Everyone at Hospital Hates Wes Welker

Most credible source cited on this board in the last two weeks! -
I remember Americans coming together to support their president, and they would have done so no matter who it was.

Players make the coach, not the other way around

On his way out the door in the season he went 11-5 with Drew at the helm most of the way. Yeah. Not likely. -

Bill Belichek would make any team better. Bet the farm on that. -
Looking more like Billick everyday
John Adams replied to VABills's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
What's odd is that a SB coach wants to come to Buffalo and the Bills don't want him. Or maybe that's not odd. I don't love Billick but he could turn around the attitude (from a loser's to a winner's) and toughness (from soft to hard). At the very least, he can put the Bills back on track to something. At least interview the guy. -

Buy health insurance or go to jail. Use roads or don't. Almost the same thing. -
In theory, it's easy to trust the government to be efficient.

What you and others may fail to "get" about movies that Cameron and Speilberg make is their ability to pique a sense of wonder. I love Tarantino movies. I love Scorsese movies. But they are in different genres. I can appreciate all 4 of those direcotrs. It's fun to be in the "cool" club appreciating Cohn brothers and other black comedies and dramas--but it's also perfectly OK to step into a movie like ET and just enjoy it.

But here's the thing: There's an art to writing popular things. You can hate Michael Jackson but the guy had a certain genius for music. And Stephen King has a certain genius for story-telling. And Cameron has a certain genius for movies. With 2 of his movies making 3 billion dollars and growing, some part of his genius should be hard for anyone to deny. Throw stones at Titanic as a POS not worthy of its 2B revenues but you know what: A shitload of people saw that movie and liked it...even if it's chic to now say it is terrible.

The truth is that a determined terrorist won't be deterred by dogs, technology, or an army. To take an example from the book Superfreakonomics, I assume you remember the DC sniper and the havoc that raised. Now picture 50 terrorists let loose in the US with Chevy Novas and rifles, driving all over the country picking people off. It's not hard for a terrorist (or group of them) to turn the US topsy turvy.

Spending a ton of money to not fix a problem--but say it's fixed--is what you vote for year after year. Anyone get fired for the Underpants Bomber yet? More of what you vote for yearly.

Sorry to Harsh John Adam's Mellow...
John Adams replied to Fastback's topic in Politics, Polls, and Pundits
A lower dollar is a much bigger problem than a higher one. Sure, it helps American manufacture a little but weakening our currency and encouraging the world to look for better places to put their currency is not a good thing for the US. -

If you didn't read the article, I don't fault you but she wasn't advocating a mindless--as in uncritical--optimism. She was advocating being optimistic because it can help--but combining that optimism with some serious (stoical in the article's parlance) reflection on the country's mission. So how can we--you and me--be optimistic in view of the political machine? We can buck off our chains whenever we want. We need to vote out the powers that be. It's possible and that's my optimism. It's hard and that's my stoicism. Her closing quote. -

I like the new law that everyone will be forced to buy health insurance even if they don't want it. Talk about constitutional issues! -

I fail to see how you like this approach AND also like the government's taking Gates's money. This is the problem. If Gates is worth 30B, he's not leaving 30B to chairty, where it would do a lot of good. He's leaving 20B to charity. The other 10 is going to the government where it will put gas in someone at the dept of transportation's Chevy, build a missile, buy paper, etc. The money is his. He paid taxes in the range of 50% on it already. Why should him ceasing breathing entitle the government to dispose of his property when he could give it all to charity? Or none to charity? Imagine that when you Zazie die, all you have as an asset is a family home where your kids grew up and have all their memories of groiwng up. You can't give that to your kids though, without giving them a bill to pay the 30% estate taxes on the house. Poof, away goes your family home. The estate tax is a money grab, effectively taxing the money you earned and saved in your lifetime at your tax rate as you earned it (say 35%) and another 30% on top of it. It's abhorrent.

You've read enough of my posts to know I don't believe in prayer but you think I believe "politicians have the intestinal fortitude to do what is right and in the nations long term best interests." Is that you Dwight? I know it is. Come clean. -
Glazer reporting entire staff dismissed
John Adams replied to ILoveBFLO's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
"Clean out your office and leave the building" means "There's a chance we'll invite you back but that's the next coach's decision." The Bills can say they didn't fire anyone but everyone in the coaching ranks knows the story. The next guy makes the decisions on their future. -

I was afraid to google that date for fear of what this latest conspiracy was all about.
