  1. SDS's Fence is nice (and necessary) but if you don't have one of these - you will http://www.sears.com/sr/javasr/product.do?...UseBVCookie=Yes Not just for cars
  2. and with the continual "dumbing down" of America - they're getting closer to the truth http://www.suntimes.com/output/novak/cst-edt-novak01.html Current CA. gas price about $3.25 in this area (more?) "California led the national tax revolt in 1978 by passing Proposition 13, which slashed property taxes. Twenty-eight years later, the Golden State will be watched as a test for the political effectiveness of betting against unpopular oil interests despite the downside in public policy. With Big Oil and Silicon Valley facing off, the referendum will be watched by the rest of the country. The Clean Alternative Energy Act would impose a severance tax on California-produced oil (12 percent of all U.S. production) as high as 6 percent, with the expected $380 million a year revenue devoted to producing alternative fuels. That kind of industrial policy excites the interest of Silicon Valley."

  4. Everybody lost - No matter what happened or who would have been elected President Your COUNTRY is now being given away by every spineless politician in DC Whatever form the "immigration" bill ends up taking - Americans have lost Now, by any measure - American citizenship is for sale - pay the fine - $3K right now by the Senate bill - and John McCain (of Keating 7 fame) agrees wholeheartedly - he may be the Republican frontrunner for 2008 - a sorry sight ! It will take another 10-15 years - but kiss America goodbye (as you know it) I think E. Coasters have a disconnect here - but don't worry - it's coming
  5. I knew fancy homes in Amherst & Clarence with koi ponds - they just kept a bubbler going all winter to prevent ice - sometimes The koi still got cold and became very sluggish but most survived until the spring
  6. A chiminea will last in a lot of climates - not in PA., though
  7. When I see a backyard (rare in SOCAL), I find the most interesting and distinct feature to be a water thingy. There is something very soothing about bubbling water; either a wall sculpture or some kind of built in. The gazebo/pergola is nice for some shade (if you are tree-poor) but water music is my cup of tea for relaxing. I have seen them make the smallest space more placid
  8. You're talking about an animal If you have the choice to go sans pet and refuse - that's your thing Why are we still overrun with "Katrina" puppies ? http://lonsberry.com/writings.cfm?go=4 Yes, I own a dog - but it would never be a factor in a life & death decision It's time to be real - not sentimental
  9. Let's hold up rescue efforts while we save the pets http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20060523/ap_on_...et_evacuation_4 The House passed the Bill (HR 3858) and passed it on to the Senate Old ladies and hamsters first ?

  11. You need to consult a dictionary as to the meaning of "legacy"
  12. Well said - time & circumstances = (HOF) success (these days) Art Monk - still waiting is a travesty Jim Kelly as a 1st rounder (along with Troy) - questionable
  13. I refuse to take the crap - The crapee just needs to be reminded that his "team" has never been there (or ever will be) - 4 times in a row
  14. Checking OLN this AM and a dog (labradors) retrevial competition was on which I watched for a few minutes. The one guy had a dog that been to their version of the finals 2 of the last three years - but as he put it, 'couldn't get it done' and he then referenced the Atlanta Braves & Buffalo Bills He didn't look old enough to remember the Vikings
  15. What was the name of that bar/dive on the corner of Main & Lasalle (across from Ponderosa) ? Friday was 10 cent beer day - if you could keep the glasses because the waitresses were real creeps when the bar ran out of glasses - 6 oz. We always went there for one (hundred) - that "one" in the metric system ? Used to be across the street from the subway station and the Ponderosa - Ponderosa is now an Aldi's Two brain cells just collided - Broadway Joe's At least Anacone's and Slomba's are still there

  17. If this your "realization" moment - WELCOME ! The next politico you meet, who says 'I'm here to help' 1. Grab your wallet and run 2. If you left your wife/SO etc in the room - think before returning 3. Reconsider Decision #2
  18. It's a proven fact that in areas where everyone is carrying - crime drops and idiots die from multiple angles Losman will show his "growth" in a more competitive atmosphere in 2006 Stranger things have happened in the NFL
  19. Read & Learn "The original intent of the 14th Amendment was clearly not to facilitate illegal aliens defying U.S. law at taxpayer expense. Current estimates indicate there may be over 300,000 anchor babies born each year in the U.S., thus causing illegal alien mothers to add more to the U.S. population each year than immigration from all sources in an average year before 1965. The correct interpretation of the 14th Amendment is that an illegal alien mother is subject to the jurisdiction of her native country, as is her baby." The Complete Lesson http://www.theamericanresistance.com/issue...hor_babies.html
  20. The "Truth" always falls somewhere in the middle - but even that possibility is scary and gives even more reason to prepare
