  1. Nice review, Jay. You did a great job of neither increasing my interest in seeing the film, nor detracting from it.
  2. LOL, that is awesome
  3. I think the modern day version of Napster would be Grooveshark. With that service the music files are shared with the community by its members. With MOG and Spotify, the best plans are the ones where you spend a few bucks per month. You get access to their entire library of many millions of songs/albums, and you can download as much music as you want. Additionally, the quality of the tracks is higher, with MOG being MP3 quality, or 320kpbs. (And I'm pretty sure Spotify offers the same now, as well.) You can literally find a brand new album on its release date, download it to your device, and it's there to listen to any time you want whether you're online or not. They keeps lists of new releases, chart toppers, editors picks, etc, so that you can find new music. They also have a Pandora type feature called MOG Radio where you can listen to the music of one particular artist or that artist plus similar artists mixed in. I was quite happy with Pandora, but I had no idea there were services out there like MOG and Spotify. I'm so hooked on MOG it's not even funny. I've been listening to music nearly non-stop since I was told of it by someone on another website.
  4. I had a laser disc player in the 80s.
  5. Gringo, I can't even tell you how many hours I've thought about my little guy since I had to put him down in February. I've come to the understanding that all that unconditional love they give us for so many years is not free...there is a small price that we have to pay, and that is the immense pain we feel when they are gone. It is a very fair wage, as most would agree, and a price that most of us would, and will, gladly pay again with another little buddy down the road. But for now, know that you are not alone in your sadness and know that you honored Billie by being strong enough to do the right thing when she needed you to come through for her. The great people of TBD really helped me through my period of grief, and I hope you find the same comfort in them that I did. Fifteen years for Billie is most certainly a life well-lived...and I will tell you the same thing that people told me when I lost my dog of 16 years...it takes one hell of a great owner, and person, to have a dog make it to such a ripe age. So on that note, great job my friend
  6. I feel absolutely awful for this guy, especially since his kids are now showing signs of developing the same thing. Talk about a good woman, though...she still loves him just as much as she ever did. poor bastard
  7. He seemed like a pretty likable guy on the Dr.Drew show once he sobered up... I agree with the sentiments on swimming...I don't understand how so many people can not know how to swim...it boggles my mind. His fiancee should have at least been able to make an effort to get him out of the water...because she couldn't swim, there was absolutely no chance. (At least that's what it seems based on the article.) I was reading the article sort of fast, and the writer didn't have much of a segue from the cops showing up at his house and talking about how "A bystander videotaped much of the incident from a distance. The footage showed four LAPD officers severely beating King, striking him 56 times with their night sticks" At first I was like, WTF this dude can't catch a break!!!
  8. lol, they go through all this effort to find a means to snuff out the heat signature on their vehicles for when they move the caravan 20mi down the road, and then they go taking off with all their headlights on I'm glad this show's back and I'm sure I'll watch the entire season, but I really hope it gets better...
  9. Another cool thing is that it has an even better version of Pandora already built into the service...it's called MOG Radio. What I love about this is it has a slider where you can set it to either 100% selected artist or move it to the other end and have that artist plus other similar artists playing in a mix. Where you set the slider determines how diluted or you want the mix to be. Also, if anyone does sign up for the mobile program, be sure to change the settings to "high quality downloads" so that you get the full MP3 quality. Whenever I hear about an album I want to hear, I just download it in MP3 and then I can listen to it anytime whether I'm online/wifi or not. I'ts very cool. EDIT: Stojan, just taking a quick glance at Spotify, it seems like the two services are very similar and competing with one another, so that's awesome for us, the consumers. Might not be enough justifiation to switch to MOG if you're happy with Spotify since they apparently now also offer the same high quality streaming and downloads.
