  1. Great--with all this political heat over the picture, how's Helen Thomas supposed to get a job working Photoshop?
  2. Fox just had that great clip where they cut out all the applause from the president's speech. They do the same ****, different viewpoint, all the time.
  3. No, it's gunpoint. If I don't pay my taxes, I'm arrested at gunpoint and put in jail at gunpoint. Make no mistake. You vote to use force to take my money every time you want more taxes on me. EVERY vote to spend is a vote to take my money without permission. Subjugation of the minority by the majority is not moral authority. So far your arguments in support of taxing the rich just because they have money are: (1) it's not fair that they have money (2) they may use the money unfairly (no mention of all the ways the rich may use money for good but whatever) (3) the majority wants the money What I asked was your moral basis for taking my money at gunpoint for the simple fact that I HAVE money. So far you can't provide any. Imagine I'm rich. What gives you, birdog, the right to steal what I've earned or that's been given to me?
  4. My point, as a consumer, is that I will punish them because for a reason--not caused at random by mother nature--it happened to them.
  5. I stand by my post in that thread repeated below...and again, I'd forgotten he was the choker. I can't keep the inmates straight.
  6. Sage advice from a guy who's been talking to him for 3 days about oil price fluctuation.
  7. No-- "simply because they have it"is exactly your rationale for taking the money. I ask you this. What right do you have to take my money at gunpoint? Your argument is that you can take my money at gunpoint for no other reason than "it's not fair" that I have money. Doesn't matter how I made it. Doesn't matter what I do with it. The mere fact that I have money and in your eyes this is "not fair" gives you the right to point a gun at me and take my money. Is that about right?
  8. Wait a second...Rfeynman is the guy who choked the woman he worked with? Bwahahaha. Yeah, always the victim. I learned that we're being overrun by trust fund babies.
  9. Thank you. My point is nto that it has been taxed to date but that taxes account for the "1B" that Steely is bitching about. The reason RW hasn't paid taxes on that 1B is that no one has yet realized any gain from it.
  10. So instead, I should buy BP gasoline, which in turn pads a lot of BP paychecks--and let percentages of pennies on my dollar go to pay for the spill. No thanks. If I'm paying for the cleanup one way or another, I'd rather not line the golden parachutes of the culture that made this possible.
  11. You do realize that the profit of 1B that you speak of is already taxed right? It doesn't sound like you get that. On top of taxing that, when RW dies and tries to give what's left to his kids--that money gets taxed a second time because it's passing to his kids. You bring up this aristocracy/meritocracy BS. Part of what makes this a meritocracy is that if I die with a few million in the bank, I die happy to be able to give what I earned to my children. That, in my mind, being one of the greatest things I can do with the money I earned. But instead of doing that--the government, which already grabbed 40+% of my money as I made it, taxes me just because I've died. It's ridiculous and has nothing to do with merit/aristocracy and everything to do with a money grab. But I know that we're overrun with trust fund babies right? That's one of the best lines ever! I love how the least meritorious people always B word about the lack of meritocracy. While you're whining about other people's money, others are actually out showing off their merit and funding all the people who provide little to no value.
  12. Yeah, watch the Bills win the Scrub SB.
  13. Yeah, that always works out so well. With that many characters, it will suck just like La Cage Batman 3 did in the last go-around.
  14. Right. We're practically overrun with them. Of course at the same time, you're posting how no one has any money. Estate taxes are immoral. You taxed me once when I made the money. You have no right to take what is mine again just because I die.
  15. Oh great. Another turd thread lands in our punchbowl.
  16. The way the free market works is you--the consumer--can punish companies. I will choose to exercise that right and not shed tears for BP. Now if you want to actually reward BP for this mess, that's your choice. A stupid one, but your choice.
  17. I don't have much way to boycott the OK company. And !@#$ BP. I'm happy to boycott them. The oil will still flow even if they go bankrupt but I'd love to see them go down for this. Unlike out "unaccountability" culture, watching BP go under would fairly hold them to account for this mess.
  18. Don't read The Grapes of Wrath.
  19. Steely, you need help. This post is not a joke.
  20. And if you believe that one, wait until you hear the thing about transubstantiation.
  21. Did you just refer to your eyes as your "baby blues?"
  22. I'm shocked you read that post.
  23. I had VZW and prefer AT&T. Since the iPhone came online, AT&T's service has been hammered and I see that but I agree: who wouldn't have been hammered by the massive jump that the iPhone caused?
