  1. Why not call it a marriage? Just because some religions don't recognize them? What about the many religions that do recognize gay marriages? Why would the state short-change them?
  2. Do I take it from your support for this article in this thread that you would argue "Homosexuals shouldn't be able to marry because they may divorce at a higher rate."
  3. I'll play along and make these assumptions in your favor: (1) Homosexual couples' rates of commitment will not rise as they are moved out of the closet. (2) Your article's links are all 100% accurate. So, even if those assumptions are correct, what gives the government the right to prohibit two same-sex adults from contacting into a marriage? The answer is still "nothing." Your answer is "I don't like it so the government should intrude." Well played Mr. Conservative-when-it-suits-you.
  4. Yes, that's what I meant. It's hard to put together a coaching resume with this team. His defense has played well at times this season. Like I said, I am OK with him staying as HC if the top guys aren't available. I'd rather keep him as head coach than take a flyer on some untested OC.
  5. RE: Crusades. That other guy was an an anti-anti-Bell crusade and should be banned. RE: Maybin. Tonight was the first game he showed up for. He's always been a project so just let me see more progress in the project this yer and I'll be happy. RE: O-Liine. Almost a whatever. They were so bad that I don't know what to say. The direct snap to Jackson was almost a funny play as the entire Jets line arrived at Freddy about half a second after the ball got to him. RE: TO. Have a nice end-of-career elsewhere. Inconsistent effort. The last INT was a lousy throw but TO did nothing to help Fitz out there. He's got to do more, especially on the game winning drive. RE: Evans. He actually came to play last night. Besides a good block on the TD, I saw him block well on a few other plays. Also worked hard to get open. RE: Coaching. Fewell is only the answer to the Bills if the top guys aren't available. He's OK. The team tries hard for him. I didn't think he got outcoached today. More like out-talented.
  6. It's harder to not eat the egg roll but guess what: The person still has to drive to the restaurant, make his mouth sound out the order, and push the food in his mouth. There is lots of room for free will and choice. People love to blame someone outside themselves for their problems but in the end, the mirror is nicely suited to show who's to blame. It takes willpower for me not to eat ****ty foods. Welcome to life.
  7. Eating Ho Hos and fettuccine alfredo never made anyone black. Almost every fat person got fat due to their own choices, despite certain genetic proclivities. That's exactly what they should have. I've been in seats where the fat !@#$ next to me rested their side flab on my thigh. !@#$ that. Pay for the extra seat. I paid for mine--not yours.
  8. If Adam and Steve marry, how does that infringe your right to marry? (cricket, cricket)
  9. And many religions would (and do) provide marriages to same sex couples.
  10. To overcome this serious problem, Obama appointed a Fat F*** Czar who just mandated the creation of Fat F** Air.
  11. Except, even if you call it a "legal partnership" and perhaps gain the rights, what in the hell is a legislature doing defining a single word as not being able to be used in public discourse? This is in effect what you propose by "just calling it a legal partnership." All you're in effect doing is adding a new box to a whole bunch of forms and "tsk, tsk"ing when someone says two dudes are "married." Could anything be more stupid for the legislature to do? Also, and I as a crafty lawyer like to think like this, I could easily make an argument that because two people are in a "legal partnership" and two others are "married" in the eyes of the law, the legislature must have intended different rights attach to one or the other. Imagine an adoption case or custody battle. "Your honor, the legislature created a division when it created to two classes of partnership. One is different from the other and frankly, one is preferred...etc." It's marriage. Once enough of the boomers die/leave legislatures, marriage will be Adam and Eve AND Adam and Steve. The fights are rising now because the tide is turning: It just hasn't completely turned yet. These early losses will look silly in 10-15 years when only some outlier state like Alabama has same sex marriage prohibitions.
  12. Even with me editing out half your statement, you still managed a few stupid things. I appreciate your pithy idiocy. Less intrusive Republicans. That's awesome. Weren't you just in the homo's wedding party in the other thread? (Damn me for feeding the troll.)
  13. Bill and I are actually friends, on here and even in the thing called real life. It's kind of unbelievable but I'm thankful for it. He's always coming over for smokes at the gym.
  14. As if it matters whether it's genetic or a choice. Why restrict the rights of two adults to marry? What gives the government the right to restrict people's rights to so marry? Yea, that's right: nothing. Except that it bothers you.
  15. "Offending people?" Jesus H. If you take up 2 seats, you pay for 2 seats. The end.
  16. I should have framed the question as whether it was worth it to spend a gazillion dollars and lives to achieve whatever they will look like in 20 years. I have no faith that Iraq can effectively resist Iran's aggression once we leave. Afghanistan is less of a country than a region. You know more about it than me but I've read about it too. Bringing order to the "country" of Afghanistan is a dumb goal. The goal that might work is to provide regional bits of infrastructure like schools and medical facilities. Even giving those things doesn't mean that they won't fall into disrepair and disuse at our departure--or won't just be taken over by some regional interest. Both endeavors are pouring American money and blood into sand/rocks.
  17. Since he said he'd be bringing troops home during the campaign and now is sending more, don't expect it to come true. I can't believe we're 40 years from Vietnam, making perhaps dumber mistakes (with fewer deaths admittedly). Idiots. Raise your hand if you think Iraq and Afghanistan will be better off in 20 years than they were 8 years ago.
  18. In 11 games. That following a 60% 17TD season. He was still growing. Trent threw for 11 TDs last year in 14 games, his high. And 2700 yards, also his high. Then came this year which has been a complete and total disaster. Fitz is the backup. Trent is gone.
  19. Silly me, I like seeing police in public. And I like seeing police cars out on the road. Push them into an office and you minimize their preventative effect. As usual, your social engineering skills are off.
  20. Here are my thoughts Voters Continue to Trust GOP More on Most Top Issues --scares me Sarah Palin: Going Rogue, Getting Even --stupid Most Americans Prefer 'Merry Christmas' To 'Happy Holidays' --I am in this bunch. I don't believe in JC but what the !@#$? The vast majority of people including me celebrate Christmas. Have a Merry one. If you're JEwish and wish me Happy Hanukkah, I'll return the Happy Hanukkah to you and somehow not be offended. 71% Angry at Federal Government, Up Five Points Since September --29% of people surveyed lobotomized. 41% Support Health Care Legislation, 53% Oppose --41% of people can't wipe their own ass. 53% Have Favorable Opinion of AARP, but Health Care Issue Hurting Reputation --Who cares?
  21. Try again Pythagoras.
  22. The war on drugs has less chance of success than the war in Afghanistan. Legalizing is the first step.
