  1. All the girls had to do was boot Phillip, and then they could have targeted Rob in the final 4. Either way, them voting together would have all but guaranteed Natalie and Ashley a spot in the finals even if they didn't win immunity. I've watched survivor every season, and one thing usually happens. Some group always tries to make a big move a little too late. They can't see far enough ahead to know when to make the big move. Those that can see that far ahead usually end up at the top. The Ometepe 6 should have made a play when there was 1 or 2 Zapatera remaining if they wanted to take the game away from Rob. On an unrelated note, one twist i'd love to see would be that in the event of a tribal council tie, both players voted for are safe, and everyone re-votes for someone else. It would completely change the strategy of trying to split votes, or simply hoping for a tie.
  2. Avatar wins going away. Biggest pice of crap ever made. And no i never saw it. The previews were enough to make me want to pop in my girlfriend's copy of "The Notebook." I'm amazed at the sheer amount of money made by filming james cameron's @#$ hole for 2.5 hours. It's a disgrace to the entire movie industry that his abortion is the top grossing film of all time.
  3. Gotta love it. Our 1st round pick hasn't even seen a practice field, been on the team less than a month, and already there are mouth breathers going after him for nothing more than showing passion and intensity and the desire to kick some ass.
  4. Finally got all caught up. I thought the season was good and was glad to see Boston Rob get the win. I thought he was the biggest dick during the first All-Stars, but i really came to like him and his game this season. However, he got extremely lucky in that his tribe was filled with a bunch of empty-headed young kids who were more than willing to follow him. If him and Russell were on opposite tribes, they probably would have finished flip-flopped to where they did. I like redemption island, and i think the producers kept it going so long only because Rob's alliance was so airtight. There was no drama or strategy by anyone other than Rob the entire time, and they followed like sheep. Had someone caused a stir and broken things up, i think the redemption island player would have returned sooner. I've got no problem with it coming back, other than i miss the reward challenges during each episode. I like having 2 challenges per show. Regarding casting, i think they need to bump up the age limit. No more of these worthless 19 and 20 year olds. Get some people with some real life experience. Now, it was nice to look at natalie all season, but from a gameplay standpoint, she brought nothing. I'd rather have 2 tribes like the old Zapatera willing to mix it up and fight as opposed to a tribe of kids playing follow the leader. As for the returning castaways, i hope its 2 1-time players. I agree with everyone above in that they shouldn't bring back multiple repeat players. It aways the game too much in that they either get too much power or that they are immediately targeted. As to who it is, i think Mike from this season might be one of the people. As to the other, i'd assume its froma recent season, so perhaps Sash? (he was in the crowd at the reunion). After this season, i gotta put Boston Rob as one of the top 5 all-time players in the game, along with Hatch, Russell, and Parv.
  5. I'll also add in that if someone has the requisite money and "want to" to own a team in the "NewFL", they probably have an interest in potentially owning a current NFL team at some point. And rest assured, there is no way in hell any person facilitating a new league ever gets a chance to own an NFL team in the future. The owners would blackball him and anyone else on the list of people that tried to start a new league and "steal" their players.
  6. Not to mention where are these players going to play? A good number os stadiums are owner by specific owners. But lets wait. If you want some real good laughs, wait til Hplarrm chimes in with his harebrained ideas on this.
  7. Its funny how the only time people use this line is when the stats disprove what point they are trying to make. I'm actually on your side in the Fitz argument john, but statements like that really weaken your argument.
  8. I agree with most of this. Regarding some of the earlier picks you mentioned, Whitner wasn't a BPA, that was idiot Jauron reaching for a need. He simply should have taken Ngata, who was the better player. With McKelvin, the mistake made wasn't reaching, as McKelvin was rated highly coming out of college. The problem that year was that there were equal rated players at positions of greater need. With Spiller, i think he was the clear cut highest rated player left. And i still think he'll be a good player. The kid's only had 1 season and has unquestioned work ethic, talent, and willingness to get better. Everyone has said that about him from college on up. Dareus was also the highest rated player. I think we've seen through 2 drafts that the Bills are gonna grab the best player in round 1, and then work on getting "their guys" in the later rounds. this is a solid strategy. If there's equal rated OTs and RBs, i'd take the OT. We got very lucky in that not only was he the best player on the board, but also at a position of huge need.
  9. So what the Bills need to do is simply wait and see how a player's career is going to turn out before drafting them. I wonder why they hadn't thought of this before?
  10. Just saw that tourette's boy finally got booted. That was 10 eliminations too late, because he has no talent aside from trying to scream like Adam Lambert. Good to see him go. I dont see how or why idol forces assclowns like him and that ugly girl from last season through so far.
