has got to go, he's such a buzz killer. Our defense flies around, which I believe is because of Schwartz not Marrone and our offense is a joke. We need new blood and young blood to get some energy going.
  24. In another thread I advocated for Jon Gruden so we could have some offensive firepower while we have a few talented players on that side of the ball. The more I think about it I would like to amend that suggestion with Josh McDaniels. The guy is young and innovative, has worked with Orton before and has been mentored by arguably the greatest coach of all time. Furthermore who else knows Belichick, Brady and the Patriots better than him?!
