  1. The draft is a crapshoot. The best you can do is to scout as best you can and minimize risk when making a pick. If the general consensus is that a player is quite good but not elite, then it's up to the FO to make the call on whether to take a chance on a player, but we as fans don't have that information and I don't see it being logical to push a player's value higher than what pros think simply because we want someone at that position. I don't want to keep talking about drafting players in a thread about James though. You can DM me if you want to discuss it and I'd be happy to respond. I like James and would like him on the team if we don't grossly overpay him.
  2. Are you referring to the reported interest in James for an unspecified amount or to someone else? Your point being we just ignore more important positions and draft one of them in the event that one of them turns out to be a HOF player? That could apply to any decent player at any position.
  3. There aren't "elite" TEs in this class though by all accounts. There are 3 who are purported to be quite good in Hockenson, Fant and Smith, but no one is calling them the next Gronk.
  4. Agreed. Mocks are just for fun and should never be taken seriously. Renfrow isn't going in the 6th, nor Samuel in the 5th or Bradbury in the 4th most likely.
  5. I don't really care for fanspeaks boards, then again with first-pick's ability to trade up and down you get crazy stuff like this one where I draft most of the players I like:
  6. I mean I hope so. That has him making less then a 2nd round rookie was making last year. I'd be happy if we get him for <6M. I like him, but the production isn't there to justify paying him at higher than middle of the pack for his position.
  7. This salary is completely unrealistic
  8. This fills a need and he's not a bad starter, forget the stopgap he would be our TE1
  9. You guys prefer fanspeak or first-pick?
  10. Richie retired because he was upset about the money and stayed out of the league because he went fully nuts. If we had paid him, we'd just be out more money.
  11. Pass on all of them
  12. Haha. Not a comment talking him down. Just wanted people to know a little about him in case they didn't know him. Seems like he was way overpaid just to be a blocking TE, bears boards hated the signing.
  13. Sims is primarily a blocking TE.
  14. What rd pick? They have so much draft capital it would make sense.
  15. Hi Leroi! I thought I smelled something around here.
  16. Yeah, cause the owner who cried when he bought the team as he promised to keep it in Buffalo and already owns an NHL franchise in town is gonna move it. Awful post.
  17. I don't care if someone is a diva. I do care if they put themselves first rather than the team (the two are not mutually exclusive). AB wants to be famous, he wants people to treat him like he's special and couldn't handle the fact that the Steelers obviously valued his HOF QB more than him. I don't like me-first guys on my team because I don't care for them in real life. Not to mention the fact that he slept with Poyer's fiancé and I would rather have the #1 ranked pass defense left unmolested. If you bring in AB you'd probably have to get rid of Poyer and I don't want to break up the solid chemistry we've built on D. The way to get better as a team is not to create holes as you fill them.
  18. This might win the award for the most unrealistic expectation I've ever seen on this board. He will make $10M+ guaranteed.
  19. I am concerned with the rumors that Morse's career could be cut short by concussions.
  20. They own his rights. They have chosen to trade his rights and his prorated guaranteed money will be assessed to their cap hit as a result. AB will receive his signing bonus from the Steelers and the team that trades for him will pay his salary. He is not collecting on two contracts, he will be paid his salary as determined by his contract, by the team who trades for him, including all roster bonuses and incentives.
  21. Give me 31. Daryl Williams (27), OT, Carolina Panthers 36. Matt Paradis (29), C, Denver Broncos 39. Jared Cook (32), TE, Oakland Raiders 0. Thomas Davis (1,000,000) LB, Carolina Panthers
  22. If that's really your purpose, perhaps you should take a moment to check yourself and see how you come off to others. It appears you lack self-awareness. You're on another team's message board acting pissy with people because they aren't pleased to see you. I can see you going to someone's house for a group dinner and complaining to the host that they didn't plan the meal around your gluten-intolerant, vegan diet.
