They aren't remotely comparable. Plus they were very down on Collins when they traded him. The list of guys the Pats have kept is long, starting with Brady.
The Bills and Browns have 6 picks each (12 total!) in the first three rounds. Plus the Bills might end up with a seventh if they get that compensatory third.
I see your and dog's point, but basically, the Bills gave up a ton of draft capital in a draft related move. Technically, it wasn't a "trade up" on draft day, but practically speaking, it was.
... And neither McDemott nor Beane drafted them. Christ, McDermott was in Philly when Newton was drafted. Smith was drafted ages ago anyway, and long before either Beane or McDermott were there. Plus they let Norman and Smith go while they were still good!
No offense, man, but I relish the day when I can pull this post up after Watkins has an 85 catch / 1400 yard / 12 td season. If he remains healthy ( and he is healthy now), that's easily in range.
Stupid trades (and they have to be looked at in combination). We're looking at years of JauronBall where character is prioritized at the expense of talent and the Bills squeak to 6-10 with "good guys who play the game right."
Jerry Sullivan supports the trade. His knowledge of football is extremely weak to the point of being embarrassing. Nuff said. These are bad trades, and when you see McDermott DCing under Andy Reid 25 or 37 months from now on opening weekend, we'll know for sure.
If they're that concerned, the info would have made its way to the Rams. The Rams aren't giving up a second for damaged goods. The Bills showcased him in practice and last night. That's all the Rams needed to see. My guess is that he's basically 100 percent right now. We shall see. Never assume that the Bills are making the right move in dealings with other teams. I'd say they get it right one out of every four-five times.
It's not, of course.
My favorite is the from Aaron Schatz at FO: https://twitter.com/FO_ASchatz/status/896054550737506304?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw&ref_url=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.newyorkupstate.com%2Fbuffalo-bills%2Findex.ssf%2F2017%2F08%2Fnational_media_reacts_to_buffalo_bills_trading_sammy_watkins_ronald_darby.html .
