  1. (a) Why in hell am I catching shrapnel? This is my first post in this thread. (b) I could fill a page with uncomplimentary adjectives that describe Tom, but "idiot" isn't one. (Except when I'm right and he's wrong.) © Based on you being you and not having read the link or case, I am certain that you're wrong.
  2. I don't miss him but he played well and I'll be glad to have him back in 2010. Yes, I'd rather that they drafted OL, DL etc. than him but whatever. At least he's good.
  3. Here's an anti-soda commercial that's generating come controversy in NYC. http://consumerist.com/2009/12/nyc-anti-so...ass-of-fat.html
  4. Dwight Drane laughs.
  5. I didn't call you horrible but thanks for showing that you are.
  6. Minus the funny. He's got a predictable legion of people "in on it" too if you notice. Notable among his cadre, justnzane. Yawn.
  7. I didn't even like the guy and I won't stand in judgment of his suicide. He killed himself. It's sad that someone would feel that way about life but it was obvious he was down that road from reading his posts. He was mired in a dark doom and gloom. What little emotion I can muster about it is sadness, not for him because I didn't know him that well, but just generally because it's sad someone could be so catastrophically sad. Maybe dev/null knew him really well and can make his judgments based on their personal relationship.
  8. Normalize his behavior? Having cheesy fun with interns is abnormal? You aren't funny or even interesting.
  9. Only the Bills could make their fans suffer the debate of who's better: Fitz or Edwards. Stop the madness. Who cares? They both suck. Fitz is playing with more moxy and heart but has less ability. Trent is a beaten man with a team that has given up on him. I could care less and don't care if either one is here next year.
  10. 17 year old male student = parents are !@#$s.
  11. Enjoy your threesome with JP and Trent.
  12. The PSATs are calling and want your Reading Comprehension skill retested.
  13. Yeah because mall employees are recruited just like college athletes. Great analogy. Coaching Notre Dame is like coaching the Redskins. You'll make a lot of money but your team will always suck. In the end, you will disappoint the fans and get fired.
  14. Douche of the year.
  15. You mean national debt. Have no fear. And it won't take 4 terms. One will do fine. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/National_debt...sidential_terms
  16. White people love white people. Go to any game in the NFL. Jerseys are always disproportionately slanted to the lower-talented Wayne Chrebets of the world.
  17. Marriage isn't always about protection. Some people like the formal commitment--also, there are a zillion laws constructed around marriage that you don't get the protection of unless you are. Sometimes, but wills get set aside all the time for errors and when they do, the default inheritance and rights (like to raise children) usually goes to spouse, then relatives. A homosexual non-married (because of the law) survivor could lose their child and inheritance because of this stupidity. They could also lose the rights to have a say in medical treatment for their ill spouse. It makes no sense. Welcome to your world, but not America. We don't "charge" for people operating off the norm. Do you even think before you write? Not the government's job; yes you are. Once you and your ilk are dead, this issue will go away because the next generation will be ashamed of your behavior and right your wrongs.
  18. Sometimes that's what it boils down to, doesn't it? Back to EII's argument, just in case he's not as much of an idiot as we give him credit for: Marriage is also a secular institution with secular legal meaning. If you want to call unions "unions" under law and not marraige, I don't care. Then the Catholics can "marry" only men and women. And the Episcopaleans can marry any two adults. And on and on. The point of the fight over "marriage" the word is that it carries with it certain legal status and rights taht are denied same-sex couples. Why should my gay neighbors, now together for 38 years (!) have to worry about who their property passes to when one of them dies? Why shouldn't they share benefits?
  19. I would debate this but I leave it to DeLappele John or whateverthe!@#$ his name is.
  20. You're our version of them.
  21. I thought you were writing to Steely Dan's cat with the tapping paw, but his avatar says that he's a 13 year old boy hoping for that first hint of pubic hair. (Steely probably didn't deserve to get hit with that shrapnel.)
  22. I've told this story before but it's worth retelling. In 2004, a friend of ours worked for the Kerry campaign. On election night, she was travelling and listening to NPR's election coverage. She called us up proud that it looked like Kerry was going to win...my wife laughed at her and told her that every network had already called the election for Bush. NPR is absurdly liberal. I like the station because they dive deep on stories but it's still liberal. And Terry Gross is the 2nd best interviewer alive (behind Howard Stern).
  23. Often true but few DEs have any impact in their first year or two.
  24. I have no real problem with Maybin. He was a bad pick because the Bills didn't need a project but since they drafted a project, as a fan, I have to treat him like a project. I expect something from him next year. My problem is with the coaches. If you know the guy can't be a DE right now because he's not got the strength, let him work in occasionally from the LB spot on pass-rushing downs. Basically, use the kid where his gifts work for now, letting him line up as a down lineman only once in a while. I reserve all judgment on Maybin until next year, when I expect him to start making more plays and progress.
  25. No, we can count all the cultures that have no marriage or promote teen marriage between adults and children or polygamy for long stretches of history if you want to advocate for them.
