  1. Hoping for the best WVU! I lost a grandfather less than a month ago, so i know what you're going through.
  2. I'm surprised you were able to snag tickets for the Jax game with the black tarps buying up so many.
  3. Hell of a tournament. Too bad tommy couldn't hang on there at the end. I was really shocked he made such a horrible putt for par on 18. Props to Cink tho. He's one of the more deserving players to win. The guy has paid his dues, been a top level, largely unnoticed player for the past few years now. Don't forget that he too was hardened by a 72nd hole heartbreak at a major when he three putted from 15 feet at the 2001 US Open.
  4. 6 sacks is asking a lot out of Maybin, especially in the past couple of years, the top rookie DEs (not 3-4 OLBs) have been coming in at about 6 sacks. I'd love it if he could rack up that many. More importantly, i think he needs to generate pressure on the opposing QB. If he can get a few pressures per game and force quick/bad throws, thats just as important as a sack. My prediction: I think 3-4 sacks is a realistic expectation, with 95% of the board calling him a bust when he's only got 2 sacks in the first 10 games.
  5. You realize that because of this thread, there's going to be hundreds of Bills fans who now suspect that every gay person is a spy/intelligence operative.
  6. You can give a baker the best ingredients in the world, but he's still gotta bake the cake. Lack of talent has nothing to do with jaurons scardey-cat schemes, horrific play-calling, and overall gameday blunders. On average, he himself has cost us 2-3 victories per season. There's no reason to believe these will change this year. 7/8 seasons with a losing record. As i have said befoe, just because belicheat turned it around, doesn't mean jauron will. There are dozens of coaches who have had similar records to jauron who got fired and never got a job because they were crap. Brady turned into a HOFer, but that doesnt mean every 6th round qb is going to. Most likely, this is jauron's last season as an NFL head coach anywhere. No owner (that wants to consistently win and make the playoffs) will hire the guy to lead a team.
  7. Actually the secondary is the strongest part of the defense. I just figured you;d give up on the DB harping because 1) there's nothing we can do about previous drafts, and 2) we spent 2 picks in the first 2 rounds on the lines, including 2 interior OL. There's no point in speculating about the 2010 draft, because with any luck, jauron will be long gone by then.
  8. You had me up until you started rambling on yet again about DBs and the draft. Give it a rest already. And the safeties we drafted aren't small. They are pretty much in line with the average size safety in the NFL. But i know, only big fat guys can be successful.
  9. This is dead-nuts accurate and highlites why dick jauron will do nothing but anchor this team at the bottom. By my view, there are basically 4-6 teams with a lot of talent who can win 12-13 games, and 4-6 teams so completely devoid of talent that they'll only win 2-3 games. The remaining 20 odd teams in the NFL all have similar talent levels and will depend on coaching to put them over the hump. Good coaches get the teams to 10 wins and the playoffs. Bad coaches cause teams to lose games and prevent them from succeeding (jauron). The Bills are squarely in that middle group, and we probably have 9 or even 10 win talent. Unfortunately, piss poor coaching from jauron and co. will cost us at least 2 wins this season, once again putting us in the 7 win range.
  10. And there's your mistake. You assume that the Bills never had a contingency plan in place if they had to trade Peters and then all of a sudden were caught with their pants down when they traded him. I highly doubt this was the case. Perhaps the Bills went into 2009 hoping they could re-sign Peters to a long deal, and if not, Walker would be a serviceable holdover until 2010, when they can either a)plug in Bell/Scott/another young guy, or b) acquire someone via FA or the draft.
  11. This was kind of my point. If the Bills have high hopes for Bell, they have 2009 to evaluate him. So after this season, they can address how Bell looked. If he's shown some real promise, perhaps they pencil him in as a starter. If he's shown that he'll be nothing more than a backup, they you look for a LT in free agency or early on in the 2010 draft. At least, that's how i would address the situation with Bell. Or maybe Langston Walker plays decent at LT and we keep him on.
  12. Got it. So we should have reached for an OT at #11, or reached at #28 for an OT. I guess you would have then had more ammo to trash the FO. Regardless of the situation, its a win-win for you, because you can trash the front office for something. Just because you don't see the plan doesn't mean the FO doesn't have one. Again, what if the plan is to move Langston to LT for a season until Bell gets ready? If one of your deemed "good" teams made this same move, you'd be praising them for "having a future plan and not having to reach in the draft to fill a need." But since its the Bills, that automatically means the move is bad and sucks, right?
  13. Link please. Just because we didn't draft a LT doesn't mean that we didn't adjust our draft board. Maybe they take Oher at 28 if he's there. Perhaps we had higher rated players available, or weren't as high on certain prospects. Or perhaps they are high on someone like D. Bell and are planning on having Walker man the LT spot for a season until Bell is ready to take over. Of course, that wouldn't fit in your little "everything the Bills FO does is wrong" crusade.
  14. If anyone is interested in the entire Apollo series, check out "A Man on the Moon" by Andrew Chaikin. I've read it and can give a full overview to anyone interested. http://www.amazon.com/Man-Moon-Voyages-Apo...8242&sr=8-2 The book is a comprehensive overview of the entire Apollo program that not only discusses the missions, but the astronauts and their lives in and around the missions. You get fully enveloped into their stories and what goes on at the Johnson space center, and you really get to know who the astronauts were. To me, Apollo 11, while landmark, was also rather boring when compared to Apollo 12-17. It was on the subsequent missions where the real fun took place.
  15. Kind of stupid to lump the Bills in with the other teams listed in that article. Those teams have actual controversies over who is going to start and play QB in the 2009 season. The Bills already know. Where i see a possible controversy is if Trent struggles and the team plays poorly again this season. Then we have the controversy over whether to keep trotting him out in 2010 or go after a different QB in the offseason.
  16. We used to play football outside all the time growing up. I did have a nintendo and computer, but my parents kicked us outside to play. There were 5-6 of us in the neighborhood who played everyday after school for a few hours. At one point, my one friends mom worked at a t-shirt screening place and made "jerseys" for us. When the snow flew, that made it even better. As for night games, our one friends house had floodlights on the house and shed that gave just enough light to play into the darkness. Those were some great times.
  17. Love it. Here's a great young ass.
  18. If you really wanted him to "have it better than you," you'd be a hell of a lot more concerned with his grades than his non-existent football future. (and yes, it is non-existent. If he had any shot at a football future, D-1 schools would be looking at him., The fact that they aren't says everything we need to know about his talent) Take the Air Force for example, like you did. Any ROTC program at a college is going to laugh in his face when he applies for admission with D's in high school core courses. I played sports in high school and kept my grades up because my dad flat out told me that if my grades ever suffered, he was removing me from the team. Plain and simple. No grades, no play.
  19. The dolphins message board has signed you as their new "insider" and we won't be subjected to any further worthless drivel from you?
  20. Perhaps this is hearing the lock click on a door that was never open to begin with. I'm sorry to hear about his injury, and i hope he recovers quickly and fully, but now he'll have to focus on what he's going to do with the rest of his life.
  21. This one has nicer curves. http://www.galasource.com/FetchImage.aspx?...dth_200x200.jpg
  22. Agreed. Every team needs players like Kyle Williams on their team. Goes all out. But ideally, you want him as your 3rd DT, being the first one off the bench, or perhaps starting a few games as an injury replacement. You dont want ot have to rely on him as a season long starting DT. I feel the same way about Ellison.
  23. Its the same thing every with Jauron. Beat the crappy teams. Lose to the god teams. And the middling teams we hang with, hoping that we can sneak a win and that a jauron blunder doesn't give us the loss.
