  1. It'd be nice to have him, but I'm hoppin' off the "gotta get him" train. I don't blame him for trying to max his value, this is the money he's gonna live off of forever. However, I don't think we're in a position to overpay for WR2 and I think Beane is of the same mindset. If he's gonna chase money over rings he should just head to Cleveland and be mediocre - no judgement from me on that decision. I'd rather take this money and pay Justin Houston, our DEs stink.
  2. Well if it's fiscally financial I think we're probably done out.
  3. I wouldn't care much if they sign him, Mac is still their QB. Would be better than having him go to the Chiefs.
  4. I'm much more worried about the Bengals than I am the Chiefs.
  5. Unpopular opinion: I'd rather sign Justin Houston than DHop. I'd like them both, but I think our pass rush will be a bigger issue this season than our offense.
  6. The roster cutdown this year is going to be super interesting. I would not underestimate the HUGE hit Special Teams just took with the NFL basically killing kickoffs. Players who would have made this roster on the basis of being a gunner or kick returner just had their values slashed dramatically. I could see teams carrying more skill position backups now and less 4th string linebackers and safeties to play teams. If you have a directional punter, special teams could theoretically almost never have to cover the field, just boot the ball out of the endzone on kickoffs and kick it out of bounds on punts.
  7. OP - those are not diehard fans. They can do what they want, but I'm not messing with them.
  8. Nope, you're moving the goalposts. Your argument said nothing about in the same season. You said "Beane isn't the type to move on from someone, fill the positions the way he'd like with other players, and then double back and alter the group he already formed." I showed you that he has done that twice and then you decided to try and reframe your disproven point. Nice try though.
  9. Yeah remember that one time we tried to trade for Diggs and then traded for him the next year when they were willing to trade him? Or when he tried to sign Sanders and got him 2 years later when he was willing to sign here? The facts oppose this statement.
  10. I follow him, that's his real account
  11. 1 - Cut players don't mess with this formula 2- We're beyond the date for messing with comp picks
  12. You like your people, I like mine. Your argument is weak, but I don't expect much from you. The choice is between 2 players, I like one and you like the other. Arguing with me about why your opinion is correct when it's based on a disagreement is a waste of time. As another poster said, let's hang that "Managed the salary cap efficiently 2019-2023" in the rafters if that's what you're after. Signing Hopkins to a deal that gives him a reasonable signing bonus this year while restructuring Dion and setting a lot of his base salary to be unlikely to be earned bonuses that don't count against the cap is a very reasonable way to structure a 13-16M/yr contract and should not preclude us from being in good cap position in the future.
  13. This decision should rest on one thing and one thing only: we have been waiting for a QB like Josh since Jim Kelly - whose career are you more concerned with supporting, Josh or Gabe? Dhop helps Josh now more than Gabe. Gabe isn't a #1 receiver. You take Dhop in a SB window every time.
  14. This is were my head is it with this too unfortunately. We could and should make this move if possible.
  15. Davis was given a chance to be a #2 last year and did not succeed. He is a rotational player.
  16. I'm not letting the future of Gabe Davis stop me from making this move.
  17. Feel free to move this to OTW. I enjoy the comments asking who Josh Allen is, lol.
  18. No, now that's he's been cut we can negotiate a new contract that fits under the cap for us. Before these were the options
  19. His new contract could be structured in a way to let us sign him this year and we just tack on some void years to get manage things in the future. We do about 2 restructures and we're good. This could absolutely happen.
  20. You know people and I empathize with your friendship. I don't think most people here will be sad to see that particular company out of the stadium. When I've had to occasion to see games in person I have been incredibly unimpressed with the food offerings. Having been to other stadiums around the country, I can safely say concessions at Highmark are bottom 5 in places I've been. I have heard it alleged that the same company does better in other places, which is odd. You'd think a buffalo-based company would do its best to make the local team its standard for good service. Seems like a self-inflicted failure. You want to see a nearby product that has tons of local pride - look at Wegmans - they are too good to be displaced.
  21. Spags, happy to hear your work-release is allowing you to use computers again. You ever gonna start rooting for a New York team or are you always gonna root for those Jersey bums? When Aaron emerges from his next hippy darkness retreat please let him know of your yearly tradition of getting your shinebox and making my wingtips look their best, maybe he can come with you!
  22. This is why I think they need another vet. So much depends on the Oline. DE and MLB are holes, but all that means is we're going to have to put up points. Hard to have major holes on both sides of the ball. Wish they had done more to fix the OL so our problems on D could be minimized.
  23. I'll step in: Your idea is wrong and has been refuted multiple times by direct answers from both the coach and GM. To continue to push this is funny.