  10. You should play around with it
  11. I know, I hadn't heard of it until just recently, as well. Not real familiar with Spotify, to be honest...I was mostly using Pandora and the TuneIn Radio app that I first heard about from you...love that app! The real value is in the paid versions. For $5/month you get unlimited music, but for the $9/month play you get mobile use and unlimited downloads. I love this, because I can download whatever album - especially newer albums that just came out that I want to hear - to my iPhone and listen to it whenever. You can download as much or as little as you want. I'm still learning the ins and outs, but from what I understand you can listen via your computer, various streaming players like the Logitech squeezebox products, your Roku box, apple express, apple tv, etc, etc. I mainly use the portable option right now with my iPhone, which I love.
  12. Not one person using MOG??? Let me give you an idea of what this service is like...it's like having a record store in your own home where you can sit down and listen to literally ANY song or ANY album ever created, including ANY new release. On top of that, you can listen on your portable device AND download ANY song or album ever made for free when you become full member. Additionally, you get MP3 quality streaming, which is 320kbps. Many people cannot distinguish between MP3 and CD quality. With all the music lovers on this site, I can't imagine how this ISN'T like an instant music boner for you guys just like it is for me. I've already spent hours listening to old and new music and having a blast!
  13. Amen! That's the one aspect of the game where I will totally agree with the haters...the diving is asinine, and quite frankly I'm embarrassed as hell when either a German or American player does it. Have some integrity for fux sake!!
  14. If he tries to cross the Grand Canyon w/out a harness, I'll probably shart myself just from the stress of watching.
  15. I'm with you, Figster...I just have a feeling that he's going to end up being a legit playmaker for us. I'm looking forward to seeing him this season.
  16. Oh wow, interesting...are you sure it was the Germans involved in such a thing and not the Canadians or the French?
  17. I agree, that is bogus...I thought it was a typo today
  18. Stern has got to be one of the biggest d-bags in all of sports. I swear, every time I hear him being interviewed, he comes off like an arrogant tool. He also seems to be constantly arguing with the people interviewing him, or at least it seems that way.
  19. I thought maybe they tried to screw him over by using some no-name brand mustard instead of Plochmans...that would have pissed me off, as well.
  20. lol, exactly. It's funny, cause if you watched those "top 20 stunts of all time" before the walk last night, those were some pretty intense acts!! The one guy who was a "solo rock climber" or whatever gave me a pit in my stomach watching him....no gear at ALL, just a guy climbing up the side of a huge rock. Then the other guy who did the same with buildings, even climbing up the friggin Burg Dubai!!! That is truly CRAZY, but also entertaining and absolutley unbelievable. That's what I was ready for...some guy gonna risk life and limb crossing the very falls that I've visited on numerous occasions and am COMPLETELY intimidated by. I still remember the first time I stood along the rail watching and sensing the force of that water...truly incredible. So to all of a sudden see the guy with the training wheels on just threw me for a loop. If I would have known he was going to wear it beforehand, it wouldn't have been a problem. But to have all the build up about how risky this would be, and then being primed for the walk by having ABC show all those videos of amazing stunts, just really made for a big let down.
  21. I completely lost interest when I saw the tether, as well. Fig Newton pointed out in the shoutbox that it was known a week ago that he would have it in place, but I guess I was still going on what was discussed earlier than that where he was saying no net, no tether. I certainly don't want to see anyone hurt or killed, but that was sort of like taking all the risk and intensity out of the stunt for me. As I mentioned in the shoutbox tonight, there is a reason why when you go to the circus they make a big deal about telling you the trapeze people don't use nets. Of course nobody wants anything bad to happen, but when the lack of safety measures is what takes the stunt or act to a whole new level. It felt a bit like a bait and switch to me, cause the only promotion I'd seen up until the show tonight indicated he would be doing it with no tether in place. How intense can it really be when he's literally having a chat while walking the tight rope? Anyway, I'll definitely keep tabs on his progress with the Grand Canyon thing...
  22. Some entertaining futbal played today! That heel goal by the English guy was sick! One of the signature goals of the tourney for sure.