  11. Stevie is plenty good enough to win a SB as a #1 WR, provided he continues his 2010 level. And look a few posts earlier. Stevei had fewer drops than a good chunk of the so-called "elite" recivers in the NFL. The self-hatred Bills fans have for the WR position is astounding.
  12. 82-1100-11 is a number 2 WR? What the hell are your standards for a #1 WR then? According to you, there about 10 "#1 WRs" in the league. Stevie damn sure played like a #1 WR last season.
  13. Spiller was the BPA at the time. He was basically universally rated high. You can't re-rank rookies coming out of college after they have played in the pros. How a player ranks coming out of college reflects his potential to be successful in the NFL. If a player doesn't pan out, it doesn't mean that they weren't thought of as the BPA at the time they were drafted. So yes, Spiller was a BPA pick. You're clinging to this ridiculous conspiracy theory that Ralph made the pick because it was a skill position. What happens next year when Nix picks a skill player in round 1. Will your argument all of a sudden change back into "Ralph made the pick"? Again, i will bet anything that Nix and Gailey had the exact same input and pick power when they picked Spiller than when they picked Dareus. They took the best player rated on their board, which is how successful teams draft (with the exception of QBs).
  14. Just because Spiller didn't have a good rookie season doesn't mean he wasn't highly touted coming out of college. He was one of the most electrifying collegiate players throughout his career at clemson. Spiller was a BPA pick whether or not you like it. But continue on your "only draft fat guys in round 1" tirade, because that's all this thread is really about. You're not really interested in hearing other opinions. Nix drafted Spiller. Nix drafted Dareus. He had the same input on both selections. To think otherwise is the height of foolishness and shows you have nothing more than an axe to grind.
  15. I dont think anyone will argue with you that signing TO was done from an almost purely marketing standpoint. Sure, he helped out on the field, but his effect was bigger on the business side of things. Where Bill is wrong is believing that Spiller was picked in this same vein. I've highlighted why Spiller wasn't a "marketing" pick, and represents a shift to a true BPA selection. Any 1st round pick is going to sell lots of merchandise, but with Spiller the effect on the field is why he was drafted. It can also be argued that if Ralph was trying to make a splash (which he wasn't), he would have called for the Bills to draft a QB, more specifically, Tim Tebow. If i am picking from a purely marketing and $ standpoint, Tebow is the pick, not Spiller. As for ticket sales, individual players don't affect them in football as much as in baseball. If a team sucks, no one is going to show up late in the year, whether you drafted Spiller or Dareus. If a team does good, people are going to fill the stands. Contrast to baseball, where tickets are actually sold based on an individual player and his performance.
  16. The Bills marketed Spiller after the draft. What was it called when they had Dareus to OBD and had the big media to-do with giving Dareus his jersey and #99 and presenting him to everyone? They market players because of their draft status, not position played. Dareus was marketed as much as Spiller.
  17. In both years, Nix and Gailey said they'd be taking the best player available. In both years, Spiller and Dareus were arguably the top overall players left on the board when we picked. There have been 2 consecutive drafts where they've taken BPA. One of them happened to fit a major need as well. Arguing that Ralph made the decision for Spiller and Nix for Dareus is disingenius in light of the way the Bills have conducted the past 2 drafts, and it sounds like you're simply reaching to try and force an idea into a preconceived notion.
  18. No one is arguing that. We're arguing Bill's incorrect point that Ralph was the decider to pick the skill players and Nix was the decider to pick the line guys. I would bet anything that Buddy Nix/Chan Gailey had the same amount of input in the selection of CJ Spiller that they did with the selection of Marcell Dareus.
  19. 3 yards and a cloud of dust doesn't exist in the NFL anymore. The NFL passes on 60% of offensive snaps. Which means that on roughly 60% of the snaps, half of your defense is composed of DBs. You need to be able to run at the end of games, but to win, its a passing/stop the pass league for sure.
  20. So lets see if i follow your warped lahjik... Bills hire Whaley in 2010 to be GM: Good, because they finally reached outside the organization. Bills hire Whaley in 2010 to a lesser title and he rises up chain, and probably eventually to GM: Bad, because the Bills "promoted from within" and "didn't look outside the organization" Laughable, as usual.
  21. In the words of a famous TBD mouth breather of days long gone: Winning destroys the franchise!
  22. The biggest shock is that the unions didn't demand to be in charge of making the slogan and that the historical society didn't protest the slogan as violating something of "historical importance."
  23. Whitner isn't great, but the comparisons to Polamalu and Ed Reed are ridiculous. Those guys are once-in-a-decade types of safeties.
  24. Nix slept for 3-4 months in a row? Impressive.
  25. More like "Same old BillsVet". No matter what the Bills do, he's going to B word about it and turn it negative. I believe he has posted numerous times about how keeping on Modrak was a sign that the Bills were run poorly. Now firing Modrak is a sign they are run poorly?
